Letters to be mailed?; This place is a mess...
Topic Started: Nov 1 2011, 01:30 AM (56 Views)
Carmine Gauss

Carmine unlocked the post office door with his provided key and stepped inside. He was startled by the large bell hanging overhead on the door frame, and he cursed quietly as he flipped the sign on the door to ‘Open’ behind him.
A fine layer of dust thoroughly cloaked the entirety of the post office, making Carmine sneeze and cover his nose with a sleeve. He made a lazy swipe at the counter and sent the dust motes scattering around the room. Clearly no one had cleaned the office well in some time and everything had a weathered, dirty feel to it like it was from another age.
There were a few stray letters in their respective sorting slots back on the wall and the place was relatively empty, save for a potted plant in the corner had been left to wither to a molted, ugly yellow.
Carmine had never fancied himself to be a mail carrier, but the job seemed easy enough; besides, the town needed a mail carrier desperately. Everyone had merely delivered their own packages and letters beforehand. Carmine turned on the lights and went behind the desk and started cleaning with a broom and dustpan. Hopefully it would not be a busy day.
