"Oh, you are not prepared. Not for this."

In a flash, Glaive moved. He dashed forward, his wings lending him speed and power. He launched a rapid barrage of powerful strikes to start their bout of sparring.

Well, he certainly knew how to throw a punch. Denton would give him that after failing to block a few jabs that hit him in the face. After those slip-ups, JC's augments whirred loudly, lines and numbers appearing in front of his vision, calculating every other incoming hit so that Denton could knock it away with a mithril hoof moving with the exact same amount of force. Eventually jumping back, Denton let out a breath, cracking his neck.

"You can definitely use those hooves of yours." He growled, his left forehoof churring and humming as the end split open, turning itself into a four-pronged claw. "Mind showing me what else you can do?"

"Fair is fair, angel. I showed you something. That makes it your turn."

Glaive stood back, forelegs at his side, his body loose and relaxed. His hooves shifted slightly as he waited for the angel's counterattack.

"Don't disappoint me, now."

"True..." Denton nodded, looking from Glaives face to his forehooves.

Spreading his wings, he let them crackle with blue energy, the mithril feathers vibrating and buzzing as they charged up. Legs tensed, Denton wound up the hoof-claw, the prongs of which were spinning, their sharp edges glittering as he leapt forth with a sudden clap of thunder, and Denton's body was encased in blue lightning as he shot forward. His claw-arm had resumed a hoof shape, and as he jumped, he had began to swing it, as if throwing a punch.

Glaive stood back, keeping himself balanced. He wasn't quite sure exactly what the angel was doing, but he was sure he didn't want to find out firsthoof. He took a defensive stance and waited.

The attack came faster than he expected. Too late to dodge, he crossed his forelegs in front of him, absorbing tube force of the blow.

As soon as JC's hoof made contact, there was another crack of thunder, and a flash of lightning as the gathered energy exploded outward, the electricity either shooting into the air or into Shining Glaive, or whatever metal he had on his body.

Denton leapt back, watching shining Glaive. If the mortal wasn't tied to a lightning rod or something, then this shock should be extremely painful, possibly causing temporary paralysis. "Should have warned you. High voltage."

The lightning coursed through Glaive's body, wracking him with...actually, not that much pain. It hurt, yes, but it was in no way crippling. He smirked at the angel.

"I'm a pegasus, you idiot. A shock like that is nothing to me!"

Glaive stepped forward and flourished, drawing a set of knives from beneath his coat. His forelegs blurred, and a flurry of sharp steel hurtled towards the angel.

Denton rolled his eyes. More knives. And Glaive was calling HIM the idiot? The auged angel stepped back, bringing up one hoof in front of him, as if motioning for the knives to stop. There was a buzzing noise, and each of the blades ceases their flight, orange arcs of lightning jumping between them as they were held rigidly in place. One, however, did get close enough to ding the side of JC's left foreleg.

Denton frowned at this small ding, looking back up at Glaive. "I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here and say you're good at catching knives, too." He said, before the blades swiveled around to face the Pegasus, and launched towards him with equal the amount of speed he had sent them forth with.

The brief moment of Jacinth's attention being elsewhere was all Glaive needed. By the time he brought his eyes up, Glaive had already moved, bearing down on the angel with a powerful swing. His previous impassive look had been replaced with a wide and somewhat worrisome grin, one known to many ponies. Glaive was enjoying himself immensely.

Oh. Okay. So he actually could move fast. JC would give him that, too. However, JC did nothing to defend himself, allowing his face to take the blow head on. He wanted to see how strong this swing was.

Glaive decked Jacinth across the face. This was the kind of blow that could KO ponies, drop Diamond Dogs and even stagger buffalo. How an angel would take it, though, Glaive wasn't sure. It was entirely possible that they had a stronger chin than even the toughest of the mortal races.

That's why it wasn't only one punch. Nearly as soon as Glaive's punch landed, he continued to move, hooking a leg around Jacinth's and, using him as a fulcrum for his own body, attempting to flip him over Glaive's shoulder.

When Glaive struck the angel's jaw, there was an audible banging sound. The bone hadn't broken, instead, it was like a hammer against a sturdy churchbell, sending out a smooth, ringing note.

Other than momentary discomfort, it had no effect on the Auged Angel besides his head swinging to one side. JC's face swiveling back in time for him to realize what Glaive was attempting. JC's entire form lunged back, his leg yanked violently backward, ripping away from Glaive's grip. His mithril wings gave one mighty beat, powerful enough to exert 600 newtons of force.

The angel launched back, landing twenty yards away. His eyes were glowing brightly, and large stormclouds gathered overhead. The crackle of thunder and the smell of ozone was in the air. Yet still, Jacinth was stonefaced. He stood there, staring blankly at Glaive, as he began walking forward. With every step he took, there was a sickening ripple of energy in the air.

Glaive's coat billowed in the massive burst of force exerted from the angel's wings, and he himself was pushed back several feet, his hooves blocking dust from blinding him. He put down one hoof, holding the other in the air still. Glaive looked at the angel, then down at his own hoof. It probably hurt more than the angel's face did. He was beginning to suspect that the angel's arrogance might have been justified after all.

Glaive spared a brief glance to the skies above. His eyes merely flickered, but it was enough. The weather energy being gathered was enormous. Glaive smirked.

"We're pegasi. This kind of fighting doesn't suit us at all."

In a flash, Glaive spread his wings and took off, his ascent kicking up a great cloud of debris.

Spreading his wings, Jacinth took off after Glaive. The resulting wake of dust followed him up, like a funnel of earth. When he hit the cloud layer, the cumulonimbus joined the spiraling entrail. His wings, with each beat, sent and exchanged arcs of lightning with the dark stormclouds.

Jacinth was now where his weather controlling abilities would help him greatest. "You're good with taking fifty hundred volts of Electricity." He said. "How about fifty thousand?"

Glaive trailed his own thin line of cloud, barely enough to be seen amongst the greater clouds they flew through and around. Fifty thousand volts of electricity was a much different story from five thousand...he could still withstand it, but he might not wake up for hours, and probably wouldn't walk unaided for a day. But if he could just put one line of the set-up out of place...

Glaive suddenly tucked in his wings and stopped flapping, his velocity rapidly reversing itself as he angled back towards the ground. He dropped below the angel, then spun over and starting flapping again, flying beneath his opponent.
