Glaive may have just been making this too easy. Jacinth focussed the power he had drawn in, his whole body giving off waves of gold and blue. He took a deep breath, and focussed the energy downward.

THOOM!

A pillar-like bolt of lightning shot straight towards Glaive, guided to him since he was carrying so much metal. Ion tunnels spread out. In slow motion, from someone on the ground's point of view, it would look like the sky was cracking up like ice.

Around, below and above his opponent Glaive flew. With every pass, he trailed more of that thin cloud, weaving a living net around his opponent, taking it with them as they climbed higher and higher into the stormy sky.

When Denton unleashed his colossal blast, Glaive was ready. There was just enough cloud mass diverted away from the attack for him to divert part of the energy, as well. Not all of it, of course - it slammed into him, charring even his heat-resistant coat and sending his body into convulsions as the powerful electric shock coursed through his body. He would not be the only one to suffer, however.

The energy Glaive diverted through his cloud net glowed for a moment before erupting, stabbing towards Denton with tendrils of powerful electricity. Not as powerful as his enormous column of energy, but numbers do add up.

Glaive didn't see if his attack worked or not, though, as he was far too busy falling from the sky, wisps of smoke surrounding him.

Denton froze. He hadn't expected a reflection of his attack. His wings continued beating, slowly, but he himself curled up tightly, as he focussed on expending the redirected energy. Arcs of it jumped into the clouds around him, but he still felt the need to land and examine himself. He did so, not as gracefully as he could have, but better than Glaive, probably.

He watched Glaive plumment from the sky, and became acutely aware that he wasn't slowing down. Jacinth took a moment to ponder whether he should bother trying to help Glaive, as he looked at himself. The redirected power had given a painful sting, and he felt very stiff. It would take a few days for him to regain full movement, but for now he would have to be careful about movimg to fast.

Fifteen feet above the ground, Glaive's eyes snapped open. He looked around in confusion for a moment before the rush of wind reminded him of what was happening. She snapped out his wings and pulled out of the descent at the last possible moment, his hooves skimming across the ground. He broke into a roll, skidding across the dirt, but he managed to land of his hooves, if painfully. Shaking somewhat, he faced Denton again.

"Not...bad."

Denton gave a snort. "First pony for... a while who has been able to force me out of the sky. I'm impressed, I suppose." He said, walking closer. His movements were slightly jerking, and he was slower than before. "You also managed to fault up all of my motion-enhancements. I'll be a slight more sluggish for the next few days. You should consider that a tie." He explained, before cocking his head to one side. "Unless, of course, you weren't planning to win?"

Glaive snorted. He immediately regretted that decision, but he showed no more than a wince on his face.

"Fights are...inherently unpredictable, even against known qualities. I didn't know what you were capable. For all I knew, I was doomed from the start. Apparently I was not."

He shook his head slightly and and let out a breath.

"So, we tied. I could go for more, but I really don't want to, and I suspect you would say the same. But, listen...I'm nothing special. Oh, sure, I'm more skilled than nearly any mortal warrior you might see...but it's entirely that. Skills. Learned skills. Any healthy pegasus could learn to fight like I do. Some might even do better. So, don't discount us mortals."

JC gave a look of contemplation, as much as one as he could while wearing shades. "I'll put thought into that. It's a sign of skill when an Archangel can be damaged by one lone fighter, even one so talented as you." He turned around, beginning to walk away. "As I said before, you're the one pony even vaguely worth my time. Maybe there is more truth to this than I thought before our little tumble. I'm sure Ponyville's defenses are in good hooves."
