One of the last few towns I've yet to travel to on my journey to bring in a new age of technology! Everypony says that I'm crazy, but they wouldn't know what an electric drill is without me around! Megabyte thought to herself as she crossed the border between the small town of Ponyville and the wilds of the plains, setting sun glowing behind her back while she trotted along. She wasn't one to actively open up a stand to sell her wares and gadgets, but she liked helping a pony in need of something she built.
The town didn't seem as lively as she had heard while asking around Fillydelphia, but that was to be expected for the evening. She stopped next to a home to rest after the long walk she had just completed, rummaging through her saddlebags and getting through her various small tools and things to retrieve her coin purse, sighing at the discovery of just two bits inside.
"Looks like it'll be another night under the stars for me..." She thought out loud, keeping her seat on the cold ground for the time being.

It was nearing the end of Summer here in Equestria. For Cosmic Radiance this meant one more final round of researching and information gathering in Ponyville. In a few weeks he would be stuck in Canterlot, teaching the new round of undergraduates with lecture after lecture. Arriving in Ponyville later than he normally would prefer, this left little time to actually do his basic scientific readings for the day. Ponyville had been in constantly flux of magical anomalies, the source of which was still yet to be pin pointed.
Since his daily routine was not going to be accomplished for the day, Cosmic elected to walk through the town a bit to keep an eye out for anything that would catch his eye. He had been in and out of town, so noticing small changes here and there was one thing he liked to keep tabs on. The last few times he had encountered a rather interesting prodigy filly capable of solving some rather difficult math equations in her head. Truly fascinating pony indeed.
On his path through Ponyville, he happened to pass by a Pony that appeared to be just arriving to town as well. At least that's what it appeared to him at least. The said pony was looking through some saddle bags that she had in her possession. A sigh of frustration escaped her mouth as it were, undoubtedly not happy with what she had discovered.
Looks like she could use some help. Cosmic Radiance thought to himself. Walking over to the traveler, he approached her courteously with a warm greeting. "Excuse me Miss. You appear to just have arrived here in town." He stated with a polite nod to her. "You wouldn't happen to need some assistance with anything would you?" He tilted his head slightly.

Trixie had begun to believe that she was a sheep in wolf's clothing after her first time in the city of Ponyville. None of her side-show performances on the roads between cities were fruitful and she herself was caught in what seemed like a bad cold. Just allergies... she would tell herself, although as the weeks past it become clear that she was in a self-imposed funk. Her spells seemed to flutter in and out of existing, and her drive to put on her show was waning each day. Barely making enough bits to scrape by, she was fed up with her weakness.
"The Great and Powerful Trixie will not go so quietly into the night, Trixie will reclaim her lost respect even if she is burdened by sickness!"
She came to the conclusion that in order to get herself out of this rut, she would have to prove herself again. The small town that she lost so much respect in hovered about her thoughts like a rain cloud. Packing up her wagon and it's contents, Trixie began the trudge to Ponyville once more in the ending days of summer. Before winter descends upon this town, Trixie will show them all TRUE magical prowess! she gleefully told herself. Deep down however, as she finally entered the town with a tired but ambitious expression, she did not know what she was going to do about the situation.
Trixie unbuckled the wagon and stretched out of it, getting rid of the cramps she received while pulling it. She spied two ponies engaged with each other, and went over to them with a confident trot.
"Greetings, Ponyvillians. The most fantastic of all unicorns in Equestria wishes to dine in a restaurant in this small hamlet of a town. Would either of you know of such a place befitting the Great and Powerful Trixie?" she said with an egotistical grin.

Megabyte looked up and away from her near-empty coin purse when she was addressed by Cosmic Radiance, quickly looking back down and tucking the small sack away into her saddlebag. "Why, yes I have mister. It's a nice town, if I say so myself." She said in a polite tone as she worried about making a good first impression on the pony that seemed to be willing to help her out at least a little bit. "Well... Maybe a little bit. I don't think I have enough bits on me to pay for a room at the inn. But once tomorrow comes around, I should be able to get enough for myself after selling a few things to anypony that wants them."
The pegasus slowly stood up from her spot after the hard stone ground caused her rump to get slightly sore, about to speak again, but forced to stay silent as another blue pony announced her appearance. She glanced towards Trixie while listening to her somewhat less than polite question, giving her a polite smile anyway. "Sorry miss, I just got here myself, so I don't know where anything is at the moment." She replied with a slight frown on her face.

Cosmic nodded in understanding. The visitor needed some funds to stay in a inn for the night. The final statement though is what we really drew in Cosmic's attention. "Yes Ponyville is indeed a nice little town." He agreed with her. "I'd be more than willing to help lend out a few bits for you to stay somewhere for the night. I usually go to the local inns here when I'm in town. Their fairly comfortable and come at a great value given the services the provide." This was as far as he got before the arrival of Trixie.
Trixie ..presence nearly demanded attention both in her deliverance and overall boastfulness of her introduction. So if it is'nt the traveling magician... Cosmic had heard of her through some of the town folks as well as through talk of people in Canterlot. He had never actually been to any of her shows in the passed. It was not something he would typically watched. Her way of using magic was nonsensical to Cosmic.
"Well Trixie.." Cosmic spoke up after Megabyte. "Most of the places in Ponyville are rather, how do you put it, more down to earth and family oriented. Now if you were in Canterlot.. I'd know several ..higher classed restaurants you could go to." Cosmic explained. "Given the current time as well, most of the shops here will be closing down for the night. The town, how do you say it, is not a busy hub like the larger towns." Really Trixie should know this much, she is a traveling magician .. and given her experiences with Travels it was amazing she had the gall to ask such a question in such a town as Ponyville.
Cosmic turned back to Megabye to get back to her little situation. Cosmic would rather not have someone indebted to him so her point of selling something was what he was interested. "Just how were you going to making up the bits tomorrow miss." If there was something she had that could be of use of her, then the solution could be solved then and there.

Trixie felt slightly miffed by their useless answers, but then she noticed that the blue stallion said her name. Perhaps Trixie's act is salvageable after all...
"Then I suppose Trixie will have to settle for the solace of rest, then." she spoke to both of them, but then turned to the stallion. "You've heard of Trixie's magic, I see. Were you in any of Trixie's countless crowds? Trixie knows her autograph lines can be quite long and tiring. Perhaps Trixie can outfit you with one before her heart-stopping performance in Ponyville takes place once again?"
She flicked her mane to one side and gave a determined grin.

"Sorry that I couldn't be of much assistance to you, Miss Trixie." Megabyte replied with her head slightly bowed to the magical unicorn mare. "I'd possibly like to catch a show. If I could afford a ticket that is." She stated politely, going quiet so the other two could converse between each other for the moment without getting interrupted.
She blinked and turned her attention back to Cosmic once he addressed her again, a large smile slowly creeping onto her face when she got the chance to show her gadgets. "Well, you see, I'm an inventor of many different things. I pay unicorns of decent magical ability to fill these little guys, I like to call them cells, with electrical magic." She started, rummaging through her bag and taking out one of the small cylindrical metal cells out with her mouth, simply setting it on the ground in front of her. "And I can tap into that power to run devices and tools that I design myself. You'll need to be or know a unicorn to make it worthwhile though... Since the magic runs out after a few days of total use."

"Well Trixie, your show is one of the most .....talked about shows." Cosmic was trying to word his sentence .. the right way as it were. He was looking up slightly trying to come off in the wrong way toward Trixie. The last thing he wanted was a self proclaimed megalomaniac to deal with at this time. "I have never actually been to one of your show and I'm in really no need of your Autograph." He stated flately. Trixie's was definitely not short on confidence. Cosmic did appreciate that aspect, but the condescending attitude was something he could do with out.
Turning his attention back to Megabyte, Cosmic listened in on what she sold with great interest. "An inventor you say?" Cosmic grinned. "That is vary impressive. Especially your this fascinating device you have there." This small cylindrical metal cell that she had in person she claimed was charged with electrical magic. This was almost too close to Cosmic area's of research. A device that utilized magic to power small devices. While similar on a basic level to Cosmic research, the scale was definitely on a smaller more practical application. The problem she had was pretty much the one hurdle that needed to be overcome for magic to be used as a an energy to be tapped into. It still needed a means to focus the magic from the surroundings. Once focused a device can easily transfer the potential energy of concentrated magic into a power source.
"So how much are you selling such tools and devices for?" He inquired inspecting her invention that was on the ground.

Trixie frowned, but decided to make the best of a bad situation. She turned to Megabyte before Cosmic began to speak to her again and pulled out a small piece of parchment, scribbling her signature on it with a levitated pen.

She gave it to Megabyte with a desperate grin. "Trixie is always ready to help the destitute and needy, so here, take this, it'll act as your ticket into Trixie's show, for free! In about a week it'll happen, with magical feats beyond anything you've ever seen!" she said, trying to convince Megabyte to come. "Now, Trixie really must get some rest, so excuse her please, and many thanks to you two for your... assistance and patronage."
Trixie trotted back to her wagon, trying to walk with a confident swagger, but eagerly shut the door behind her and flattened herself against the wall. She took a deep breath and sighed, tossing herself into her small bed. Trixie just needs to show them, then they won't display such brazen disrespect. At least some of them have heard of her, that'll make things easier... she wearily thought, drifting off into sleep.

Megabyte took the paper she was given and looked it over before carefully tucking it away in her left saddlebag, away from the pointy tools in the right bag. "Thank you Miss Trixie." She replied with a polite smile as the caped mare moved away.
Once everything was in place, she put her full attention back onto Cosmic, letting him inspect the magic cell to his heart's content. "Well, it depends on the size and how much work they take to build of course, but I usually charge about thirty bits or so for the average piece. I'll be able to lower the price once I find a cheaper material than metal to work with though." She replied, doing her best to sound professional while she spoke to Cosmic seeing as he sounded interested in her work. "I have things from drills that no longer need to be turned by hoof, to some more complex items, like a pair of portable radio-like devices that you talk into and the pony with the other one can hear you and talk back. Not sure what to call those yet, but they work up to about two hundred feet away. Those took me years to finally perfect though, kept accidentally picking up signals meant for regular radios."

Blast cusses stepping out of his modest home in Ponyville. Having run out of ingredients for certain kinds of his charges, he begins walking towards the market in hopes of finding some. It was rare he could buy the supplies he needed from the market place, but once in awhile there were unique sellers that would be selling their wares in which he could make use of. He had become exceptionally resourceful ever since learning finer arts of demolition all the way in Trottingham, he even found many of his own ways of getting jobs done, even without using charges.
The scenery is pleasant as he made his way towards what looked like a sale going on. As he got closer he didn't recognize what he assumed would was the shopkeeper. "Just the thing... One is still open." He said to himself, perhaps an out of towner would have what he needed, or at least something useful. He finally catches up to the two he realizes he doesn't know either one of them, though the blue and white pony looked familiar. Another quick look around revealed a new suspiciously painted wagon, he shakes his head turning back to the two before him. "Pardon me lass, is your store still open?"

Cosmic gave a slight nod to Trixie as she walked away.. Honestly she wouldn't be that bad if she would just tone it down a notch. Turning back to the product that Megabyte had presented him, he looked at with much curiosity.
"That is not a bad price given the potential applications of your product." Cosmic smiled at Megabyte. These cells would be perfect if the limitations of the recharge can be expanded to more than just unicorns. That really is the only limiting factor because of the charging needed by magic. But the energy application was right in Cosmic's wheel house.
Now her other invention seemed interesting as well.. but the technology used for it was something he was not quite familiar with as he was with the energy cell technology. "You have some really innovated devices here." Cosmic honestly stated with a bit of excitement in his voice. Oh Cosmic did love to come across something new. Especially involving technology such as this.
A sudden voice of another pony interrupted the two. Cosmic nodded at the new comer. It was not his place to say if the stand was open or not. That would be left to Megabyte here.

Megabyte smiled with pride as she listened to Cosmic's interest in her devices and inventions. "Thank you very much. They all took a year of planning minimum to just complete their design, and a few more months for the initial building of them, so I feel as if they're my children in a sense." She replied with a smile, carefully picking up the cell she had left for display, tucking it away in her saddlebag again. "I'd be more than willing to sell you a cell or two for a discounted price since you seem so interested in them. Think of it as a new to Ponyville sale." She offered, blinking a few times and looking towards the source of the new voice that had appeared in the fading evening light.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I'm not really a shop or anything like that. I actually just arrived here not even an hour ago." She replied politely, not minding the simply mistake. "But, I do sell some things. You seem to be in either mining or demolition if I guess your cutie mark right. I think I have something that you'll love to have, but I won't force anything you didn't come for onto you or anything. That's just a mean way to make a sale." She sighed, starting to shrink down a bit when she began to feel that she might have pressured the stranger a bit too much without meaning to

Blast puts a hoof up defensively looking over to Cosmic, "I am sorry, my good colt, I didn't mean to interrupt your two's business here." He then extends his hoof towards him, "Name's Blast Box... Have we met, I dare say you look familiar." He looks back over to megabyte, "I am sorry for assuming you were selling anything, it just looked from far away that..." He finds himself a bit overwhelmed over the outpour of energy from the pony now telling him about her special items. He nods hesitantly at her sales pitch, "You'd be right my dear mare, mining and demolition has been my game for quite some time."
He can't help but smile at Megabyte when he sees her almost recoil from her own excitement. "It's alright lass, no worries you sound like you have a product and you're looking to move it. I like to see a pony proud of her work. I'd love to have a look at your wares." His eyes carefully looking over the pony and her set up, as well as closely examining the colt to his side. He can't help but look over at cosmic again, "I swear I've seen you before, friend."

"No no it's fine sir." Cosmic stated looking at the new comer. Well it would not surprise me if he had heard or even recognized him. I have not He waited as for the two of them to chat before addressing Megabyte again. It was a public setting as it were, all potential customers should be treated the same.
"A discount you say? That would be very generous of you miss?" Cosmic smiled. "By the way I am Cosmic Radiance." He pulled out a card. "Here is my card with my information on it." The card has Cosmic's place of work, the Academy of Higher Science and engineering of Canterlot. As well as his title of being a professor there. "And who might I call you?" He asked.
