Toola was barely listening, too focused on what she was making to really care about anything else significant - this included anything and everything that wasn't the canvas in front of her. All her attention was focused on the task at hand, and that was making food.

In about ten minutes time, Toola-Roola was finished with her painting - a still life picture of a basket of apples. Smiling, Toola stepped back and admired it, though she'd need to wait for it to dry before doing anything with it. Her attention finally snapped back to Puzzle, and she smiled as she realized that the filly was also painting.

"Oh, I forgot. My name is Toola-Roola. Yours?" she asked, somehow managing to answer a question she hadn't even heard.

Puzzle's ears flapped a few times after Toola spoke. "Toola-Roola... ten letters, plus twenty-six..." She went back to hoofpainting on the floor before she responded to the other filly's own inquiry.

"Puzzle Pigment. Name is Puzzle Pigment. Hi Toola-Roola filly. Parabola likes you." She said, before her speech went back into incomprehensible sequences of numbers and functions. "Six X plus ten times four... forty three point six six six..."

A reasonable length of time had passed, Puzzle continuing to work on the equation while Toola-Roola literally watched paint dry, but before long Toola smiled again. "You hungry?" she asked, before her horn began to glow. She stared at the painting before her for a few seconds, then stuck her hoof out. Instead of hitting against the painting as logic would have dictated, Toola reached into the painting, pulling out one of the apples and offering it to Puzzle Pigment.

Puzzle flinched, looking up and staring at the apple. Her horn, buried under her unkempt mane, gave a faint purple glow through the hair, and the apple was lifted towards her. "This is apple. Didn't hear you move. Where did you get it? Apples don't come from air..." She looked at her numbers on the floor, ears twitching slightly before she looked back at Toola-Roola.

"Date... date... need your birth-date. When were you born?" She asked, idly munching the apple.

(And using a random date generator...)

"I made it." Toola replied, smiling as Puzzle bit down into the apple and began to chew. "Didn't you see me, I was doing it right in front of you." There was a pause, then she reached into the painting again, taking an apple for herself and taking a bite out of it. "April twenty-third." she added, almost as an afterthought as she watched the other pony work.

Puzzle's ears flapped as she stared at her equation, blinking. This wasn't right. This couldn't be right. She looked back up at Toola munching her own apple. "Filly. This one works. You work. You don't see the numbers but you work."

She gestured to her vordinate system. Two dots, connected by a line segment in between. "This one's you." She pointed at one dot before traacing her hoof along the line to the other dot. "This one is me. they never connect befpre. it has never worked before. you work."

Exactly what Puzzle meant, nopony could possibly hope to understand. Nevertheless a smile came to the painter's face as she listened to not-Dewdrop explain this line of hers. "And what happens when it works?" she asked, taking another bite from the apple.

"Works." Puzzle repeated the word, ears flapping. Her mouth showedno emotion. The pert frown wasn't upset or unhappy, but in her eyes, there was a sudden flare, excitement had entered Puzzle. "Works. Works! Never worked before. Supposed to tell who's... who's special. Special and someone we need to be with, to... to..." Her brow furrowed in thought, trying to think of how to describe it.

"We." She began again, gesturing to the two of them. "Us. You and us and maybe them. Supposed to do... something together. We're... we're connected... I'm here for a reason. That's what it means. You're important for... something. I don't know. Know." Puzzle said the word a few more times. "Know... We need to know." The house creaked ominously in the background.

Toola still didn't get it, but for Puzzle's sake she continued to pretend to smile. Apparently what she had found in her numbers was something important to her and her alone, because Toola didn't have the slightest idea. Finishing the apple, she set the core down on a piece of white paper before turning her full attention toward Puzzle. "Friends?" she asked, before continuing with "Even if your colors are really off?

Puzzle once again stared at Toola Roola unblinking. "Friends?" She had never had actual friends before. She had felt lonely before, wondering why the other fillies and colts didn't like her, but then the numbers came, and with it her invasive other personalities.

"I've never had any friends." Puzzle stated bluntly. If she was sad about this fact there were no signs of it. She looked down at her self. What was wrong with her color? She liked her color. Still, this was the first pony her age to ask what her equation meant instead of if she was high or if she was a super retard. She didn' even know what that was. "Okay." she said after a small silence, giving an unsure and awkward smile, trying to mimic what Toola was doing. "Friends."

(You have any idea on what should happen now? Should we end the thread, keep it going, what?)

(We can end it if you like, and make another thread wherein Puzzle starts visiting her more.)
