Wavelength walked off of the castle grounds, still levitating two pieces of paper in front of his face as he made his way down the lonely streets of Canterlot. One of the papers was a notice that had been given to him right as he left that he would be leading escorting the Artillery unit to the semi-annual Magic Missile Showdown out in Las Pegasus. The Showdown attracted sharp shooters from around Equestria to try their hooves at becoming the next big thing in marksmanship. The competition hadn't been all that exciting for Wavelength while he was competing, mainly because it wasn't difficult for him to win, but this year he was finally going to be able to just enjoy the festivities and watch as the Artillery squad represented him and the rest of the Equestrian Military. He wasn't sure if any of them would be able to win the individual contest, but he was sure they would take home the gold in the group competition. Wavelength nodded then rolled the paper back into a scroll and sealed it with his magic before placing it into his uniform pocket.
The second was a slightly more pressing matter concerning a speech he was supposed to put on at the Military Banquet in a few weeks concerning the importance of the spy networks they had placed throughout the world. The idea had sparked a rather heated debate among a vast majority of the on-duty officers about whether or not the spies were really necessary and were more a risk than an asset. He had tried to tell them time and time again that the idea of having a spy network was a good idea at the end of the day and that the knowledge they brought was more than worth the risk, "Maybe if they actually saw some evidence that the plans the spies learn about actually occur I wouldn't have to keep explaining to them that they are important."
Luckily for them, none of those plans had ever seen the light of day because of Eclipse's efforts to keep the peace around Equestria. The fools didn't understand just how many times the country had almost gone to war, only to be saved by himself and his old partners. It was terrifying to think about how many enemies Equestria really had.
Yet despite how scary it was, the fact that they, as a country, had enemies was nothing to be surprised about. Equestria was the forefront of technology, an economy that hadn't seen a major recession or depression in Celestia knows how many years, and one of the strongest military forces in the world. On top of that, they had two living Goddesses as their rulers.
Wavelength let out a sigh and immolated the piece of paper, letting the ashes blow away in the wind so that any evidence of the extensive spy network was lost forever. A couple of ponies around him noticed the burst of flames, but chose to ignore it once they noticed that it was the Major who had committed the act. A couple of them choosing to greet him now that he wasn't busy.
Wave remembered back when he couldn't walk around the corner without somepony making a point of greeting him from across the street. Back then he had been much more social than he was now, often going to clubs and drinking to excess and going to every social event that he could afford to go to. Now his trips to the club had turned into having a couple of drinks at his favorite bar, and the number of events that he went to were a lot less than he hoped.
He turned the corner and found himself face to face with a familiar place, The Handsome Gentlemare, a place that he had frequented for the last few years. He usually came with a couple of friends from work, but today he decided to walk into the bar solo, intending to have a drink and some food before he made his way home.
The inside of the bar was lit pretty well with pictures of laughing ponies and kissing lovers covering the walls. The atmosphere of the place was something that Wave really loved about it. The smiling faces on the wall seemed to lift the spirits of anyone who came inside, the alcohol only adding to that feeling.
He took a seat at the bar and motioned the bartender over, "Seven and Ginger ale, my good colt," he said as he placed a few bits on the bar and waited for his drink to come. From what he could tell, it was going to be a lonely night, and for once, he didn't mind.

Donna finally hadn't taken a vacation. She needed it. She could finally be herself. She could be who she really was. She had arrived in Canterlot last night and had spent the day shopping. She had bought soooo many clothes. She could have gotton some at Carosel Boutquie back in Ponyville but it would have been...too risky. Tonight however she felt like a drink. By her hotel was a bar called The Handsome Gentlemare. She decided to enter to get some alcohol and to eat something. as she entered, she felt her spirits lifted. Like she could do anything. She went to the bar and sat by a strappingly handsome stallion. "Barkeep?" She then asked with the voice of an angel. "Vodka and Orange juice please?" She then laid out a few bits on the table and waited for her drink. While waiting, she tried sneek some glances the the stallion next to her when he wasn't looking. If his head started to turn, she would turn her's the other way.

Wavelength looked over at the pony sitting next to him, the bar was actually pretty empty, so there must have been a reason she had chosen to sit next to him. His drink came not too long after she sat down, Wave then took up the drink and nodded in thanks to the bartender before taking a sip. He remembered a few years ago when a mixed drink like this one would already be gone, but now he chose to savor his drinks a little longer.
Wavelength knew the mare sitting next to him was continuously looking over at him, he knew why, he was attractive, or at least that's what other ponies used to tell him. However, he wasn't really looking for that kind of meeting while he was here, at least not with a pony who was obviously interested but wasn't confident enough to actually say hello.
He sighed and turned to the mare, "Hello," he said in a calm voice, "Did you want something, or were you just going to keep staring at me all night?"

After spending most of the summer in Ponyville on an extended trip, Glacial Breeze had finally returned to her real home in Canterlot. Her time in Ponyville had been rather enjoyable, but nothing quite compared to her comfort of her real home in Canterlot. The familiarity of the local hot spots, where off hour military ponies would gather and the such. Most could be found hitting the night Scene in the many local pubs and restaraunts. One could always go there, if you wanted to here a nice tale or two of the heroics from the military officers and cadets there. What was rare though was to encounter those of the higher ranks at such a place.
Figuring she could use a good story or two, Glacial Breeze elected for her first night back in Canterlot, such a trip to the Handsome Gentlemare. This was a place frequented by many such militarily inclined ponies during the off hours. A good story along with a few drinks. Sounded like a great night out to Glacial Breeze.
Entering the Bar with a grin, Glacial Breeze took a nice long intake of the air inside the restraunt. These type of places carried an unmistakeable smell to them. The alcoholic scent in the air, the various scents of other ponies in the room. Yes, nothing quite like the atmosphere of these places. The bar on this particular night was less than busy, but not empty. Shrugging her shoulders Glacial Breeze made her way over the bar, waving the bar tender over to her.
She had ordered a rather light starter drink before looking over to the other two who were already at the bar. The stallion, who almost no one in Canterlot did not know by this time, was none other than Wavelength. Though she had never had a chance to get a story out of him before. Maybe tonight would be the chance. I'm sure he had some great stories to tell. On the other side of him was some other pony.. she seemed to be staring at him awfully hard. Looks like Wavelength caught some mare's eye. She chuckled to herself before turning back and looking at the bar tender work his art at making drinks.

Prima's drink was quickly delivered. She wanted to talk to the handsome stallion next to her. What if she did something and it got to the point where he would find out. What if he riticuled her and left her? She decided that it would not get that far. So she decided that she was going to talk to him. She then drank her drink in one gulp. She was about to say something when the stallion spoke first. He had noticed her looking at him. Her hand was caught in the cookie jar. But oh how she wanted those cookies. "Maaaybe?" Prima then said in a sultry tone. "I was just admiring the view. How about you honey? Are you admiring the view?"

Wavelength rolled his eyes at the blonde mare, "I wouldn't call it admiring the view, more like making a note of your presence, but that's not important at this point," he said as he took another sip of his drink. He took a note of how quickly this mare was drinking her beverage, praying to Celestia that she wouldn't get too belligerent while he was still around. It was always a possibility that someone would get too drunk, but tonight he really wasn't in the mood to deal with that.
He lifted his drink up with his horn and turned around on the stool, looking over the rest of the bar to see if there was anyone else he recognized. There were a few familiar faces, regulars like him and a few ponies who he often saw around town. Most of the faces weren't really anything special, except for one aquamarine colored unicorn. This one was definitely familiar around the lower ranks, they often talked about this nice mare who was always curious about the stories they had to tell, no matter how boring they were. He had never actually seen her besides a few passing glances on the streets of Canterlot, but tonight he decided that it would be a good night to formally introduce himself.
He levitated his drink in front of him and got down off of the stool, "Excuse me, miss, but I see one of my friends across the bar, I hope you don't mind if I go meet up with her," he said as he made his way across the room towards the aquamarine unicorn.
It didn't take long for him to get to a seat next to hers, "Hello, miss," Wavelength said as he got up on the stool and set his drink down, "I hear you like stories. Lucky for you, I've got enough stories to write a series of light novels as well as a few short stories and maybe a ballad or two," he said with a chuckle.
He held out his hoof to her, "The name's Wavelength, and its a pleasure to meet you."

Seeing as the there was not too large of a crowed in the room. Glacial could not help but over hear the Blonde haired mare try her little line on Wavelength. It was cute in a way, but Glacial did not think it would work on such a person of high ranks such as Wavelength. She probably did not even know who he was based on the way she presented herself to Wave.
True enough Wavelength brushed off her initial advances as it were. To her surprise though, he made his way over to him. Maybe I'll get a story this night all! Taking quick sip of her drink, prior to him arriving, she gave a smile and waved at him as he introduced himself. "Oh I think everyone knows who you are Major." Glacial greeted Wavelength back. "It is a pleasure to meet you face to face though." She gave him a proper greeting with her second statement.
Looking back toward the mare Wavelength had just walked away from she could not help but question Wavelengths motives. "So why you leave your little friend over there." Glacial asked curiously. "She seemed rather interested in you don't you think?" Glacial faked an innocent tone there. "You playing hard to get tonight or something?" She knew Wavelength was probably not playing any type of games like that, b ut hey it was nice to lighten the mood here in this sort of situation. This place is meant for relaxation after all. Glacial was not sure if her attempt at putting him on the spot like that would be successful or not.

Donna's heart sank as she saw the handsome stallion walk away. she new she had messed up. She shouldn't have stared so much. But what would you do if a handsome stallion was right next to you? She couldn't help it. She then sighed and tried to forget. Then somthing caught her eye. She saw the handsome stallion hanging out with a very sexy mare. How did she get him? what was her secret? Donna had to know. So she walked over to the table. "Excuse me darling." She then said to the mare. "I'm sorry if I'm interupting but I must know. How do you get your hair to look so magnificent?" She then sat next to the mare.

Wavelength chuckled at Glacial, "Trust me, I know when a mare is interested in me," he said as he sipped his drink, "But my life of having one night stands and sleeping with any mare I want to is behind me. Its gotten to the point in my life where I'm looking to settle down with a nice girl and maybe start a family."
He could instantly understand why the Cadets liked this mare, she was easy to talk to, "To answer your second question, I'm not playing hard to get. I'm playing I just got off work and I want to have a drink and relax a bit, but that's beside the point," he said as he set his drink down on the bar and turned once again to face her, "So, what game are you playing tonight? Or are you really here to see if there are any military ponies willing to recollect a couple battles for you?"
Yes, he could definitely see why the Cadets like this one. It was so easy to talk with her, so natural, like she was an old friend despite the fact that they had just met that night. The fact that she was rather easy on the eyes definitely added to her charm though, and he could see some cadets just getting back from their first campaign becoming quite smitten with the mare.
That's when the mare from before walked over from where he had left her on the other side of the bar. He rolled his eyes again as she started asking Glacial about her hair, it was as if she wasn't used to having hair that long.

Glacial let out a quick chuckle at wave. "Yea alright I'll let you off the hook then." She could of continued press that issue, but that would delay what she wanted for the night. He was here for pretty much the same reason. Relax, have a fun, a few drinks, and some entertainment. A relaxing night out.
"Game you say?" Glacial rose an eyebrow. "What makes you think its a game?" She smiled innocently again. "What's wrong with getting a few good stories from a few cadets and officers now and then?" Glacial put her front elbows on the the table. "They do get very amusing to listen to, and the parts they make extra flamboyant." The stories were obviously always exaggerate, and their attempts to self glorify themselves. It was great entertainment. "It also makes their night when they get a person, especially a mare, to listen to their stories." She shrugged. "I get a good story, and they get get to boast. It's really a win win scenario don't you think?"
Before Wavelength could mutter a response, the other pony that he was talking to earlier had come over. She wanted to know how she kept her hair this nice. "My hair?" Glacial looked up at her bangs. "Oh it's not as hard as it seems really. Just daily cleaning as well as a few touch ups every few weeks here and there." Glacial explained. This was not the first time she had been asked about her hair. Yea she did keep it maintained, but it was not like she stressed over it every day. Honestly the other mare hair style seemed like it would be harder to maintain than hers. "Your hair looks fine the way it is miss?" Glacial tilted her head.

Donna's heart soared at mare's remark. "Thank you darling. I do try." Donna then said. "But I always like to change from time to time. Hey! Maybe we can share techniques. You wouldn't would you miss..."

"I'm sure they just exaggerate to try and impress you," Wavelength said with a chuckle, "Its an age old trick that young stallions use to get pretty mares to sleep with them. However, its a trick that tends to only work on the very stupid or the very drunk, and you don't seem like the kind of mare that would be either of those things." Then again, Wavelength never really had to make up an over exaggerated version of his tales, because every single one of them was true down to the kill count at the end of the battle. It came with the territory of being the best in the business.
"So what kind of story do you want to hear?" He asked Glacial as he took a sip of his drink, "I've got tons of them. I've got tales of love and loss, tales of triumph, a couple of defeat, of near defeats that turned into crushing victories. Tales of strategy in the war room, of partying little too hard, of going behind enemy lines with nothing but my bow and the clothes on my back. I've got stories to go with just about any kind of mood. Stories that will lift your spirits and stories that will send you spiraling down into a deep depression for the rest of the night. Stories of lovers and friends and scientific experiments. I even have a story about aliens, but that one didn't actually happen."

"Share techniques?" She really did not have to many special techniques about styling really. "I'm sure I don't have any secret techniques to keep my hair the way it is." Honestly Glacial did not come here to discuss hygiene with another mare. It really was not the place and was putting her mood off slightly. "Why don't we listen to one of Wave's story instead?" She was hoping this would change Yellow haired mare's topic.
Turning her attention back to Wavelength. They all sounded pretty interesting, but which one could she choose. Most stories she had heard were of battle heroics and the like. Rarely did the others tell any stories about their lovers and friends. And as far as she could recall none of about aliens. Glacial gave giggle at that last one. "Let's go with that party one for now." Glacial stated. Those seemed to be the most entertaining and were always brought a good amount of humor with them. "So what kind of.. outlandish parties have you been through?"

"Oh stories!" Donna said generally intriged. "I love stories. That is if Wave doesn't mind me listening. But I don't think I properly introduced myself. I'm Prima Donna." She extended a hoof to each pony.

Wavelength let his head droop when they suggested he tell a story about one of the parties he went to. "I just want you to remember," he said to the pair, "That I was a different pony back when this story took place."
He cleared his throat and thought back to a time eight years ago when he was one of Canterlot's biggest socialites. "The party took place before the Summer Sun Celebration and was held at the Playcolt Mansion, a place I used to frequent back in my younger years. The party started at six pm the day before and ended when Celestia raised the sun for the celebration. Needless to say, there was a large amount of alcohol and I drank... too much, let's go with too much. I got there around 6:30 and started drinking immediately, not ten minutes into the event two mares came up to me and just started talking to me. They seemed nice, and they were obviously interested in me so of course they stuck to me like glue for a couple of hours."
Wavelength cleared his throat and took a drink, "It was about ten p.m. and by this time we had already transitioned into the bedroom to do what a young stallion and two gorgeous mares do when they're wasted at the Playcolt mansion. We were there until 11 and the girls were already too exhausted to get back out of the bed, but I had a party to get back to, so I made my way back downstairs to rejoin the festivities. Not ten minutes later, I found myself with another mare, this time she was actually rather famous and not just some random slut at a party. Pardon my language, but that was the only way I could think to describe them."
"Now I'd rather not give out the name of this mare, but let's just say that she's been in movies, plays, and that just about everyone knows her name. Seems that she didn't really want to stick around for the whole event and wanted to take a break from the crowd and have a bit of a wander around town. Of course, me being a member of the military and a lifelong resident of Canterlot, I decided to be her escort," he cleared his throat, "Well, she actually suggested that I show her around town and I was happy to oblige. We went all over the place, laughing, drinking, talking, occasionally stopping to make out in a dark alleyway and generally doing what two famous people do when they're almost too drunk to walk straight."
"Soon enough, some rather stupid suggestions come up and of course my drunkenness doesn't let me refuse her requests. One of them was that we should try and seduce Princess Celestia, an act that I would never perform if I hadn't been so trashed. So we sneak into the castle and go up to the Princess's room at which time I begin to try and seduce her by any means possible. I'm talking jokes, stories, mating dances, you name it I did it. Of course, the Princess was not amused and we were both sent to the Dungeon until we sobered up. However, I came out learning a very valuable lesson."
He took one last sip of his drink and said, "A dungeon is the best place to have sex hoofs down," he said with a sly grin, remembering back to that night with fond memories.
"That's the end of that story though."
