The LSF, or Lunar Special Forces, is one of Equestria's most powerful assets. They perform military operations that require more stealth and precision than a normal platoon of soldiers could provide. The were created about a year after the return of Luna, to help balance the power between the two princesses.
The faction started originally over a thousand years ago as an order of knights called Lunar Shadow. They were completely loyal to the lunar goddess, to the point where they would volunteer for suicide missions if the opportunity arose, even knowing they would likely die. This loyalty inspired many to enlist in the ranks, but only a select few were allowed into the what seemed sacred order. The number of knights never rose above 131. Why that was is yet to be found on record.
Training in the LSF attempts to hold true to recruiting only the most motivated and physically capable warriors into it's ranks. They have kept their numbers at a consistent 131 warriors, and hold true to the ancient code of Honor, Loyalty, Discipline and most importantly, Ferocity. Ferocity being important as the LSF is meant to be a strike and evade force.
Training is highly intense and meant to condition soldiers to the harshest wartime conditions possible to harden them into fearless warriors of the night.
