Birds sing a soft symphony as ponies walk around Ponyville in the midday sun. Clearly on their a-game, the pegasi had cleared the skies so the warm sun shone down upon the ponyville residents unhindered. Two figures stand in front of a building, scrutinizing it. A unicorn stallion with a dark gray coat, rather small of stature, and a younger looking undiscernible figure clad in a black cloak.
Actinician looks up at the building that stands before him before glancing back down at the small card in his crimson aura. Doctor S. Therapy Ponyville Manor Room 203 Ponyville, Equestria He chuckles to himself. "Quaint little place, Ponyville...Hope it's the right one and I won't be intruding. He didn't really give me any office hours, did he Red?" He mutters quietly over his shoulder. "I wonder how one would...Bah, no matter." He tucks the card back into the pocket of his white dress shirt, adjusting his labcoat to rest comfortably over his back. "Well, I suppose dawdling out here is getting us nowhere." He laughs, pushing the door open and stepping inside.
Red yawns, stepping into the large mansion after Flask, her golden mane flowing slightly out of her dark cloak. The two walk through the building before finally setting upon Room 203. "I believe this is the place." Flask states, looking over his shoulder at red. "Truly hope it was an open invitation. I'd hate to be interrupting something." He raises his hoof, rapping on the door three times.

The mansion was fairly quiet that afternoon, as all of it's denizens were out for the afternoon. All but two, who currently resided in the third room from the left on the second floor of Ponyville Manor. Livewire was idly cleaning his collection scalpels while his apprentice, Blue Cross, did what she was used to since she'd been brought the the Manor; Reading and learning from the tens of thousands of pages of notes that Livewire had kept over his lifetime, recording his medical research.
Such a life of cleaning scalpels wasn't going to get the hybrid anywhere though. There was trash out there to take care of, and he was wasting precious time that could be better spent getting rid of it. He couldn't rightfully do anything about it in broad daylight though. He'd just wait for the next full moon, when his prey would be out and about under the stars.
As Livewire prepared to get up and retrieve something to eat from the kitchen, two ponies crossed his detection runes in the front of mansion. Someponies...new to the area. With a bit of a glare toward the door, he sat back down. It wasn't worth risking his identity for a few apples. Luckily, as fate would have it, the ponies that had crossed into his territory seemed to make their way upstairs, and knock on his door. That was odd...ponies didn't usually just come to him randomly. The hybrid motioned to Cross to get the door for him, and she complied, making her way over to open the door just a crack. She peaked out of it at the two ponies.
"Y-yes, can I help you?"

Flask smiles softly, his eyes, betraying his cheery demeanor, apathetic and uncaring. "Ah! Yes, I am Dr.Actinican Flask. And this is my...Assistant, Red Shift." He gestures to the cloaked figure with one of his hooves. I was invited here by one 'Doctor S. Therapy'? He may not be expecting me, as he didn't really give me any specific time...However, I was in the area and decided to drop by." He continues to smile, knowing how unlikely that story sounded. "I don't suppose he's in?"
Red stands behind him quietly, playing with her mane with a bored expression on her face. She yawns once more, nodding a greeting to the mare that had answered the door.

Cross looked back at Livewire nervously, who had gotten up from his desk, a smile on his face. She didn't see the Doctor smile very often, and it was honestly a bit unnerving. She gave a small nod back to the mare that had done the same for her, and stepped away, allowing Livewire to open the door.
"Ah, Actinician, good day. I haven't heard from you in quite some time now. I trust you've been well in the biology business?"

Flask chuckles, adjusting his glasses. The light gleams off of them, casting an ethereal reflection as he smiles warmly at Livewire. "Ah, yes. Quite so, actually. I've managed to stabilize that sample from before. In addition, I have made other developments in my research. Quite riveting if I do say so myself." Flask runs a hoof through his short mane, a bit more unkempt than usual from his lack of sleep. "And how about yourself?"
Red stands behind him, gazing from beneath her hood as Actinician speaks with Livewire. 'I still don't trust him...' She thinks to herself, her face devoid of any emotion. She yawns as she impatiently scuffs the floor with her right forehoof.
Hearing Red behind him, Flask clears his throat as his eyes dart to Cross. "Ah! Where are my manners today?" He asks rhetorically. "My name is doctor Actinician Flask. This is my...Daughter, Red Shift." He says to her, bowing shortly, his labcoat fluttering behind him. His hollow smile never falters as his eyes gaze up from beneath his glasses.

Livewire fully opened up the door and ushered his guests in as Cross took a few uneasy steps back over to where she'd been sitting, and continued to look uneasily at these new arrivals. "N-nice to meet you both. I'm Blue Cross, Doctor Therapy's assistant." She wasn't very used to ponies coming into the Manor to visit Livewire that weren't already injured. These ones seemed to have some other agenda in mind.
"Please, please come inside. Glad to hear that you've stabilized the serum you had last time. I'd be lying if I didn't say that the results were...messy, to say the least. Directly after that encounter though, the owner of that cave came back, carrying little Blue Cross in tow. Your idea of having a lab assistant struck me as somewhat intelligent, so I took Cross off of Trinity's paws, in return for cleaning up that cave. All in all, a fine deal for me."
Livewire took a seat of his own, offering two more to his guests. "Other than that, I've been quite well. Experimenting on my rings, and keeping up my skills in the medical field have been the norm around here." The hybrid took out a flask of water, and drank from it for a short time. "So, what brings you two down here to Ponyville? Just a casual visit, hm?"

"Nice to meet you as well, Blue Cross. I'm a..." Flask stops speaking, raising a hoof to rub the base of his chin as he ponders for a moment. "Friend? Yes, Friend of Doctor Therapy." Flask tells Cross, not entirely sure if that description is accurate. "I've been meaning to stop by for a while now. Trade a bit of research data and what-have-you." Flask nods to Livewire, entering the room. He rubs the back of his neck, a bit embarrassed."Yes...I suppose it was quite messy. I've had to clean a similar experiment up myself a great number of times..." He says, laughing uneasily. "Ah, yes! Assistants do come in handy." he laughs, Red entering the room after him. As she steps up to his side he places a hoof on her head. "It speeds the process up as well, as you don't have to worry about the prepping yourself. Sometimes I don't know what I would do without my Red."
Flask begins to look around the room, taking in his surroundings. He never really felt comfortable outside of his own home but his experimentation had begun to run a bit dry. Truth be told, the whole reason for this visit was for him to get a bit of fresh air. A kind of break from the usual, and what better way to break the usual than spending a moment with the unusual? "I was just in the area and felt it was about time I drop in for a visit. I do hope dropping in unannounced was okay though. Terribly sorry if I'm interrupting something."

Cross continued to fidget uncomfortably in her seat, before turning back to the notes that she'd been reading over. At the moment, she'd come across a few passages on ways that Livewire had found to reroute contaminated blood into a single part of the body, for easier experimentation, and extraction. His work wasn't always necessarily pleasant to read about, along with his sketches of the diseased and rotted limbs that had come from his first several tries at the procedure, but as he told her, that was the price of progress sometimes.
Livewire nodded his head as Flask looked around the room, no doubt getting used to the area. Unlike most of the rooms on this floor of the mansion, which were large, and open, Livewire had erected a wall down the middle of his room. The section that they were currently in was his basic living quarters, marked by his bed, and a couple of desks, riddled with papers and assorted notes. Beyond the wall, which had a usually securely locked metal door protecting it, an operating lab of sorts could be seen through the open door.
"You're quite right that they come in handy. Cross has been running over my notes, and organizing them all for me, taking in the information as she goes. I'm quite grateful for such a thing. With how busy I get, I'd never be able to get all of that done on my own." It seemed as though the visit from Flask was purely casual, judging by the unicorn's words. That was fine in itself, although he'd hoped for an experiment or two. "You're really not interrupting anything right now, Actinician. Been fairly quiet around Ponyville lately."

As Livewire tells him that things around Ponyville have been quiet, a gleam runs across Flask's glasses as his soft smile splits into a grin with a slightly more sinister overtone. "Oh? Then you're not busy?" He asks casually, turning slightly to Red as he speaks to Livewire. He ponders for a moment, a look of determination in his eyes as he carefully contemplates what he's going to say next. Not knowing the extent of information Livewire has allowed cross, he decides to keep the details vague.
"I have a bit of a request. Well, more of a proposal really." He states calmly, as his eyes dart back to Livewire. "You remember the...subject that I had in your laboratory, yes? Well, as I told you before, that wasn't my first of such experimentation." Red steps back away from Flask as he begins to speak. Her eyes widen as she quivers slightly. "Well, first, let me start off by asking you how secure you are in your containment abilities, as well as your restraint when dealing with patients you have no intention of...losing." He chuckles to himself. "Perhaps well enough to contain...oh...A post adolescent dragon?"
Red trembles slightly, knowing full well where Actinican is going with his offer. She gulps, looking down as her hood continues to shield her face, her blond mane cascading over her shoulders as her breaths deepen a bit. Actinician continues to coolly look at Livewire, awaiting an answer before making his proposal.

As the hybrid was preparing to change his train of thought from medical arts over to more casual conversation, Flask's expression changed, upon hearing that Ponyville had been quiet. Livewire raised an eyebrow at the biologist's sudden change. With any luck, this day would turn out eventful after all. He had no problems with doing a bit of science if Flask was up to it. That was just the thing though.
"I do recall the subject, yes. I also recall your disappoint upon it's...destabilization." For some reason, Red Shift had started to take a few steps back from Flask. An odd thing to do, just for a few words about the manticore-pony that the unicorn had attempted to create out of that unwilling test subject. It all seemed to be a very common thing that Flask would do, as he said that it wasn't his first time trying such a thing. "My lab here in the Manor is usually for my more...normal patients, truth be told. I have a few nearby labs, through the mountains and forests, and an emergency back-up down in the sub-basement." Well, there really was no sub-basement to Ponyville Manor. It was more of a small cavern that Trinity had dug out, and helped him reenforce with assorted metals, in the event that the war made it to Ponyville.
"My restraints are second to none, however. I've held plenty of bloodthirsty beasts under paralysis and sedation while operating on them. A dragon though..." He grinned and put one of his hooves against his muzzle in thought. Dragons didn't exactly just come waltzing along every day. He'd held lycans for quite some time before, and they were incredibly physically strong themselves. Most dragons were naturally resistant to magic though. That could spell a few issues with his...methods. "I have faith in my ability to hold any kind of subject that's brought to me, Actinician."
Seeing Red Shift really start to do what appeared to be panicking was beginning to distract Cross from her readings. If she was that doctor's apprentice, or lab assistant, and was this afraid of whatever he had in mind, it could spell nothing but trouble for her own doctor. Livewire picked up on the filly's discomfort, and looked back at Flask again. "...What exactly did you have in mind?"

Flask's grin brightens as his eyes widen. "Splendid! Simply splendid!" He laughs darkly as a strand of his unruly mane falls into his eyes. He runs his hoof through his mane, smoothing the strand back once more as he reaches into his purely white labcoat with his crimson aura, feeling around for a moment before pulling out a medium sized syringe with a two inch long needle. Inside the clear glass cylinder was a thick black oil like ichor. He leans into Livewire a bit, holding it between the two. Red shift backs up, her back bumping into the wall as she trembles, falling into a state of panic. She whimpers slightly as she looks at Actinician. "P-please Master Flask. It...You're different! You can't right now!" she exclaims. Flask clenches his teeth, looking over his shoulder and glaring darkly at her. She gulps, falling silent as she finds sudden interest in the ground. Flask's piercing glare shifts back into his dark grin as he looks back to Livewire.
"I've almost perfected it. Just a bit more and I know I can control it." He says quickly, his eyes not leaving the syringe. "The only problem is that it only works on myself, and I can hardly conduct research on myself while...under its influence. It's quite similar to what you saw before in your laboratory, save significantly more stable and significantly more..." He chuckles, his eyes narrowing as he continues to turn the needle over in his magic, eyeing it as if it were the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen. "Potent. That's where you come in."
He takes a step back, holding out his hoof. "You place me in a given area in which I might be contained. Red shift, here, administers the serum and gets out quickly. After which, you observe me and conduct a few tests, of which I have planned in advance. The serum should wear off in a couple of hours, and upon regaining consciousness you share with me what you learned." He beams at Livewire, proud of his idea and happy for a friend he believes can conduct the research almost to his own ability. "So? What say you?"

Livewire's mind set into overdrive as Flask revealed the syringe, filled with a black material. An allegedly perfected form of the serum that he'd seen used on that Earth pony back in Ghastly Gorge would be the most amazing advancement he'd seen in quite some time. In all the hybrid's time using his craft to remove things from ponies, he'd never fully taken to his teacher's ways of adding, and adapting equines to become...more than they already were. Crimson Sunset had been called a madpony by most, and for very good reason. The unicorn had experimented on himself, shifting his old, calm and stable mind, into one of a maddened passion. Still genius, yes, but...never the same.
Here Flask was in front of him, a new friend that actually understood the value and costs of his work, wanting to go down a similar path. Livewire was absolutely against the idea of experimenting on himself but...this wouldn't be doing that. He'd be helping another great, scientific mind further their own research. Crimson Sunset had gone on to do great, wondrous things after his self-experiments. Not always neccessarily wise decisions, to be sure, but still groundbreaking all the same. Red Shift backing into a wall and collapsing was a bit disheartening, but what did she know? That filly didn't have access to the kinds of things he did, nor did she likely possess the intellect required to contain such a beast.
Livewire thought long and hard on Flask's offer, hanging his head in silence for nearly a full minute before turning back up to the doctor, a similar dark grin plastered on his own face. "I say that I'd be glad to help, my fellow doctor. I will require a small bit of time to prepare OL0-DN3 down below before we get started, however. If you'd permit me, I'd also like to take a sample of your blood upon your transformation. I understand the risk ahead of time of such a thing. I believe I've prepared a way to collect such a sample though. In the event that you agree to my suggested terms, then we have a deal, Actinician." Livewire held out his hoof, feeling a full relapse into his old ways coming on. He'd shortly considered attempting to live a peaceful life, operating on those that required it, but this opportunity was much more tantalizing.

Flask is visibly overcome with joy as livewire offers his terms. "Fantastic! Simply fantastic!" He exclaims, almost dancing in place with excitement. This may actually help him unlock the full potential of the serum that has been locked away since its development. Flask practically giggles as he clasps his hooves together, his mane falling back into his face. He hadn't been this excited in some time, since his creation of Red to be exact. This could be groundbreaking. He might even be able to find a way to control himself after the beast takes over! Another step to perfecting the imperfect equine race down.
He patiently watches Livewire as he sets his terms, grinning madly as he bounces on his hooves. "Yes! Of course! Just...Just be careful. I haven't actually consciously seen what I'm capable of, but I've seen the end result. It is not pretty." he warns with an uneasy chuckle. Running his hoof through is mane again, he clears his throat. "Of course, take all the time you need to prepare. It is to be expected, as I have dropped this on you rather last minute. It would be rude not to give you time to prepare, not to mention dangerous. Just promise me that you'll keep a good eye on Red and we have a deal." His hoof shoots out, taking Livewires into a hoofshake.
Red watches, trembling as the two make their deal. She's seen what the beast is capable of and she is severely doubting the lab's containment capabilities. She knows that he is not himself while under its influence and will destroy most anything in a blind rage and feral hunger. This being said, the last thing she wants to do is anger Master Flask. Though obviously panicking, she keeps her mouth shut.
"Now, upon beginning, I have a list of tests I would like done. These, however, are rather mundane. Basics like change in heartrate, brainwaves, red blood cell count. Things of that matter. I wish to learn truly how draconic the transformation actually is, and what part of it is merely superficial. With faurther research I may even figure out if I can breathe fire! Can you imagine?!" He exclaims, stepping back up to Livewire. "A pony turned into the most powerful predator known to equestria, while still remaining themselves! THINK! THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES!"
He breaks away, laughing to himself as he begins to pace. "With enough research and advancement, perhaps we could even give the draconic wings, or perhaps some other wings. But why stop there! We could harness the power of an ursa! Neigh, AN ALICORN!" he yells loudly, his excitement getting the better of him as he drops into rambling. His breath has shifted into a quickened hyperventilating, his mane splayed out across his face. His glasses lay slightly askew as he stares at Livewire intently.

Livewire simply continued to grin and nod as Flask went on his rant, after giving him a small list of experiments to run while he was in this new, draconic form. OL0-DN3 may have not had the full capability to hold such a beast, but as long as he added a few new adjustments, it would...do, for now. He'd likely need to completely refurnish the lab after this encounter, and would also need to move any and all rare subjects and ingredients that he had stored down there. Losing DME-34 again wouldn't be good. That strain was all but wiped out, after he'd cured the incident of...well, he didn't like talking about that time. The overly forward unicorn would've been met with a scalpel to his throat if he'd been anypony else, for starting at Livewire like that. Flask was lucky that Livewire enjoyed his company. "Yes, the possibility of gaining such power through genetic modification is...an interesting theory. A very exciting one, in fact."
He gave a small bow to Flask. "Feel free to stay up here in my room with Cross until I return. If you need anything, or wish to read some of my notes, Cross will be happy to help you.
=============================================================
A little over two hours later, Livewire returned to his room. He'd changed out of his normal black cloak into a far tighter white medical suit. He didn't want the draconian beast having any loose fabric to grab at, in the event that he broke loose from the restraints and paralysis. That would only set to complicate things further. "OL0-DN3 is now properly prepared. If you'd all like to follow me down to the sub-basement, we can begin the procedure." He waved the other three along, and led them down to the basement. "Usually, this is where anypony else would be ending their journey. Not so for us." With a few tracings of his hoof along a nearby stone wall, several magical runes lit themselves up, revealing a passageway that led further down. Livewire ushered them all down, and sealed the way behind them. He didn't want Flask getting out and wrecking the Manor in the event that things went...downhill.
The operating lab was quite a ways further underground, almost leading one to wonder how exactly it was kept filled with oxygen, when seemingly sealed off from the rest of the world. The area itself was quite large, a simple circle of machines, mostly surrounding a large operating table in the middle of the room. Outside of that, there were a few more machines for feeding results to, which he motioned Cross and Shift to go stand by. "You two will remain...as safe as I can promise, over in that area. Actinician, if you'll continue following me?"
The two doctors made their way to the middle of the machines, and directly next to the operating table. Once they were in place, Livewire etched a hoof around on the ground a bit, activating runes that erected a dome-shaped, ethereal barrier around the center of the room, separating them from the fillies. "Incredibly useful things, runes are. From starting small fires, to keeping those two over there safe from you in the event that you break from my bindings." Livewire busied himself over by a nearby table, ensuring that all of his medical implements were properly prepared. "So, are you ready to begin?"

Waiting the couple of hours that it had taken Livewire to prepare, Flask had completely regained his composure. His warm grin once more plastered on his face as if he were some form of unchanging sculpture, lacking any real feeling or soul. This was it. A chance that he hadn't had before. To finally gather information on the dracobeast that he himself becomes. Up to this point he hadn't actually known much about it, save for the destruction he left in his wake, and he was excited to find out more. Before, he hadn't had anyone else, his research in his genotech being wholly shot down as quackery in the scientific field. Toiling away in the laboratory, completely alone until just two years ago, upon his creation of Red.
His eyes closed, he continues to think to himself, recalling the many fond memories of the past couple of years with Red Shift and the exciting two times he had met with Livewire. The doctor and himself shared so many ideas and ideals, but it was the difference that flask found even more interesting. Livewire told him, himself, that he always preferred taking things away as opposed to adding them. This didn't really make sense to Flask. Wasn't the point in science advancement and perfection? How can you perfect without making improvements? It was a conundrum Flask didn't foresee himself solving anytime soon. Perhaps ask Livewire about it in the future...
Red quietly sets next to Flask, staring sullenly at almost the same point in the floor that Flask is, lost in a trance of her own. Is he really going to go through with this? Does he not care for the dangers? This is Master Flask, but still. He had to have noticed the damage his last rampage caused and the fear she felt...She understood his desire for learning and perfection, but to what lengths was he willing to go? She closes her eyes, taking in a deep breath. It didn't matter. Wherever he went, she would follow. She cared too much for him to abandon him, especially upon putting himself in danger. Half an hour in, she leans into him, resting her head on his shoulder. Flask smiles, putting his arm around her and pulling her close to him.
"Do not worry, dear Red Shift. All will be well. One day I may even be able to control it directly. That was it's purpose to begin with. Do you remember? We need not be afraid again, my Red Shift. With that kind of power in our grasp...Nobody could harm us ever again." He whispers lovingly into her ear, his cold smile melting and his eyes lingering on the cloaked mare. Red doesn't respond for a moment before giving a curt nod. She nuzzles into his chest as he holds her and he lays his head on hers and closes his eyes, awaiting Livewire's return. ________________________________2 Hours Later___________________________________ Flask and Red quietly wait for Livewire's return, not another word being exchanged. As they hear a click at the door, both of their heads snap toward the noise, catching livewire in his tighter outfit. Flask removes his hoof from Red as she reluctantly separates from his chest, standing to her hooves and stretching. Flask gives Livewire an impressed smirk, his eyes looking at the outfit. "I'm impressed, Doctor. I hadn't even given you any safety briefings on what you'll be dealing with yet, and you've already cleared up one problem. I knew you were the right one to come to about this." Truth be told, Livewire was the only one Flask could come to about this, however his own pride would never allow him to admit that.
He chuckles, bringing himself to his hooves. "Well, that wait was quite relaxing." He adds. "Between my research and what little rest I manage to get, I don't often find myself to my thoughts. An interesting change of pace indeed." He nods as Livewire gestures to follow, both him and Red closely taking off after the doctor. As he follows, he fails to stifle a chuckle upon Livewire's remark of most ponies ending their journeys here.
Red and Flask both watch in awe, the former more so, as the runes light up to reveal a passageway. "I have to learn some of this runic magic at some point..." Flask can't help mumbling as his hoofsteps clop in time with Red's. "It seemed so mundane to me, I never really bothered before..." he trails off as the quartet continue down farther.
He and Red, at this point, were both beginning to wonder just how deep into the earth this laboratory actually was and how it managed to be dug out in the first place, let alone how the place remained livable. Perhaps there were runes for that as well? His own state in biology while working in a single laboratory int he basement of his home was beginning to feel inferior to what Livewire had accomplished. He couldn't help but feel a pang of envy.
Finally relieved to come into the medical lab itself, Flask once again found that sense of envy bubbling up. Taking a few glances around, his eyes linger on the machinery throughout the laboratory as Red follows him by his side. His eyes finally falling on the operating table, he smiles, fidgeting excitedly.
Flask and Red both glance back to Livewire as he begins to speak, telling Red to go with Cross. Red waits for a moment, scraping at the floor with her hoof nervously before Flask looks to her and smiles gently. "It's okay, Red. Trust me. Everything will go according to procedure, I can feel it." Red looks up at Flask, furrowing her brow. For a moment she looks like a scared rabbit, ready to flee from an oncoming fox. She gulps, nodding before throwing her hooves around Flask. Flask, closing his eyes and smiling, embraces her as well. After several seconds, Red breaks away and trots up to Cross, waiting by her side.
Flask looks back to Livewire, nodding as he follows him to the operating table. Flask watches in awe as more runes activate, creating a dome barrier around them, protecting those outside from what Flask is to become. Flask chuckles as Livewire begins to speak of the usefulness of runes. "Quite, it would seem. I would really like to learn some of that some day." He tells him with a grin.
Having never been very good at magic, he had never been capable of doing much outside of precise telekinesis. These runes might give him some other means of using magic that he hoped would make up for his lack of innate ability. His thoughts sour at thinking of his brutal imperfection. A unicorn that can barely use magic...Pathetic...One day, he tells himself, he will become even more powerful, magic or no. Despite his bitter thoughts, his statuesque smile remains on his face as Livewire checks the medical equipment. He nods. "I've been ready since I walked through the door of this complex, Doctor."
