Livewire simply gave a nod back. "Excellent. I'm a bit anxious to get this little procedure underway. Before we being though, the machines are going to have to warm up a bit. If there's anything helpful you can tell me about what I'll be doing here, and what do expect, that would be appreciated." He'd be a fool of a doctor if he didn't ask his patient about such things beforehoof. He motioned for Flask to take off his lab-coat and glasses, and put them on a large side-tray he'd prepared for the occasion.

He gave another look over to Cross and Red, making sure that his and Flask's lab assistants were still doing alright. Outside the dome bubble at a distance, they seemed to still be doing fine. Livewire turned back to one of his machines, and fidgeted with it a bit. If too many of these machines went down during the procedure, all of his test results would be for nothing. The science for this kind of thing had to exact, or not exist at all. He'd seen for himself what imperfect results got the Earth pony in Ghastly Gorge.

Cross looked toward the newly erected shield dome, cutting the two fillies off from the doctors, with a worried look. She'd never seen Doctor Therapy do any kind of procedure outside of removal of diseased tissue and organs, and standard healing of the cuts and lacerations that Mr. Stronghoof usually came in with. The blue unicorn looked over toward Red. "S-so, how long have you been helping Doctor Flask for? I know he said that you're his daughter, but how young were you when you actually starting helping him?"

"Of course." Flask replies with a nod."I had planned on giving you several details beforehand anyway." He reaches into his labcoat and removes the syringe with the blackened ichor within and lays it gently on the surgical table. Sliding off his glasses, he places them within a front pocket in his labcoat. Without his glasses, the dark, puffy circles beneath his eyes are much more evident, showing his fatigue. "To tell you the truth, I'm not entirely sure myself. All I have to go on is what happens and what I feel during the transformation process itself and what Red has told me, as well as the results afterword."

With a chuckle he slides off his labcoat, folding it neatly and placing it next to the syringe. "Now, the procedures I wish for you to preform are extremely basic, some of which I know a doctor of your caliber should have no difficulty with. I, however, will get to those in a moment. First off, I'll begin with a few details I DO know, as described to me by Red, so you will know what to expect."

He trails off for a moment, gathering his thoughts as he begins to pace in front of the table. "There is a size differentiation with a ratio of 2/1, the transformation and myself respectively, as well as an increase in muscle mass. This is, of course, to be expected when introducing draconic genes into the system. The transformation, or at least what I am conscious for, I believe to last roughly forty five seconds to one full minute, something which I wish to accelerate at a future date. Can't have myself vulnerable for that valuable 60 seconds, now can I?" he asks with a laugh as he glances back to Livewire, turning and walking in the other direction. Clearing his throat, he looks forward once more and continues.

"Now, with the amount of damage I have witnessed, as well as simply using common sense, I can safely say there is an increase in potential physical strength as well. I believe this to be an increase by up to three or four times that of the average pony, but I am not certain. It could be greater. Now, I have to warn you." he looks straight to Livewire, halting his pacing for a moment as he dons a more serious continuance. "Once I have changed, I will no longer be myself. After the transformation I black out, as if I were sleeping, while the beast takes over." Flask continues his pacing, looking back to the ground.

"This is something I wish to remedy and I would like to find why this is. I do not, however, expect you to be able to gather that information at this time. Unfortunately, this leads to more primal instincts taking over, the most predominate of which seems to be hunger. I can say this with confidence, as during the transformation I find myself feeling almost emaciated, as if I haven't eaten in some time, almost as if my body is about to devour itself." He sighs, shaking his head. "It is unfortunate really. It seems meat would be what I crave. I would think gems would make a proper substitute, as it is draconic in origin, but perhaps that is due to reptilian genes not reacting properly with mammalia. Though I don't exactly have much to go on in the way of general biology, I can make a few inferences." He stops, tapping his hoof to his chin a few times as he thinks for anything he may have missed.

"Ah! Duration!" He exclaims, holding out his hoof in realization. He places his hoof back onto the gorund in front of him, turning to Livewire. "Now, I can't be entirely positive, but I have pinpointed the duration of the serum to be anywhere between two and three hours. I know the uncertainty for this calculation is quite overwhelming, but I have little way to properly monitor it...Begrudgingly to admit, my own laboratory is not as...'well equipped' as your own." He says with a hint of jealousy in his voice. "Attempting to restrain and monitor myself would simply leave me homeless and labless."

"Now, I believe that is the extent of information I have on the subject itself, on to safety precautions. You have already adhered to a major one. It would seem I gain claws of some kind, so wearing lose fitting clothing is generally ill advised as it simply makes for something to easily grab on to. Now, I suggest if at all possible that you monitor everything from afar. I'm not really sure how the creature reacts to sedatives, so I suggest taking the time the transformation takes to get outside with Red and your own assistant. If this is not possible, then I am not really sure how to handle it...Just hope the sedatives work?" Flask chuckles to himself as if he had just made a joke.

"Now, I have not seen scorch marks prior, but there is always a possibility when dealing with dragons that you have to worry about fire. I don't believe that it should be a problem, but just in case I trust the area is flame resistant? Having an underground laboratory, I should hope so...Otherwise that would make quite the fire hazard, even when NOT dealing with fire breathing reptiles."

"Another concern is a dragon's innate resistance to magic. Due to the dilution of draconic genes, the subject may not exhibit the full degree of magical resistance, however it would be wise to treat it as if it did." Flask has at this point, stopped pacing in front of the table, instead looking straight at Livewire. "Unfortunately that's all I can give you as far as safety concerns go. Now, on to what I want monitored!" he exclaims, resuming his pacing.

"Well, first off I wish to find basic orthostatic vitals. Heart rate, respiration and if you can, blood pressure would all be helpful information in determining how much actually changes after the transformation. As I told you earlier, I wish to find if the change is purely superficial...By which I mean external changes, of which, for reasons of my own, I am including the gain in muscle mass, or if there are any vital internal transformations as well. If you can manage to sedate me, as long as you are confident in keeping me alive, I would like you to take a look inside of me as well, taking a look at my internal organs. Though, if it is at all an option, an MRI would probably be significantly less dangerous. I'm not really sure how you would go about it, but testing reflexes would also be ideal." He trails off, thinking for a moment as he continues to list off things he would like tested.

"Taking specific weight and height would also be ideal, though I am not sure at this point weather I should use a reptilian or mammalia standard for determining the body mass index, I intend to find the calculation for both." He runs his hoof through his black mane, looking to the ceiling as he hums in thought.

"If you can, I would like you to take photographs of me in the form, as well as jot down any changes in physical qualities you find profound. This is not to say the entire transformation will not be profound, of course. I am simply speaking of details that stand out most. General measurements would also be ideal, such as length of teeth, claws and, if applicable, tail. I need you to test magical resistance as well. As I said earlier, and as you know, dragons have a born resistance to magic. I would like to learn the extent the subject exhibits such resistances. Finally, I want you to draw a pint of blood while I am in the state. I plan on making a direct comparison between the transformed and untransformed samples."

He laughs loudly, rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment. "I said there would only be a few things, and here I am talking you into oblivion. I apologize for the bit of misinformation earlier about how much I would actually like done..." He claps his hooves together, looking at Livewire expectantly. "So! Any questions?"

Red watches as Flask and Livwire make their way over to the table, standing beside Cross. Lightly trembling, her anxiousness is obvious. A worried look plays across her face as she watches Livewire trigger some runes. She can't help but jump back as said runes trigger a dome force field between the two parties. 'I really hope that's strong enough to hold him...' she thinks to herself, scraping the ground with her hoof as she zones out, watching Flask begin explaining everything to Livewire, wondering just what is being said within.

She is torn rather forcefully from her revery as Cross speaks up, seeming to attempt to make casual conversation. How long had she been with Master Flask?...Two and a half years years. Had it really only been just over two years? It feels like so much longer. Though, it would make a lot of sense that it would feel so long, as she could not recall a life before Flask. She sighs, shaking her head. She really hates that habit Flask has of introducing her as his daughter...Sure it was the most believeable situation while still keeping their actual relationship confidential, but it seems like he would feel they were closer...

She politely smiles up at Cross, thinking for a moment about what to say before deciding on a rather short response. "I've been with Master Flask for about two years. Just a bit over two and a half, actually." she replies, looking back to Flask speaking with Livewire. He always had a habit of rambling. She wondered how much of what he was saying was actually relevant to the tests.

She giggles, scuffing the floor with her hoof as she thinks back to when Flask was still teaching her everything she needed to know, from language to how to act in a laboratory. Truly she was only almost three years old, though she knew she appeared in her early to mid teens. Not wanting to seem rude, she decides to return the question. "Why? How long have you known your master for?" She asks, tilting her head to the side as she looks back up to Cross curiously, raising her eyebrow as her sapphire eyes shine out from beneath the hood of her cloak. She hadn't thought she would be, but she was genuinely curious. She didn't really know much about life outside of flask's laboratory and was quite interested to find out more.

"Right then, right then." Livewire began taking in all the information that Flask was telling him, and prepared several medical implements accordingly as he continued to listen. Simple things such as basic orthostatic vitals, heart rate, respiration, and blood pressure would be easy enough for his machines to read. The one thing that troubled him a bit was the mention of the beasts appetite. Had he been at Trinity's cave in Ghastly Gorge, there would've been plenty of meat and gemstones right nearby, but he was under a mansion, in a building that had, until recently, had only had herbivore residents. He had a few gems lying around, and hoped that those would do. If not...well, then the beast was going to be a bit harder to distract.

His scalpels were sharpened to cut through Stronghoof's flesh with ease, and, while he hadn't tested them on dragon scales yet, he had faith that it would be possible to have a bit of invasive surgery with a bit of finesse. Pictures were also no problem, and once he managed to breach the surface, his spells and assorted elixirs for subduing targets would work effectively enough. Dragons were usually only resistant to magic on the outside. This wasn't quite going to be a dragon though, was it?

The two to three hour time limit on the serum though. There had to have been some way to burn through that faster. Subduing this kind of beast for an hour with his magic and medicines would be easy enough, but longer than that...he'd find a way. Once he had the rest of his machines and assorted scales prepared for the procedure, he motioned to the table for Flask to lie down. "No, I believe your explanations and requests have been made fairly clear, Actinician. Don't worry about the misinformation. Doctors such as ourselves often must bend a few rules and social norms to reach where we are. A few lies are nothing new to myself. Now, if you'll lie down, I'll strap you in, and we can begin this little experiment. Just know that I reserve the right to attempt to kill you if you happen to break free, and injure my apprentice." He pointed a hoof through the dome back at Cross and Red. "I've put a bit too much time into her to start over on somepony new."

Cross gazed back at the large shield dome as the two stallions kept talking....and talking....and...talking. She didn't know what they were saying, but it was probably important to whatever the procedure was going to entail. Doctor Therapy hadn't exactly had a lot of time to work with when the gray unicorn showed up at their door a few hours ago, but this place looked a great deal more secure than it had.

The filly turned back to Red as she answered. Two and a half years? She easily had a great deal more experience in these sorts of things than Cross herself did, but still, Red was looking nervous about the whole thing. That, in turn, made the blue unicorn a bit more unsettled about the whole thing. She decided not to dwell on why Red referred to Doctor Flask as 'master', instead of 'father'.

"D-doctor Therapy rescued me from a Diamond Dog named Trinity, a-after she found me crawling through some rubble in New Saddle, my...old home..." She hadn't thought about New Saddle in a few weeks, not wanting to bring back the memories of the initial Diamond Dog invasion. The screams of those being raped and killed, sometimes not in that order, still rung in her ears from time to time. "I've been his apprentice for just over three months now. It hasn't b-been very long, but he's been very kind to me, and helped me learn a lot about medicine. I h-haven't really done anything in the field, but usually just stay back and read his notes, or watch him during experiments. W-what kinds of things do you do for Doctor Flask?"

Flask nods once as Livewire warns him that he will not hesitate to kill him. He looks at him evenly, remaining calm. "If I did not trust you to be capable of knowing your limits, I never would have came to you, doctor. I would be a fool to knowingly put a colleague, or worse, Red, in danger. I understand fully, and accept, that if you are to lose control of the beast that you will do whatever it takes to...Ahem...'correct' the situation. I am willing to take that risk."

He sighs, shaking his head. "And it isn't just your assistant out there either. It's Red. I know you've invested your time in this new assistant of yours and I'm not really sure how far your relationship extends, but Red..." Flask falls quiet for a moment, studying Livewire. He doesn't really feel he should trust the pony entirely, but for some reason once he began to speak he found himself incapable of stopping. "She's...more than an assistant to me."

"It's unprofessional and, if I might say, a bit odd, but..." He shakes his head swiftly, as if shaking from a stupor. "No matter. This is not the time for sentimentality." He says to Livewire with a laugh. "The point is, it isn't lost on me that there's a lot at risk here. I understand fully the potential outcome." He gazes over the medical equipment, taking a deep breath through his nose.

He had given Livewire instruction and precautions that should be taken. Knowing that it was last minute, a sliver of doubt rested in the back of his mind on if this was going to be as easy as he imagined. The creature's hunger was insatiable and he didn't know its full capabilities. Right now he was working with something he didn't quite entirely know, and that came with risks of its own. That, combined with the severity of what he did know, didn't fill him with confidence. He glances out, watching Red and Cross speak. He smiled softly, afraid that something might happen to her.

Quickly putting that thought to rest, he looks back up at Livewire, a small smile on his face. Livewire would be able to handle it. He was his best bet, and the potential outweighed the risks. "Now, if you have no further questions then I feel I have given you adequate instruction. You may administer the serum at any time once I am properly restrained. Perhaps when this is all over and I have glanced over the notes, we can have a nice chat over tea."

Red watches Flask as he and Livewire continue to speak. She wasn't quite used to it taking so long to begin one of his experiments...Usually he just has her take a short log before beginning, but here it was almost as if Flask was laying out every little detail for Livewire. She watches as Flasks face shifts to one of unease. Biting her lower lip, she continues to shift on her hooves. If Master Flask believed it safe, then she would trust him...She just had to keep telling herself that and maybe she wouldn't be so afraid. Upon seeing him smile at her, she smiles back at him. Talking with this new pony helped put her at ease as well. It wasn't often she socialized with others besides the Master.

Without looking up at her, she responds. "Just basic things. Outside of the lab, I keep our home nice and tidy. Clean. Do a little bit of cooking. Wash Master Flask's coats and what. In the laboratory I usually help prepare the specimen. Clean them up, restrain them if the case requires it. Fetch the needed equipment. Take his logs before each experiment and keep his logs and notes organized. You'd think he'd be a bit more tidy, but sometimes he just leaves his notes sprawled across his desk." she says with a smile. Beginning to feel a bit more at ease as she speaks about her duties, she slowly stopped shaking. Thinking back on all of the things she's helped him with, she really has nothing to fear. They've done hundreds of experiments and when they went awry, Master Flask knew exactly what to do. There wasn't any need to worry.

"It's as if Master flask always knows what to do." She says with a small giggle. "I remember this one time he was working on what he calls his 'genotech blade'. It was in earlier prototype stages. Not nearly as developed as it is now. The thing actually began moving on its own, as if it had attained some kind of false arcane life or something. Like a little slug, slithering about." She snorts. "Master flask was prepared for it ahead of time and had a small fail safe. I'm not really sure of the details, but it had something to do with the dispersal patterns in the molecules of a solid and how the structure of the thing was unstable...Anyway, the thing fell apart into a puddle of liquid. He disposed of it abruptly, disappointed that he wasn't quite able to control it yet. Of course I got to straighten the place up after that. It knocked over a bunch of flasks, test tubes and even almost took out our centrifuge." Red was trying to keep from breaking into a fit of giggles, as if this was the funniest thing she had heard in some time.

"Anyway, yeah. Just basic things like keeping things clean, preparing the specimen for experimentation and keeping notes and logs."
