'Outside of cutting up the bodies of my failed patients? Well, there've been a few things throughout the years.' "Well, I did attempt to sew Stronghoof a nice little cloak like mine a few years back for Hearth's Warming. I don't think he likes it though, because he never wears it..." The fact did dishearten Livewire a bit. It wasn't every day that he went out of his way to make a gift for somepony else, only to have them all but reject it.
"Outside of that, I've taken up socially drinking lately. I don't know if one would call that a hobby though..."

"It can be, depending on how often and how much you indulge. I'm quite fond of wines myself and consider myself a social drinker in that respect." Arpeggio smiled a bit. "I've never tried sewing, but it seems interesting. I'm a musician so that takes up most of my hobbies."
Arpi smiled a little further. "If I may ask, what kinds of wines do you have? If it's not too much trouble, anyway..."

Ah, yes. Livewire had gotten flat out wasted the last few times he'd gone out. Tolerance wasn't something he'd quite gained from his alcoholic experimentations yet. He wasn't entirely used to the idea of using his own body for results, as it was. All he knew was that seeing colors that had no place existing on his plane of existence was kind of neat.
"Oh, Sir Seraph always keeps all kinds of wines stocked down in the ce-..." He stopped himself for a moment. His project that had recently been completed down in the cellar was still a secret to all. He didn't want anypony stumbling past the wine cellar and into it. That would be...problematic. "Kitchen. There's plenty of wines that could suit any palette within the kitchen. Domestic wines, imported wines, even some homebrewed wines, if you'd believe such a thing."

...Well. That was unusual... but whatever. Arpeggio didn't really feel like prying. "Homebrewed wines, mm? Interesting. I've never had a home-brewed wine. I'm curious as to what you have in a blush, though. I'm quite fond of blush wines. Would that be alright, Doctor?"
He did seem quite interesting...

"Our landlord has little to do with his time outside of pursuing alcohol, and doing construction on the Manor. As he has more than enough money to go around, I suppose making his own wine seemed a good an idea as any." Livewire trotted back to the kitchen, pleased to see that the imaginary colors that he loved so much had already started manifesting. Ah, how fun.
Within a few minutes of rummaging around, he managed to find something that fit the bill. He picked up the bottle of wine with a bit of a pink tinge...well, at least he thought it was pink. It honestly could've been green. The doctor's sonar-based sight couldn't really differentiate colors, outside of the new ones that alcohol brought him. Everything else was usually bathed in a blue light.
The hybrid walked back out with a wine glass, and the bottle for Arpeggio. Given the cabinet he'd found it in, there was little doubt that it was a blush wine. "Here you are, Sir Arpeggio, one bottle of Hexawing's Delight. Sir Seraph seemed awfully proud of this one last year, but I don't generally drink wine, so that'd be up to you to decide if he was right." With a quick pouring into the glass for the pegasus, Livewire retook his seat, and started sipping at his gin again.

Arpeggio inhaled a little of the scent, then took a slow sip of the wine, swishing a little of the drink in his mouth. His eyes widened. "...Honey... Caramel and butterscotch... chocolate and vanilla... good heavens. This is amazing."
He'd honestly never tasted a wine that sweet or that flavorful in his life. "...Absolutely amazing. I have never had a wine that tasted like this... I have to wonder how sir Seraph made this... I've had Prench wines from the heart of wine country that weren't this good."

Livewire smiled at Arpeggio's words. He knew that Seraph had quite an eye, and he supposed, a taste for fine alcohols. It wasn't at all surprising to him that his landlord has created such a wonderful bottle of liquid colors. He was tempted to try some, but didn't want to ruin the taste of gin.
"I'm glad to hear that. Feel free to take the bottle home with you. We've still got dozens of bottles of that downstairs, in addition to what we have in the kitchen. Sir Seraph is a very generous pony. I'm sure he won't mind. As for how he made it, I'd tell you to ask him, but he's been...busy, for quite sometime now."
Seraph was another topic altogether though. "So, you and Stronghoof. How's that been working out with you so far?"

Arpi took a hearty drink of the wine. "Mmnnn... If I were forced to only be able to drink one wine for the rest of my life, this would be it. I'll gladly accept your offer, Doctor. You really must try some of this; it's delicious~"
The brown pegasus was just a little more flushed in the cheeks, though still quite lucid, and he chuckled slightly. "He and I... well, I'm not really sure what we are, really. I like him. Quite a bit. He's handsome and kind and I could ramble on about him for hours if you gave me half a chance... I just hope his friend... Shenks or something like that. Hope she's doing alright."

Livewire almost considered taking the pegasus up on the offer, before realizing that getting dead drunk within his own home, while around someone he still considered a stranger could be an issue. It wasn't though he could just drag the body into a back alley somewhere. There'd be bloodstains all over the carpet, and that would just be tedious to clean up. He politely declined the offer of wine.
"Ah, so you like him then, hm? Dashenka and he have been doing quite well lately, actually. That morning he came galloping back from his little adventure with you, I hear that Dashenka confessed to him. No need to lose hope on such a thing though. Stronghoof's a fairly generous pony. If Dashenka consents, I bet he'd be willing to give you some loving too." Well, this wasn't like him to say such things. Alcohol was a funny thing. Ah, there was tsikor, his favorite imaginary color. He waved to it, undoubtedly making him look like a madpony to anyone outside his own mind.

Arpeggio tilted his head, frowning slightly, a little sadly. "I see. Well, then it's all the more important that I talk to him. Is it alright if I wait around or do you not think he'll be arriving until later?" He really didn't care about the wave; figured he didn't have much alcohol tolerance. "And yeah; I need to talk to him about this. I like him a lot... I just hope this doesn't result in me getting a griffon wanting to cut me open."

"Feel free to wait around as long as you like. As long as you know someone in the Manor, there's no real set time limit on coming and going as you please within here, as long as someone lets you in. If you don't mind, I can continue to keep you company until that silly Earth pony shows back up." Livewire put away his gin, and pulled out a flask of water, starting to drink from that. Within a short while, he waved goodbye to tsikor as the wondrous color faded from his sight again.
"As for Stronghoof, if you'd like, you can discuss a bit about how you feel about him with me. Surgery may be my specialty, but I'm no stranger to psychology of the mind. I'll see if I can't help you out a bit."

"Well, thank you." Arpeggio smiled at the doctor with a warm expression, quite grateful. "I appreciate it; you've been quite wonderful company, Doctor." The pegasus took another drink of the wine, savoring the sweet rich flavor.
"Well... about Stronghoof... I'm not even fully sure how exactly I feel. He's a sweet and caring pony... y'know, one of those who cares for pretty much everyone but themselves. I just wanna help him out; repay his kindnesses. I... I kinda remember him saying something about his family during that time we spent at that bar..."

Livewire raised his flask to the pegasus. "Thank you as well. Cutting through the monotony of the days can be tough without company to spend it with. I'm quite grateful you came along today." With tsikor gone, it seemed as though this Arpeggio was all he had at the moment. It wasn't a terrible tradeoff. Tsikor could be a bit...moody, sometimes.
He listened intently to Arpeggio's talking about Stronghoof. The thing about Stronghoof caring more about others than himself was incredibly true, as Livewire knew from years of working with him. After surgery's the Earth pony would go on to tell him tales about how he may have been injured, but at least the townponies were safe. Quite selfless, that one. "Trottingham, yes. Nasty business over there, from what I hear. Slavery, underground gladiator pits. I don't wish that kind of life on anypony." He took another long drink from his flask, which seemed to have quite a bit more water in it than one would've expected. "He's been saying for years that he'd like to go back and get his family out, but the time's not right, or something of the sort. I give him my blessing, and a doctor to fall back to if he ever decides to go through with it and comes back alive."

"It's no trouble, really. I enjoy meeting new ponies." The pegasus smiled a bit.
Then, the doctor went into his explanation. Arpeggio's expression hardened slightly. "...So that's what's going on, mm? I wonder... if it'd be more 'the right time' with some more muscle backing him up. Those two things you mentioned have been outlawed in Equestria for years, if my knowledge of history is correct; it seems to me that someone needs to feel consequences for their actions."
The pegasus' mind began working the cogs, as it were. Arpeggio began thinking of various possibilities; last he knew, Trottingham had been taken by the Griffons... if that were the case then it would likely be more easy to slip into the gladiator underground and free Stronghoof's family... Arpeggio wanted to help. If it would make Stronghoof happy, the big pegasus wanted it to happen.

Well, murder and experimenting on conscious, unwilling patients isn't looked highly upon in Equestria either, but that doesn't stop me from doing it. Livewire thought on the pegasus's words. From the sounds of things, he wanted to help Stronghoof take back his family, likely by force, if current events were true to his ears. "Well, you do know that Trottingham was recently taken by gryphons, yes? I don't think they'd be so willing to let such captives go. Then again, what do I know of gryphon culture, hm?"
True enough, he knew little of gryphons outside of their biology, something he had a great deal of knowledge in. It would be...nice, to have a few more gryphon patients though. The only one around that he knew of was currently involved with Stronghoof, and lived in the Manor. Her disappearance would probably raise a few red flags. "If you do plan to go in there, be careful, will you? As much as I pride myself in my medical work, I still always hope that it's unnecessary at the end of the day. If ponies can avoid injury, I'd prefer it stay that way."
