A Case of Unforeseen Encounters; Arpi/Therapy

It was a very good thing Arpeggio couldn't read minds, else he already would've been beating the 'good Doctor' bloody with his bare hooves. After all, the pegasus had his values and hearing that would've not sit well with him.

"If these gladiator pits were as underground as you made them sound, it may be that the Griffons haven't really rooted them out yet. If that's the case, then it should be simple to get in there, with stealth, hopefully, and free them. Of course. Don't you worry about it, Doc. I can definitely take a hit, but I don't really enjoy getting bloodied, either. You kind of need to learn to dodge and block when you're a boxer." He grinned slightly. "I'll definitely have to speak with Stronghoof then, when he gets back. Until then, however, I think I'll enjoy another glass of this wonderful wine." The pegasus filled his glass one more time and took a nice slow sip.

Well, that was true that gryphons were predators of the air and ground. He guessed that it was possible that they hadn't found the ponies underground yet. They'd probably be starved out within a few weeks, regardless, and be forced to surface. If Stronghoof was going to go in and get his family, he'd need to do so soon. "You may be right, Sir Arpeggio. Still, my offer stands if you decide to go, and get yourself injured by some cruel twist of fate. As you're a friend of Stronghoof's, I'll be glad to work on you, free of charge." Livewire didn't need a lot of bits as it were. He had enough stockpiled up to pay his rent for the next few months, and if he really needed anything extra, he'd just go find some more patients out of town.

Arpeggio stood up and bowed slightly. "Thank you kindly, Doctor. Goodness willing, though, that won't be necessary. It may have been a while but my fighting skills are not rusty, should stealth fail us and we be forced to fight our way out." He sat back down, feeling just a little anxious now. "I do hope he gets back soon, though. We'd probably need to leave soon to go free his family if we were to do so." The pegasus took another sip of his wine, beginning to glance about the Mansion's interior.

The current room they were in was as fine a room as one was bound to see around Ponyville, the ceiling reaching up to second story and beyond, into a skylight, letting the afternoon sun bathe the entire area inside within it's light. In the event of nighttime, which of course came every dozen hours or so, the magical lights within automatically turned on, effectively keeping the area lit at all times. Livewire gazed up at the skylight, thankful that his sunglasses actually looked as though they belonged in such a place. "Well, it's not as though a few minutes are going to make that much of a difference, Sir Arpeggio. Try not to let it worry you, and just enjoy the day as it is."

It was kind of nice of Arpeggio to be so willing to go on what could very well turn out to be a suicide mission with a pony he'd only just met. Then again, Stronghoof did have that charismatic way, didn't he? Livewire wouldn't have believed in a thousand years that somepony could actually convince a gryphon, new to Ponyville, to live there, right in the midst of a war with their race. The Earth pony's ways were interesting, and always provided a compelling study on his social ways.

Arpeggio sighed lightly. "You're right... you're right. I'm just... new to this whole search-and-rescue thing." He exhaled slowly, closing his eyes to calm himself... and poured another glass of the wine. If nothing else, that would surely calm him down.

He took another sip of the wine, sighing again, this time in a more relaxed manner. He glanced over at the hybrid. "Mmm... I must admit, I like your sunglasses. They're quite stylish." He chuckled lightly. "Very striking against your coat... um... those stripes... are you a..." He honestly wasn't sure what the Doctor was. The pegasus had never met a hybrid before.

"I'm not a big fan of search and rescue operations myself. I've no problem with rescuing, but I haven't the time to go around searching for those in need. If they require my help, they will either send for me, or come to see me in person." Of course, he'd gladly go hunt and retrieve test subjects. In a way, they were being rescued from their dull and homeless lives. He didn't ask for any thanks in solving part of the homeless problems in Canterlot and Fillydelphia. He was a servant of the people, after all.

Livewire turned his head slightly, hiding a bit of a blush. Ponies didn't usually compliment his sunglasses. They usually just questioned why he wore them, and then he'd have to go into the whole story of how he was blind. It got rather old. "Yes, thank you, Sir Arpeggio. I find them very stylish as well. Not many ponies think so. As for my stripes-." He held up one of his legs to the light, looking at them. All he saw was a leg. His ability to see different colors was long ago. The stripes he'd once enjoyed looking at so much were beyond his sight. "I believe the politically correct term for what I am is Zebracorn. I'm a hybrid between a zebra, and a unicorn. I'm from Zebrica, originally."

Huh. Well, that was interesting. "Is that so? I had no idea that that was even possible." He chuckled softly. "Of course, I grew up in Cloudsdale so I was hard-pressed to find anyone that wasn't a pegasus to talk to. Even in Manehattan, I never saw a hybrid... I've never been to Zebrica either. I have heard it's a beautiful country, though. Is that true?"

He set his wine glass down, looking at the doctor with an interested expression.

"Oh, it's entirely possible, I assure you." Though how exactly his mother, Goldenheart, had managed to...procreate, with his father, Zeo, a zebra of nearly buffalo size, he did not know. To be honest, he didn't want to know. With their size difference, it almost seemed silly. Such thoughts weren't for this kind of conversation though.

"Back in Zebrica, my entire village consisted of hybrids. Ponies and zebras, living in perfect peace. It was such a wondrous place for someone like me. The country itself is quite lovely, large spanning plains and savannas as far as the eye can see. All of the major villages followed and enforced the beliefs of one of the Gods or Goddesses that we worship down there. My village, Zeorium, held our dominion by the altar of Selecian, Goddess of Space. I moved away from there to pursue my medical knowledge across the lands, and eventually settled here a few years back."

Well, this was even more interesting. "I must admit that I don't know much about Zebrican culture. Can you tell me a bit about it, Doctor?"

Arpi's empty glass remained ignored as he gave the hybrid his full attention. "Your culture has... Gods and Goddesses?"

It was refreshing to meet a pony so interested in Zebrican culture. As Livewire had nothing better to do, it seemed as though he'd be giving a little explanation on their belief system. "That we do. Chronism consists of the worship of nine Zebrican Gods and Goddesses. We zebras worship a single all-God, Chronos, and eight lesser Gods, the Elder, and the Lesser. All Gods and Goddesses in our culture, the exception being Chronos, are chosen from mortal zebras to ascend to Godhood, and once there, live in cycles of 1600 years, four of the eight being replaced ever 800 years. Our Gods and Goddesses, as most of them accepted, are Gods in name only. Outside of Chronos, they're meant to be there as shining examples of the Virtue, or Dominion that they represent.

We have seven main Virtues that we follow. Diligence, Temperance, Charity, Humility, Chastity, Kindness, much like your Equestrian Element of Harmony, and my personal favorite Patience. In addition to those, we also pay respects to the flow of all things, through worship of Time and Space. If you'd like, I could go into further detail about all of the different Gods and Goddesses."

Arpi wished he'd had a notebook or something because this was interesting and quite important. As it was, he mentally jotted down notes on this information. "I see... please tell me a bit about these Gods and Goddesses." The pegasus nodded.

An interesting one, this Arpeggio was. He'd have to write in his notes to not kill this one later. Actually having somepony to talk to about his beliefs, that didn't immediately write it all off as ancient mysticism nonsense, was nice. "Well, let's start off with Pureza, Goddess of Chastity and Love. I hear that her artifact, the Purezapozana, is really quite popular here in in Equestria. It only grows in the-" With that, Livewire was cut off by the back door, leading from the courtyard, opening, Stronghoof entering through it. Judging by the large slash across his face, with blood leaking from it, he'd been out somewhere dangerous yet again. "Mhn. Seems we'll have to continue this conversation later. I've got some medicine to go prepare for our friend there."

Livewire got up from his chair and trotted up the stairs to his room, quickly entering it and shutting the door. He had a few things to tidy up and dispose of before Stronghoof got up there, in the likely event that he needed medical attention.

Stronghoof walked back into the Manor from memory mostly. He'd had his eyes closed since he'd left the ruins that he and South had been exploring. During the encounter, he'd managed to get rewarded with a rather nasty cut across his muzzle, right in his line of sight. In an attempt to not look at the blood, he'd run into quite a few trees and other assorted things on his way back. A less durable pony probably would've collapsed by now. He called out as he walked into the main living room.

"Anypony home? I'd see you with my own eyes, but that's not really in anypony's best interest right now."

Arpeggio smiled when he heard the voice coming in. "Ah! Hello there-" Then he saw the blood and the cut. "Sweet merciful Celestia, Stronghoof; what happened to you?!" Well, there was his miniature heart-attack of the day. He half-walked-half-ran, not even a little tipsy (good though the wine was, Arpi had been pacing himself and he was a big pony, after all), over to the earth pony, putting a hoof on his sturdy shoulder. "Are you alright? It's Arpi."

Oh, it seemed as though Arpeggio had come over to visit. That was silly of him to just sit there in the living room for Stronghoof. He would've been home a few hours earlier, but walking blind wasn't easy. He really had to give it to Doctor Therapy for doing it all the time. "Ah, hello Arp. Fancy meeting you here...I am in the Manor, right? I'm pretty sure I walked through the right door." It would be crazy if he'd managed to walk all the way to Ponyville Town Square and into Arpeggio's house without even hearing any other ponies. Stronghoof put a hoof back on Arp's...shoulder? Probably. He couldn't see.

"I guess you're referring to the blood? Just a few trapped blades in some ruins. It's really all pretty standard for me. How're you today?" The way he referred to the wound still leaking blood made it sound as though he'd done nothing more than hit his leg against a table. Such non-life threatening injury like this wasn't going to phase him at all.
