It was another wonderful day in Ponyville for heart. She had just finished operating on a patient on the outskirts of town. It took a couple of hours of cutting and moving but eventually she succeeded. The surgery turned out as a success, her patients heart was now completely without any holes. Heart felt good, better than usual, because she felt as if she had just helped somepony. She felt like she should reward herself today for her hard work. It was time to pay Livewire a visit.

She remembered how a couple of days ago she had met the blind hybrid in the everfree forest while picking heartbloom flowers. she had been slightly suspicious at first, especially considering how he could see right through her illusion, but eventually she warmed up to the pony. Heart also remembered how she offered to read her precious journal to him one day, something she didn’t do often.

She opened up her saddlebags and took out the journal. It was a leather journal with bronze edges. Heart stopped for a moment and opened it up. 'Blank... everything is blank...' she thought to herself before smiling and closing it. That was perfectly normal, considering the journal itself was enchanted.

It took her a couple of minutes to find the mansion that Livewire first talked about, but eventually she found it. Heart walked right up to the front of the mansion and, disguised in her usual filly illusion, rang the doorbell.

Livewire trotted about the Manor, really just pacing out of boredom more than anything. Not being able to freely come and go as he pleased was irritating at times, and he'd strongly considered taking out his strain of DME-63 and experimenting with it, just to see how long it's effects would last on some random pony. He didn't have any ponies on hoof though. Once again, his cycle of boredom, hope, and disappoint back into boredom had come full circle. If only there were somepony around, both willing and able to be experimented on. Stronghoof had been around the Manor less and less, having spent his time out doing...whatever it was the Earth pony did. Adventuring, being in a relationship, or some nonsense like those. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't a bit jealous. Of the adventuring, of course. He had no need for companionship.

Just like that though, a new pony crossed into the area of the Manor, setting off his runes. With a knowing look to the ceiling, and beyond, to the skies above, Livewire smiled and nodded at the Gods that had delivered him something to alleviate his boredom. Patience had paid off once again. The hybrid trotted over to the front door and opened it, the one who had been ringing the doorbell rather evident. There she was, still using an illusionary form smaller than she actually was. Heart.

Still, there was no reason to be hostile yet. Just because she hadn't had the common sense to upgrade to a more practical disguise didn't meant that he had to go slicing into her brain to make her have a bit more common sense. That would just be silly. "Good day there, young filly. Can I help you with anything today?"

Heart smiled, happy to see a familiar face around.

"Good day Doctor, have a few minutes to spare? I brought something I thought you might like." she told livewire. Heart took out the journal and tapped its bronze corners several times, resulting in a few mettalic sounds. She then took the journal and placed it back inside her saddlebags.

"I brought the journal, care to take a look with me?" she inquired.

A few minutes to spare? That was certainly the understatement of the century. He had nothing but time nowadays, and a fellow pony that he supposed had a certain affinity for medical knowledge had appeared before him. With any luck, his tests on DME-63 wouldn't have to wait for much longer. It could very well work as a weaponized strain if he could get the formula down. Thus far, he'd been unsuccessful in replicating an exact copy of it.

The hybrid smiled at Heart as well, looking in the air above where anypony else would be seeing the mare. Her physical form could do little to hide from his version of sight. On that note, however...

"Brought the journal, did you? I'd love to take a look at it honestly, but, you know." He tapped a hoof against his sunglasses. "Blind, and all that. Please, come in though. Do you require anything to drink?"

Heart giggled, finding Livewire's comment funny, but not ironic. She stepped into the mansion and looked around. The place was enormous! Much bigger than Heart expected. It posed the question of how he was able to afford it or.. If he did own it, who did?
She brushed through thought from her mind though, heart had other things to do than argue with herself over three possible ownership of a rather large mansion.

"Yes please, a glass of applejuice would do very well." she replied. Heart walked some more into the mansion before remembering that she was still disguised.

"Oh... Just give me a second, got to get this illusion off of me.

The yellow filly suddenly turned black, along with the surrounding area. Almost immediately after the black suddenly disappeared, leaving the real Heart in its place.

"Okay, so about that apple juice? I've got the journal safe and sound in my saddlebags.... And done worry.. " Heart giggled for a moment before speaking again. "... I'll be the one reading it. "

Livewire was already ready to stab her heart out for giggling at his blindness. His mention of it wasn't meant to be a joke. He was trying to highlight the actual issue that he was incapable of reading, a fact that angered him a great deal. He should've staked her head to the top of Town Hall like he'd planned to do the other day when he had the chance.

"Of course. Feel free to go wait in the living room while I prepare some apple juice for you." Livewire watched her walk away toward the direction of the room that he pointed her to, and went to the kitchen to fetch a glass of apple juice. Dreadful things, apples were. Always left a bad taste in his mouth, and his mind. They were easier to deal with than bloodstains in the Manor's rugs though. He trotted out to Heart with a glass of orange juice for her, and his recently refilled flask of gin for himself.

"Your illusionary skills could still use a bit of work, I must say. I could've sworn that I already told you about the issues with casting an illusion that is any smaller or larger than you actually are when trying to disguise yourself." He took a drink from his gin and gave her a half glare from behind his sunglasses. At the very least, she had come to visit him, so things weren't all bad.

Heart trotted over to the room that livewire pointed and soon found a comfortable looking chair. She took off her saddlebags, scythe, and teakettle before placing them beside the chair. Heart then opened her saddlebags and took out her journal and hopped onto the chair, making herself comfortable. This was the first time she had ever been in a hoofchair.

Soonthereafter, Livewire entered the room, carrying two drinks. Heart took her glass and brought it up to her lips to drink it before she noticed something, it was orange juice. She remembered that she had asked Livewire specifically for alppejuice, yet here she was with orange. It wasnt much of a difference and she drank it nonetheless, but this was still something to take note of.

"Ah yes... that. Theres a bit of a story behind -that- illusion and its the only one i know. I mean, its not like i have can learn a spell from nothing, it takes time... and knowing another illusionary spell would help." she replied.

Livewire shook his head at Heart's excuse. This mare had no imagination. He'd crafted plenty of aliases, and different faces for himself over the years, all off of the same basic illusion spell. It wasn't very hard to cast, and held up fairly well as long as nothing bumped into him too hard. Patience was the key to what he did. Case out the area, formulate a disguise, go in, take what he needed, and get out. Heart had a lot to learn in the ways of deception, if she was ever going to effectively use illusionary spells.

The hybrid took a seat on a chair across from Heart, and looked over at her, still drinking from his gin. He was beginning to fear that he was growing addicted to the drink. He'd have to nip that in the bud, before it became a serious problem later on. No one liked having a drunken doctor operate on them, after all. "Well, we'll just get around to that kind of thing later on. Now, this journal you have. What's in it exactly?"

Hearts face lit up once he mentioned the journal. Now was her chance to show off everything her figurative father had ever taught her, or rather everything he had done in his life. The journal itself was filled with maybe hundreds, no... a thousand different notes on medicinal herbs and different potions. However, as far as any normal pony was concerned, it was blank.

Heart giggled, she was going to play around a little, not say everything at once and try ad lead him in circles. "Oh that’s an easy question silly, nothing! Absolutely nothing!" she giggled before laughing. She got up and walked next to his chair before opening the journal in front of him and tapping its pages, showing that each page was blank.

Heart was clearly attempting to make fun of him for being blind. If this mare wanted a scalpel through her heart, she was about to get one. He glared at her, and gritted his teeth. "Why are you making fun of me for being blind? I invite you into my home, attempt to be a good host, and still, you see fit to belittle me for my ailment." Livewire stood up from his chair, and started walking away.

"I'm going to go prepare a potion or two. We have nothing further to discuss here, Heart. You know where the door is, so you can see yourself out." The nerve of some ponies! Attempting to antagonize him just because he couldn't see. Nothing in the journals indeed! How would he even know if there was or not?

Heart frowned, was livewire always this conclusive? She turned open to a page in the journal and began uttering some words ni another language.

"Dneirf dlo nekawa" she spoke to it.

The journal glowed, making a clear humming noise. Suddenly, it flipped to the first page and worde began appearing and attaching themselves to the pages at an alarming rate, semingly writing the journal itself. The pages flew frmo one to the next, being written by some unseen force and being turned as well in Hearts hooves. Finally, after the last page was written, the journal snapped shut.

"Make fun of you? I was serious, this journal is blank unless i activate it of course. I wasnt trying to make fun of you, thats something for the lowest of our equine kind. No i was merely making a joke on the journal being originally unwritten. This isnt a normal journal, as i think ive told you before Livewire." she told him as he walked away.
