Kite flew through the skies of Equestria, trying his best to stay above the clouds and out of eyesight of anyone that would happen to be below him with some sort of horrible magic spell or ranged weapon. He shuddered as he thought about the scene that he had witnessed at Trottingham from a hiding place he had managed to find before the battle had started. He knew the dangers when he went there, and he didn't care, he had never seen a battle before and this was his chance to finally witness one. He had seen what he came to see, and he was never more saddened than he was when he saw his people dropping from the sky with arrows littering their plumage.

Ever since that day, Kite had been nervous about flying over any part of Equestria, occupied or otherwise. One rogue spell or arrow would spell his doom and he just wasn't ready to die at this point because of a war that the country that he had abandoned long ago started. He hated his kind and country even more now that they had started this war filled with slaughter. He may have left his country years ago to travel the world, but now he finally felt justified in leaving for something other than just the way they treated him.

Kite brought his tattooed claws up to his face so that he could look at him, the three red stripes that marked him as a Caller stood out even more now that the moisture from so many clouds had managed to gather on his talons. He wished he could remove them and never use his powers again, but that would be pointless at this point. He had been gone too long and he couldn't justify going back now that he had experienced so much of the world outside of his home country that going back would be worse than wandering around the world alone for the rest of his life.

Kite craned his neck and reached his talons back to rub a sore spot on his shoulders. He had been flying for a day longer than he had originally expected trying to find a safe place for him to land. He had flown over a lot of places that he would have been happy to stop in before, but now it was just too scary for him, or any Gryphon, to land in those places. Though he was close to a place that he knew would allow him to land, a place that would at least tolerate his presence without pulling out swords and dangerous spells.

Ponyville, a place that had always been peaceful no matter what was going on in the world around them. A hamlet that seemed to be untouched by anything that happened in the world around them. "There it is," Kite said to himself as he saw a familiar group of buildings below him, "I've waited a long time to see these roofs." Kite then dove out of the sky at breakneck speeds, only slowing his descent when he got within a few hundred feet of the ground, still managing to slow himself enough to land lightly on his claws and paws.

Kite folded his wings and noticed that he was in the middle of the Ponyville market and a lot of ponies were staring at him. He sighed as he dropped his head and walked toward a place that was hopefully a bit less populated, "I'm no soldier," he muttered under his breath, "I just want to rest my wings without being judged for something I have no power over."

He walked a short distance before ending up in Ponyville park. He walked over to an oak tree before laying in the shade beneath it. Kite wanted to take a nap, but even here he couldn't close his eyes in an open area for fear of being beaten or worse. He kept one eye open, surveying the landscape to ensure that he was not jumped by a group of ponies.

Sighing quietly, the zebra sighed from her place on the park bench, looking a little bored as she stared up at the sky. Not only did it feel like an incredibly slow day, there were no ponies around that she felt like bugging today, no ponies that she figured would make good conversation. Idly, the zebra shook her hoof, causing the bracelet there to shake as well and ride back up on her leg. With that damn war happening all around Equestria, that situation had been proving to be more and more true by the day...

Even for the zebra who had been living in Ponyville nigh on ten years, it had strained relations with the other ponies in the town, making them distrust her. Even for the laid-back mare, it was frustrating, and still, she knew even after the war was over it would continue to paint a certain picture of her that she would be unable to shake despite having no correlation to the war, and wanting no correlation to the war. Slowly, the zebra raised the hoof she'd shaken and slowly ran it through her bushy mane, sky blue eyes still held up.

It was disappointing, there being no pony worthwhile to interact with. The zebra had scheduled times like this every week or so to get away from the house she lived in with her roommates Snowflake and Mara, so she wouldn't go crazy living with them. It was how she'd survived living in the same place in the same setting for so long. She knew that neither Snow nor Mara would be able to live without her... not to mention the fact that after the amount of time she spent living with Snow, she'd become a little dependant on the mare as well. She had no doubt she could set off again and survive on her own just fine, but things just wouldn't be the same without that carefree pony somewhere nearby.

Just as the zebra moved to sit back upright, something in the air caught her gaze as it flew down from the sky. Squinting her eyes a bit, she watched the object drop down to Ponyville. Was that... a griffon? Quickly, her eyes darted around the surrounding sky, looking to see if any other griffons had joined him, looking to see if the war had found its way to Ponyville. After a brief moment of that, she relaxed a bit upon finding nothing of the sort and sat back on the bench, one of her hooves idly spinning a bracelet on another hoof. She tried to find the griffon again, but by the time she saw him again, she caught barely a glimpse of him before he disappeared from sight, somewhere near the marketplace. Either the griffon was really brave or really stupid to just fly into Ponyville like that, even if it was one of the most peaceful and boring places the zebra had been.

Before long, that very same griffon began walking in the park. Intrigued, the zebra watched the griffon without leaving her place on the bench, her trademark smirk finding its way back to her face. Maybe this was just what she'd been searching for. The residents of Ponyville would be wary of a zebra and a griffon talking with each other, but she didn't really care about that. She wouldn't be doing anything suspicious, so they could get as uptight as they wanted about it.

So, about the time the griffon settled himself down near a tree, the zebra pushed herself up from the bench and stretched herself for a moment after landing on all four hooves. After letting out a groan of relief, she then began to approach the tree where the griffon stopped at, trying to fight off the strange feeling of deja vu. Hadn't she already approached this tree before, from this same direction, to do the very same thing she was going to do now?

Shrugging it off, she stalked closer as a cat might trying to stalk its prey--except, perhaps, looking not quite as ridiculous. "I can only wonda' how many pones ju sca'a'd wit' dat entr'nce o' jurs, bredda," the zebra said as she rounded the tree, stepping into plain sight. Her trademark smirk had spread a little bit wider, her sky blue eyes confidently staring the griffon down as her bushy mane cast something of a light shadow across some of her face. "Don'chu t'ink somet'in' quiet'a' might'a been a betta' choice? Maybe, somet'in' mo'a subtle?"

Kite had only been laying down for a moment before he was approached by a Zebra, one who he could only assume to be a local considering her knowledge of Equestrian. If her accent hadn't been a dead giveaway of her race, Kite probably would have been a lot more scared that it was some sort of authority figure, but he figured that a Zebra wouldn't be allowed to hold that sort of position in times of peace, and definitely wouldn't during these trying times. While the appearance of this Zebra wasn't exactly game breaking for his time of rest, it was still quite a bother while he was just trying to recover a bit of energy before leaving again.

"I'm sure I scared quite a few of the locals," Kite said, a slight Gryphonian accent still hanging to his words despite having not been in his home country for over a decade, "Though I doubt any of them will actually come after me with pitchforks once they realize that I'm alone and not a threat to their way of life. Plus, that's how I've always descended in to Ponyville and old habits die hard."

Kite pulled himself up a little bit so that he was leaning against the trunk of the tree, sighing out of frustration that his half-nap was cut short. Though as much as he was frustrated at his lack of sleep, he was still happy to see a friendly face in this town. "It's nice to see someone who doesn't look like they'd rather see my head on a pike than firmly planted on my shoulders," he said as he extended his tattooed talon towards the Zebra, "Even if the face in question has probably also been under a veil of scrutiny during these times. The name's Ty Blackwing, but everyone calls me Kite."

The griffon didn't quite seem to care about the fact that he'd literally swooped into Ponyville. It was because of that fact that she still wasn't able to tell whether he was brave or stupid; brave because he thought he could take on anypony that might have taken that as a threat, or stupid because he didn't think about it. He even seemed careless in that he doubted any residents of Ponyville would come after him. Certainly he knew about how many secrets some of these townsponies held, and how quick a lot of them were to judge? Just one griffon he might have been, but that wouldn't have stopped somepony from thinking he was some kind of unorthodox spy regardless of the fact that he said he'd been here before... Which the zebra did toss around in her head as a possibility.

The zebra's smirk widened slightly at the talon that was extended to her, and deciding to humor the griffon, she raised a hoof and bumped it against his talon before returning the hoof to the ground. "Hope ju don't mind, bredda, but Ty be rollin' off da tongue a lot betta', so dat's what I'ma be callin' ju. As fo'a me, da name be 'Lynn. Ma'Lynn." Her smirk remained as she lifted a hoof, airily brushing some of the mane that drooped down in front of her face aside to simulate a certain kind of mock haughtiness. She giggled after that however, and continued as her smirk changed into a half-grin.

"Ju be right 'bout bein' watched closa' dese days. I been livin' in Ponyville fo'a roughly ten ye'as, an' even still I be treated like some kind o' t'reat. Ain't got any kind o' want to be pa'ht o' dis wa', but it still be followin' be whe'aeva' I go." She sighed at that then offered a slight shrug, glancing back to Ty. "I've lived t'rough worse t'ough, so dis ain't not'in'. Jus' gotta keep movin' on."

'Lynn's smirk returned then, giving her an almost mischievious and sly look to her as it did every other time it showed on her face. "Ju know, ju seem pretty ca'a'less to me, bredda. Swoopin' in, not givin' a flyin' feat'a what happens... Ju be lucky none o' da trigga' happy ponies were 'round fo'a dat entr'nce, o'a else ju might not be he'a relaxin' in dis pa'hk."
