Humming quietly to herself, a light smile playing on her face, Misty Breeze slowly ran a brush through her dark green mane in front of the vanity mirror in her room, the only light illuminating the area around her being the ghost-white glow of Patches' unicorn candles. Those things were strange, especially since they gave off no kind of heat and for some reason if one stared directly at the flame then immediately looked off into the darkness, they'd be able to see just fine, unlike how an actual flame would make it impossible to do so.
It was a shock to her, the first time she'd ever shown up at her brother's house. She had no idea that he'd had to live with those candles ever since he met Patches, and for the first few times she'd come over to stay at the house for a few days, she had no idea how he could possibly live like that--or even how any of them could live like that. It was just so weird, despite the fact that she knew exactly why those candles were there in the first place.
After a few more moments of brushing her mane, Misty set the brush down on the vanity and slowly ran a hoof over her hair, making sure it was presentable. She had something very important she wanted to do today, so she wanted to be sure she looked her best, if only for personal comfort and confidence. When she determined that she looked good enough to go into public, Misty levitated her trademark magenta bandana to her neck and tied it there before taking her ear rings and placing those in her ears.
Inspecting herself one last time, Misty's smile widened slightly before stepping out of the guest bedroom in Lightning and Patches' shop-house and made her way downstairs. She passed by Patches on her way down and waved to the mare as she said, "Alright, I'm gonna head out for a little bit, sis. I'll try to be back before dark, but I actually have no idea how long I'm gonna be out. Either way, tell Lightning and the kids I'm not here so they don't worry about me!" Misty then stepped forward and wrapped a hoof around Patches, hugging her tightly before turning and moving to the shop's exit. "'Byyyeeeee!" she called out as she stepped through the doorway and into the afternoon air.
Her destination was a simple one: the Ponyville Library which was apparently supposed to be the weird tree house she'd seen somewhere in town before. But her goal wasn't to check out a book from there; instead, she was there to see if Twilight Sparkle was there, the pony she'd met back in Canterlot, the pony who'd shown her the beautiful Royal Canterlot Gardens on their first date. Another smile played on Misty's face as she thought about that. That place had been so beautiful, not to mention the castle she'd had to walk through twice to get in and out. For somepony of non-royalty like Misty it had been, in truth, a little intimidating--at least until she relaxed under the oak tree Twilight had stopped them at for their date.
Now, she was trying to find that pony again. She was pretty adorable all around: her coat and mane were pretty shades of purple or lavender, the laugh of hers was rather attractive, and Misty found the way she'd been unable to make up her mind before just ending their date had been cute in and of itself. Those were only minor details of the mare, however; she generally had a good time with Twilight and found she was relatively easy to get along with.
Thanks to Ponyville's small-but-growing size, it didn't take all that long for Misty to reach the tree-house she'd seen in passing so many times before. She approached that tree and stared up at it, something of an impressed look on her face. It was definitely something that looked welcoming--not to mention the fact that not every pony could say their residence was in a tree. Staring at the tree just made her wonder what the inside could possibly look like, not to mention how it was ever hollowed out in the first place.
Upon reaching the door, Misty took a slow breath before lifting a hoof and rapping it against the wood, knocking three times. She waited then, an easy yet excited smile on her face for when Twilight decided to see who had come around.

Twilight stood over her desk in the far corner of what was her bedroom, her eyes buried in a book. Was because right now the space that had originally been reserved as her sleeping quarters had been overtaken by a large crystal structure with some complicated looking machinery all around it. Twilight looked up at the structure and back down on towards the book a couple of times before nodding once and walking towards it. It had been a few days since she had returned from Canterlot and she had been pouring all of her thoughts, time, and energy into completing it as quickly as possible.
She walked around the machine, checking the crystal for any cracks or any other sort of structural weakness. " Everything seems to be in order," Twilight said as she opened the door to the structure and walked over to a small console off to the side, "The scanner seems to be working and the crystal structure is solid. The Null-Magic Emitter is receiving power and the crystal has been packed tightly enough that it won't leave the structure. It's been a few days worth of grueling work, but I think my Null-Magic Field is finally ready," Twilight said with a proud look on her face.
A Null-Magic Field, a staple for testing any sort of new magic to ensure that no one would get hurt due to any complications with the spell. The way it worked was that the console would track any sort of magic that was going on inside of the crystal structure and would note every single individual piece of energy that was used in every spell. If it was a new spell, the formula would have to be inputted first so that it could easily track it and stop the magic from channeling the second even the smallest thing deviated from the formula. Sometimes it was a bit over the top, but it was necessary to ensure the caster's safety.
"Right," Twilight said as she went over to the console and entered in the formula for a simple levitation spell, "Time to test this bad boy." She left the structure for a moment and ran downstairs to grab an apple from the kitchens. It had been so long since she had messed up a levitation spell, Twilight just hoped she would be able to remember how to actually make a mistake with it. She opened the door again and placed the apple in the middle of the floor as she closed the door and walked towards the center so that she was standing right in the middle of the Null-Magic Field.
As her horn lit up, she could hear the machinery running as it processed every single magical particle in the air around her horn, ensuring that any mistake that she made wouldn't have dire consequences. She concentrated on the apple, and wrapped her magic around it. Now came the hard part, actually messing up the spell. She lifted the apple into the air the way she always did, only this time instead of thinking about lifting the apple, she thought about lifting a completely different object, something much larger. Instead of casting a simple levitation spell, she instead cast a Heavy Object levitation spell which didn't have the same formula as the spell she inputted into the console.
A bright flash came across Twilight's eyes. At the same time as the flash, she suddenly felt a lot weaker and also heard a thud as the apple hit the floor and rolled off to the side of the structure. Twilight walked over to it and tried to lift it again, this time using the right spell, but couldn't summon any magic to actually do it. Twilight beamed with pride, "Never thought I'd be so happy to not be able to use my magic," she said as she went over to the console and cancelled out the commands. She wouldn't be able to access her magic for fifteen minutes while her stores of energy got over the shock of being nullified.
It was then that Twilight heard a knock on the door, "Who could that be," Twilight said as she pushed the door open for the structure, "The Library is closed," she said as she walked downstairs and looked through the peephole to get a look at the visitor she had outside. A smile stretched across Twilight's face as she saw a familiar green coat. She grabbed onto the doorknob with her hooves and pulled it open, "Misty!" she said as she embraced her Marefriend, "It's so good to see you. I was hoping you wouldn't take too long to come see me again after Canterlot. How have things been?"

Misty didn't need to wait very long before she heard the door click open before widening enough for her to clearly see the mare on the other side. Upon seeing Twilight, the smile on Misty's face widened, and only managed to further do so when the unicorn rushed forward to embrace her. Misty giggled at the embrace and returned it to the best of her abilities, squeezing Twilight tightly in return.
"Things have been awesome!" Misty replied to Twilight's question, pulling back from their embrace but leaving a hoof on Twilight's in exchange. "I applied to the Institute a little bit after our date and then I came over here to Ponyville to talk to my brother to see if they'd be willing to let me stay with them 'cause it's only a short train ride from here to Canterlot, but a trip from Salt Lick City to Canterlot would take much longer and I think my parents wanted the house to themselves for a while anyway and I haven't seen my two amazing nieces for a while so this turned out to be a win-win for everypony--including us 'cause I'll always be nearby if you needed me for anything or just wanted to hang out! Oh, and my brother said I'd be able to stay with them, so hooray~!" she cheered, a genuinely happy look crossing her face as she did so.
The look almost immediately faded again however and took on an almost sheepish quality as she continued. "Sorry 'bout not getting word to you that I was staying here sooner. I really wanted to get settled in and stuff first and spend a little bit of time with my brother and his family before running off to see if you still wanted to get to know each other a little better--which, by the way, I totally enjoyed our first date." She paused then and glanced at Twilight with an almost mischievious look accompanied by something of a half-grin. "Which reminds me... I think I still owe you something~," she drew out as she leaned forward, only to plant a kiss onto Twilight's cheek.
Giggling, Misty stood upright again, the cheery disposition returning to her features. "So anyway, I came by wanting to know if maybe you were free and wanted to hang out or go on a date or something. How've you been since our date, anyway?"

Twilight listened closely to everything Misty was saying, concentrating to make sure she got a hold of every single word that her marefriend was saying at what seemed like a million miles an hour. She had to do the same thing when she spoke with Pinkie sometimes, but when Misty did this the words actually made some sort of sense as opposed to what she had to deal with sometimes when it came to her bubbly pink friend. She nodded along after ever ten words or so just to show Misty that she was at least getting everything that was being said to her. She was always so happy, and Twilight was just happy that she was part of the reason that Misty felt that way. A smile that looked similar to Misty's spread across the purple unicorn's face as her marefriend continued talking.
Then Twilight noticed Misty leaning over quickly as she felt a pair of lips touch her cheek. Twilight wasn't quite sure how to react at that exact moment, but it didn't take long for her body to decide for her. Twilight's usually light purple cheeks turned into a dark mauve as she felt a heat rising up to her face. 'Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh she kissed my cheek whatdoIdowhatdoIdowhatdoIdo? Come on, Twilight, get it together, you weren't like this when you kissed her earlier and you've played this scenario out in your head plenty of times just get it together and just stick to your training. Oh who am I kidding I didn't do any training, I've been too busy with this extremely important project to even think about romance! Oh what's wrong with me!'
Twilight's mouth opened for a moment, then closed again, "I've been good," she said, still a little flustered, 'Why am I still so nervous around her? I thought I would be used to her!', "And of course I'd like to go on another date with you," Twilight said as a smile passed over her face again, "I know that our first date was a little bit over the top, but I hope you don't expect it to be like that all the time."
Twilight then stepped outside, closing the door with her hooves on the way out, "It's such a lovely day though," She said as she locked the door behind her, "Why don't we go swimming out in Whitetail Woods? There's this really pretty little clearing out there with a little lake and a waterfall and everything. I'm sure you'd love it," Twilight said as she nuzzled up to Misty, "That is, unless you had something else in mind?"

Twilight's reactions were so adorable. Immediately after having planted the kiss on her cheek, Twilight's face lit up in a furious blush, leaving her looking dazed and flustered over what Misty had done. She completely caught the other unicorn off guard, and that showed in her body language as she stood in almost complete shock, even sounding a little nervous when she responded to Misty's question, then saying that she'd enjoy another date before commenting on the grandeur of their first.
Misty giggled a bit at Twilight's words, slowly shaking her head as she stepped back to allow the mare to come outside with her. She mentioned something about 'Whitetail Woods' and going to a lake with a water fall which sounded just as grand as the Royal Garden... but it was, at least, a lot more natural and less intimidating. So, Misty gave another shake of her head to Twilight's last question before offering her typical cheery smile and returning Twilight's nuzzle. "I don't even know what this 'Whitetail Woods' place is. Pretty much every time I've been in Ponyville's been somewhere around my family. So I'm not really familiar with the area or anything nearby. But from the way you described it it sounds awesome, so if you'll lead the way I'll be right there with ya!"
Teasingly, Misty swept a hoof out to allow Twilight to lead the way and waited for her to begin moving before falling in step beside her, their bodies in close proximity to each other. "And it's such an awesome day for swimming, too. Not at all cold, and nowhere near hot. So we won't be miserable either way! Oh, and as for the whole dates not being over-the-top all the time. That's perfectly fine, Twilight. Actually, I think I'd prefer it that way 'cause I'd be so much more in my comfort zone. Even more so 'cause I don't think I'd ever be able to top something like the Royal Gardens. Like, that's so... amazing that you'd even consider doing that for me, and I can't think of anything to match that."
Misty paused then and glanced over to Twilight, a humorous grin on her face. Slowly, she pressed closer to Twilight until their sides were brushing with every other step and Misty could intertwine her tail with Twilight's. She giggled quietly, reaching her head over to gently nuzzle underneath the mare's chin again before saying, "You know, you were pretty cute when you were flustered just now~. I don't think I've ever seen anypony blush that hard. And I have to say I really liked it. You were just so adorable~," Misty squealed quietly, pulling her head away from Twilight's to show the most simplistic, brightest, happiest expression a pony could wear. "If you were nervous about that kiss on the cheek, I could always do it more so you can get more familiar with it..."

Twilight let out a sigh of relief when Misty said that she was actually happy that they wouldn't be doing something so grand for this date. She was half happy because it was going to be hard to keep up with dates of that scale while also staying within a thirty mile radius of Ponyville which would have made the relationship a chore. The other half of her happiness was that it was just that extra bit of proof that she wanted to ensure that Misty wasn't just dating her because of who she was and what she could do. She was dating her because she honestly liked her for being herself, not someone who would take their dates to majestic places just to try and impress them.
"Well," Twilight said as she blushed slightly when Misty managed to intertwine their tails together, it wasn't quite as overwhelming as the kiss, but it was still a new experience for her, "I'm just happy that you're happy with me. I'm really trying my best to be a good marefriend, which probably isn't all that apparent considering I've been kind of ignoring you for the last couple days. but I'm still trying." Twilight made an effort to try and keep rubbing against Misty so that their tails could remain intertwined as they walked towards Whitetail Woods, "And this really is a perfect day for swimming, can't remember the last time the weather was this nice."
"I-I didn't feel cute," Twilight said as she turned away from Misty, "I just felt embarrassed because I couldn't handle something so simple without freaking out. I don't know, I just feel like I'm so far behind when it comes to these kind of experiences compared to other mares my age," Twilight said with a sigh as she turned back to Misty with a smile on her face, "But I am glad that I'm getting to experience all of them with you."
Twilight started to blush again when Misty suggested that she kiss her more often, "I'm not exactly opposed to the idea," Twilight said with a shy smile on her face, "In fact, I'd say that you should definitely do it. Hopefully it will help me get used to it for when we kiss for real," Twilight said with a wink as she bent down and kissed Misty on the cheek, "Now it's your turn," she said with a little giggle as they entered the woods.

Almost immediately after Misty's question, another one of Twilight's adorable blushes lit up her cheeks, exactly as Misty had hoped for. She giggled at the mare's reaction and words, even closing the eye closest to the cheek that she'd kissed as her grin widened. Twilight then mentioned it was her turn, and Misty snickered at that before responding with, "Heehee, I guess it is my turn~." However, she didn't bring her head over to return Twilight's kiss. Instead, she kept her mischievous grin and continued to walk beside Twilight, her gaze moving through the trees nearby. So this was Whitetail Woods? She supposed it was pretty, with all of the various tall, white trees. And they hadn't even gotten to the spot Twilight wanted them to be at yet...
"I wouldn't stress over the whole not seeing each other for a couple days thing. I mean, we don't have to be near each other at all times and space is pretty good from time to time, and especially don't make yourself go crazy about trying to make every moment amazing. I know you've probably heard it before but be yourself, and that's totally gonna do more than any amount of fanciness will do! And I appreciate your trying. It feels good to know you want to with me~."
She glanced to Twilight again after that, her grin spreading a little bit wider as she thought about the way the mare looked with her furiously blushing cheeks. "Even if you are behind on all those experiences, just consider me being there for that. If you've got any questions or anything you've always wanted to try or know about, I'm telling you now I'd be more than willing! But you really were super cute~. I think I'm gonna have to try and make you blush as much as I can just to see you like that." Misty giggled again after that, innocently turning her eyes away as she brought her head closer to Twilight's ever-so-slightly.
"You know, speaking of making you blush..." Misty drew out in a teasing manner, her head moving just a little bit closer to Twilight's again. "I think I have something of yours." She then flicked her eyes over to Twilight, moving her head the rest of the way to the mare before planting a kiss on her cheek and darting her head back away, grinning in triumph. She watched Twilight for a moment before giggling at her and looking back out over the woods surrounding them.
"Soooo, I see you're already looking forward to your first real kiss, Twilight," Misty said in an innocent manner, the look on her face telling the story of a smirk that she was trying desperately to hide. "Talking about how you're hoping my kissing you on the cheek will help prepare you for when it actually happens; that's so sweet... How many times has it crossed your mind already, I wonder?" she asked, now unable to keep her smirk from showing. It was a tight-lipped smirk, what one might imagine a cat would look like if it actually had the ability to smile--and it was a smirk that was directed straight at Twilight as she waited for the mare's response.

Twilight nodded at Misty's first point, "I guess you're right," she said as she looked around for the hidden trail that she would need to turn down to get to their destination. She looked back over at Misty, "I wouldn't want to spend so much time together that we start to get tired of each other. Not that I think something like that would ever happen, but I wouldn't want to risk it. I like you a lot, so I wouldn't want to lose you because I couldn't give you enough space to do your own thing," Twilight said with a smile.
"Well of course I want to try my best with you," Twilight said as she nudged Misty playfully, "I want to make sure that you'll be a part of my life for as long as possible, and I'm willing to put my all into this relationship to make sure that happens," She said as she nuzzled Misty's neck, "And I hope you don't think that I'm not being myself. I can guarantee that everything I do is one-hundred percent genuine. I mean, I'm not always fancy like I was on our first date, but I'm sure that I proved that I have a pretty large bag of tricks."
Misty's next point actually took Twilight by surprise a little bit. She was going to try and make her blush as much as possible, which probably wouldn't be too hard considering how easily the blush had come to Twilight around her marefriend. That wasn't the main thing that she got out of that point though, the major point was that she would be willing to go through with any of the things that Twilight had questions about. There were so many things that she had read about, some things were super romantic, others were just about the cutest thing anyone would ever see. There were other things as well, usually they included a rather soft bed and satin sheets, sometimes with rose pedals strewn across the room, maybe some candles or some incense burning in the background. Twilight's face started to get a little more pink when those thought's came to mind, but she quickly dispelled them. She was curious about those things, but she definitely wasn't ready.
That's when she suddenly felt Misty's lips on her cheek, not even hearing the words that she had said before. Twilight's already slightly pink face turned a dark shade of red, not quite as bad as it had been the first time, but she was definitely getting flustered again by Misty. Twilight quickly shook her head to try and get rid of the nervousness, "Oooooohh, Misty, why does everything you do to me have to be so darn cute. All these extra bits of flair you're adding to these simple actions just makes it so hard to deal with," Twilight hoped that her being flustered wouldn't come off as her being frustrated so she felt that she ought to clarify, "but I still love the way you do it. Promise me you'll never ever stop," she said as she nuzzled up against Misty again, her face still red from before.
Misty's question was definitely something that Twilight had thought about before. Their first kiss, the way it would happen, the place it would be, the way that she would react, would they kiss again right afterwards? All of these questions came to her nightly in her dreams, but there was no way Misty expected her to answer her. That was when she saw that face, that tight lipped grin, like a cheshire cat just asking for answers, searching for something that she didn't want to say, but felt compelled to regardless.
"It crosses my mind all the time at night. That's all my dreams have been filled with ever since I left after our first date. I've gone through every scenario, every place, every time, all of it just passing through my head like a slideshow. Both of us popping out of the water at the same time, our manes and bodies soaked as we look into each other's eyes, both of us knowing exactly what should happen before you finally take action and press your lips against mine. Fireworks at the Castle, I look over to you in the middle of the display, my eyes staring at your lips as they curl up in wonder at the flashing explosions in the sky, I turn your face towards mine, not saying a word in warning, and suddenly kiss you as the last rocket is shot into the air, enveloping our form in light. Walking down a road like this, I'm describing all of the ways I want to kiss you and I'm just rambling away not seeming like my stream of consciousness would ever stop unless something were to interrupt my lips from moving, your first instinct is to press your lips against mine and we stop in the middle of the road in a tight embrace. In a movie theater, watching a scary movie...." Twilight continued the thoughts, her face growing redder and redder as she started to realize what she was saying, but she just couldn't stop. That face that Misty made, it was forcing her to say all of these things for no reason.
'Bad at magic, my flank,' Twilight thought as the words continued to flow, 'She made me say all of these things with just a single look.'

After a moment's hesitation, Twilight responded to Misty with an honest answer: that the thought of her first kiss had crossed her mind time. Misty had some sort of idea that that was the case with her: since Misty was her first marefriend, she wasn't surprised that Twilight was acting that way and really, it was a little cute, just like the mare's blush. However, what Misty wasn't expecting was the level of detail that Twilight thought about it. After telling Misty that she'd thought about it in different scenarios, times and such, she began to go in even greater detail about it all.
First was a scene in water, like something ripped directly out of some romantic novel. The both of them surfacing in whatever source of water they'd decided to go swimming in before staring into each others' eyes and Misty leaning forward to start the kiss... With the way Twilight described it, even Misty couldn't help but blush a bit at the image it put in her mind, leaving her a little breathless as she ran the scene through her own mind as well. She could see why it appealed to Twilight.
She was given little time to contemplate fully on it, however. She began to describe a scene that any romantic could get behind: the two of them sitting side by side during a fireworks show with Twilight watching her halfway through, making her turn Misty's head to hers and planting a kiss on her lips as the biggest firework burst into the air. It was a lot less flustering than the water scene, but no less appealing. Either Twilight had a really active imagination, or she was much more of a romantic than she thought she was...
Then came the biggest scene of them so far. She described them walking down a road like this, Twilight doing exactly what she was doing now with no end in sight. She mentioned Misty planting a kiss on Twilight's lips to stop her mid-sentence as if to show her she got the point while they embraced tightly... Whether or not Twilight had been trying to send a message to Misty with that scene, it worked. For one, who was she to deny the mare one of her fantasies? An opportunity like this would rarely show itself again, if ever. Second, she was comfortable enough around Twilight to do it. It was only the start of their second date, maybe, but she had been looking forward to this just as much as Twilight had. She was attractive, smart, genuine... It was more than she could say for some of her past relationships, and some of those had unfortunately moved a lot faster than this one had.
For a few moments, Misty just continued to listen to the different scenes Twilight recounted to her, trying to commit them to memory so maybe she could make a few meaningful things happen for the mare beside her. Then, when she felt the time was right, she stepped closer to Twilight and in one swift motion, brought her hoof up to Twilight's cheek, forcing the mare to stop before pulling her head in her direction and pressing her lips to Twilight's in a tame, but wholehearted kiss. She moved the hoof that she'd placed on Twilight's cheek up around her neck, allowing it to rest there as she hugged the mare closer to her, making the kiss that little bit more intimate.
After allowing the kiss to ensue for about ten seconds, Misty pulled away from the kiss, no doubt to Twilight's dismay. With her hoof still wrapped around the mare's neck, she offered yet another tight-lipped smirk as she attempted to recover, simply staring into Twilight's eyes for the few moments she took before speaking. "Heehee, I hope it went a little something like that, Twilight~... I couldn't help myself after what you said. I know you were totally trying to get me to do that, and it worked so well. You really are quite the romantic, aren't you~?" Misty purred, moving her head forward just a little bit to lick the end of Twilight's snout in a teasing manner.

Twilight had been rambling on and on for awhile now, "Then the dragons fly away spewing fire into the sky, that one's a little far fetched I think I had some bad tomatoes before bed or something. We're on a pirate ship..." Twilight suddenly stopped speaking as she felt Misty's hoof on her face, as her marefriend circled around in front of her and pulled her close. 'Oh my gosh is this really happening?' Twilight thought as her lips met Misty's, 'Oh goddess this is happening, and it's amazing, and I have no idea what I'm doing but this is amazing!' For a few moments, Twilight was paralyzed by the surprise of it all, but then she finally got around to returning the kiss, wrapping her legs around Misty and pulling her close, not wanting this moment to ever end.
Sadly, it did have to come to a close eventually as Misty pulled away from the kiss leaving Twilight's lips still stuck in that same kissing position just without another pair of lips to meet hers. She stayed like that for a moment before realizing that the kiss had ended, her face turning a bright red as she turned her head towards the floor, half embarrassed and half disappointed that it had to stop. She turned her eyes back up towards Misty, still keeping her head facing the ground as a smile spread across her face, "Well it wasn't really my original intention," Twilight said as her face leveled back to where it was, "But it definitely worked out well in the end."
That was when Misty licked her nose. Twilight just stood there for a moment, a million things still racing through her head about the kiss and now Misty just had to add that little nose lick to the equation. "Misty, you know what I really like about you," Twilight said as she placed her hooves on Misty's cheeks and lightly squeezed them together, "Everything you do is so damn cute I just can't stand it," Twilight said in a teasing way, almost like someone would say it to a colt or filly.
Twilight giggled as she let go of Misty's face and placed her hooves back on the ground, "Come on," she said as she continued down the road, "We're getting really close." Twilight continued down the road for about fifty yards more before turning down a small trail that was breaking off from the one they were travelling. "The trails kind of narrow so we're gonna have to go single file," Twilight said as she took the lead. She was just walking normally for a little bit until she realized the situation she was in. She started to sway her hips back and forth with every step, "So," she said as she looked back to Misty, "Like what you see"
Twilight wasn't sure where this confidence had come from, maybe that kiss had allowed her to be a little bit more bold than he had been before, or maybe she was finally starting to get used to the idea of having a marefriend. Either way, it was nice to not be constantly flustered around Misty like she had been before that wonderful moment they shared. About twenty five yards of walking later and Twilight saw what she was looking for, "Come on," Twilight said as she picked up the pace a bit before emerging into a clearing with a small lake with a rather large waterfall dropping into it. There were a few rather large rocks surrounding the lake that you could climb and jump off of into the water if one desired it. The cliff that the waterfall was coming from was also climbable, but Twilight hadn't met any non-pegasi who were willing to jump off of that. "So, she said, "What do you think?"

Misty's nose lick succeeded. Just as she aimed to do, she caught Twilight off guard with the nose lick, making the mare not really do much else besides stare at her. As a result, Misty just grinned toothily until Twilight finally seemed to come to. She asked Misty if she knew what she really liked about her before lifting her hooves to Misty's cheeks and squeezing them, causing her to giggle as Twilight mentioned everything she did being so cute. She might not have really been trying for the cute approach, but if that was how Twilight wanted to see it, she certainly wasn't going to complain~.
Twilight returned to leading the way after that and Misty marched right on after her, her happiness taking hold in the way she walked as her steps began to grow more childish by the moment until her gait was almost that of a toy soldiers: without bending her knees she wobbled from side to side as she stuck her legs out in front of her, toothy grin still shining on her face. When Twilight turned so did Misty and she continued to march behind Twilight in her silly manner. That march faltered slightly when Misty's eyes fell on the flank in front of her, noting the way it seemed to sway back and forth in a hypnotizing manner. Without thinking Misty just stared, a light blush subconsciously finding its way to her cheeks until Twilight turned her attention back over her shoulder and Misty tried to jerk her eyes away so the mare in front wouldn't notice what she'd been staring at--though it was entirely likely that Twilight could have been able to tell without any problems.
"Uh, y-yeah! These woods arrreee... really really pretty! N-never seen anything like 'em before! I, um, I never knew trees could be so tall and... brown... and tall." She clamped her mouth shut after that, realizing just how stupid she'd made herself sound, though she continued to hold her gaze away from Twilight, hoping to find something that could take her mind off of what had just happened. That soon came, in the form of the clearing Twilight had been leading them to in the first place. It was twice as beautiful as the woods themselves, what with the crystal clear lake in the middle of the clearing, the waterfall that poured fourth from the cliff wall, the dull, steady roar of the water hitting the surface of the lake below... It was all breathtakingly perfect.
When Twilight asked what Misty thought, she didn't respond with words. Instead, she slowly removed her bandana and ear studs, setting them down someplace safe nearby before suddenly darting forward and gathering her magic, only to teleport herself onto one of the rocks surrounding the water. Without losing any momentum she ran to the edge of the rock, tensed up her legs and launched herself out over the water, pulling in her legs close to her body to cannonball into the water. After slamming into the lake Misty took a moment to gather her bearings before swimming up to the surface and flipping her mane to one side upon doing so. She then looked over to Twilight, a tight-lipped smirk and challenging grin in her eyes as she said, "I think it's perfect, Twilight; the only thing that would make it better is if you came and joined me for a swim~."

Twilight watched as Misty teleported up to the top of the rock, she just wanted to see her take the plunge before she did herself. She started laughing when Misty canonballed into the lake producing a small splash. She waited a moment for Misty to resurface, clapping her hooves together as if she was a spectator at some kind of competition, "Ten out of ten," Twilight said with a giggle as she teleported herself onto the same rock that Misty was on. She was about to show Misty the power of a canonball that was spiced up with just a little bit of magic.
"Brace yourself," Twilight said as her horn glowed, casting a spell on herself that increased her density drastically without increasing her weight. This was kind of dangerous considering she would sink pretty quickly once she hit the water, but Twilight had done this before and was used to cancelling the spell quickly, "I'm an expert at this stuff." Twilight stepped back a few feet before running forward and launching herself off the rock, "Geronimo!" she cried as she fell through the air at a pretty high velocity before hitting the water.
The water was only calm for a moment once Twilight hit, but soon after she started sinking, the water shot up in a huge jet of liquid. It continued to shoot upwards for a couple seconds before falling back into the water like raindrops. By this time, Twilight was halfway to the bottom of the lake, so she quickly cancelled the spell and cast one that would decrease her density instead. A few moments later she was at the surface, surfacing not too far from Misty.
Twilight flipper her hair to the side and slowly swam over to Misty. The purple unicorn had never really noticed before, but there was something about a wet mare that made them so much sexier than they were dry. Twilight started to swim over slowly, putting on her best seductive look, "You know," She said when she was just a few feet from Misty, "This might not be exactly how I dreamed it, but I think that it's definitely close enough," Twilight said as she wrapped her hooves around Misty and quickly pulled her into a kiss. Twilight's leg reached up to Misty's head as she ran her hoof through her mane. This kiss felt like it had more passion than the one on the road, maybe it was because Twilight wasn't taken by surprise by this one, or maybe it was because of the way Misty looked at the moment. Either way, Twilight was having the time of her life.
The kiss lasted about fifteen seconds and it was Twilight who broke it off this time, "So," she said as she started swimming towards the middle of the small lake, "I told you all the dreams that I had about you. Did anything like that ever cross your mind?" Twilight asked with a wink.

"Hee hee, thanks Twilight~," Misty purred at Twilight's score of her plunge, slowly kicking her legs out in the water to keep her afloat. She'd never seen water this pristine before, but it was absolutely beautiful, and a wonder to swim in. Even the mist from the waterfall that sifted through the air and into her her face was pleasant and not annoying in the slightest. As Misty took in the scene around her, Twilight teleported up onto the same rock Misty had launched off of before calling out with "brave yourself">
Blinking, Misty looked back to Twilight, wonder just what she meant by that for she followed it up with "I'm an expert at this". At what? Launching herself off of a rock? Cannonballing into water? She thought her talent was magic, not swimming-related abilities. Whatever time she spent figuring out what Twilight meant was soon wasted, as Twilight leapt off of the rock... and fall rather quickly down through the air. A little surprised by that, Misty couldn't help but follow the mare for the few split seconds before she disappeared under the water's surface. That was a pretty neat trick--Misty had no idea how she managed to make herself fall so quickly, but it definitely worked.
She watched through the clear water below her as Twilight began to swim back up before surfacing. Immediately upon her doing so, Misty piped up with, "Hee hee, yay! You totally beat me, Twilight. I can't even compare to th...at..." She hesitated mid-sentence when she noticed the expression on Twilight's face, an expression she couldn't really describe. Whatever that expression was it flustered Misty, and made the wet mare's cheeks begin to glow as she tried to figure it out. Despite the fact that the look caught Misty off guard, she gave a grin as she breathlessly stared at the other unicorn while she waded through the water and closed the distance between them, that look still on her face. She might not have known what that look was, but she liked it. It was something she wanted to see more, and directed at her no less.
So when Twilight mentioned one of her dreams from before and wrapped her hooves around Misty alongside a kiss, she returned those sentiments as she wrapped her own hooves around Twilight, back hooves still kicking through the water to help keep them afloat while she returned Twilight's passioante kiss. She didn't start this one but it was so nice nonetheless, and it just made Misty blush all that much more. It lasted for a wonderful fifteen seconds or so before Twilight pulled away, seeming to have a much more confident air about herself as she began to swim back around to the middle of the lake. Grinning like an idiot, Misty just swam in place for a moment before remembering where she was. She then swam slowly after Twilight, taking her time in reaching wherever the mare had stopped.
"Hmm, I think I might've day dreamed about it a few times~. You did leave me with a very good first impression, after all," Misty said, giggling as she reached over with her head to nuzzle Twilight's neck. "I've thought about how we might be lying under a tree at night, surrounded by thousands of blinking fireflies with the canopy of stars above of us... I say something that makes you roll over to look at me before pausing and leaning down to kiss me. I've thought about us having a candlelight dinner on top of the roof of a tall building, the entire city spanning out below us as we go to the edge of the building and take a moment to really take it all in. You lean over to nuzzle me after saying something, and I lift your head so I can kiss it with all of the city's lights as our backdrop..." She paused after that, giggling at Twilight as she turned to float on her back in the water. "Sorry, I guess that was the drama side of me coming out~."
Misty hummed for a moment after that, gazing at Twilight out of the corner of her eye as she thought about what to say next. "So where'd you get to be such a romantic, anyway? Do you just like watching other ponies?" She asked teasingly, winking at Twilight in jest.

Twilight giggled when she saw Misty's dumbfounded expression. It seemed that she had managed to catch her marefriend off guard for once and had actually managed to make her blush. It was nice to finally be on the side that was making the moves that caused her partner to get flustered and she was hoping that she would be able to do more of that. One of the reasons was because she was having fun being on the more dominant side of the relationship at the moment and that new bout of confidence had helped her with that. The other reason was similar to the one that made Misty want to try and constantly make her flustered, the green mare really was super cute when she blushed.
Twilight listened intently as Misty described her fantasies to her, it was nice to know that Twilight was the only one that couldn't get her partner out of her head. All of it sounded so wonderful, and each new scenario was something that Twilight wanted to make happen, if not to fulfill her own dreams, but to make sure Misty's came true as well. "Well," Twilight said with a grin, "We've been dealing with some of my dreams about us today, I'm sure we can fit in a couple of your fantasies too. Plus, all of that stuff sounds super amazing and breathtaking and just absolutely wonderful. The best part is, all of those dreams are things that we can make a reality, so let's promise to do just that," Twilight said with a wink as she nuzzled Misty's neck.
Twilight blushed slightly when Misty asked how she had become such a romantic, "Ummm, I'm not really sure," she said as she flipped onto her back and started floating next to Misty, "It might be from all of the romance novels I've read and some of those sappy films I've seen. I've never really gone out of my way to ask my friends or anyone else what their fantasies are or how they would act in intimate situations. Everything that makes me a romantic pretty much stems from what I've learned from reading books about real romantic, ponies who have managed to write classics based on creating intimate situations between two lovers that set the reader's heart on fire. I know it's kind of cheesy, and I hope you don't mind that kind of stuff, but that's just where I've learned it from."
"Now what about you?" Twilight said as she turned her head towards Misty, "Tell me about some of the things you've done that got you here, the things that turned you into the mare I'm dating. I want to know some of the experiences that got you here since I'm sure you weren't born with the knowledge of how to be the best marefriend ever," Twilight said as she leaned over and kissed Misty on the cheek.

Continuing to lazily float on her back, Misty watched Twilight as the mare turned over on her back as well, joining Misty in the slow drift across the surface of the water as she began to talk about how she came to be such a romantic. Apparently, she was another pony who got all of her ideals and expectations from reading books and watching movies. She glanced briefly away from Twilight at that answer, having expected it but not really wanting to hear it. The last mare she'd been with who'd been like that... things hadn't turned out so well...
Twilight then asked about experiences Misty had gone through to get where she was now, and Misty hesitated for a moment as she thought about what to tell Twilight. She could be completely honest and ruin the entire mood of the date... but she also didn't want to lie and destroy the mare's trust of her so soon. So, sighing quietly, Misty flipped back over and began to swim to the bank as she called out to Twilight. "Well, it's probably not what you're expecting, but alright." She then sat down on the bank, half of her body still submerged under the water as she stared at the waterfall on the other side.
"Let's see, where do I start? First marefriend, she was nice enough. I think she more took pity on me than anything in retrospect. I enjoyed myself, but that's also the relationship where I learned not to be too clingy--because that's exactly how I was and... well, things didn't last all that long. A couple relationships later, I got in with a mare who was really really fun to hang out with at first... but she started snapping at me for no reason and just wouldn't talk to me and would try to avoid me as much as she could. When she did finally tell me what was going on, she told me that I was just so annoying... and then broke up with me.
"Next relationship I hooked up with this really, really sweet mare. who I got along with so well... but she also read a lot of romantic books and romantic movies. So anything I did didn't meet up to her expectations because real life is so much more different than somepony's story... So because I kept disappointing her, she broke up with me. Some time after that, I kind of hooked up with a mare out of desperation. She was the first one I..." Misty paused and blushed at that, sheepishly turning her gaze down for a moment. "Nevermind--I was kinda speaking without thinking. Anyway, my parents helped me figure out she was just using me for my body and... I ended it shortly after."
Misty hesitated for a few more moments before offering a quiet sigh and continuing. "After I gave dating a break for a while, I got back together with the first mare I dated. Everything went pretty smoothly until... I learned she was cheating on me. Apparently for as long as we'd been back together, too. I just stopped trying altogether for a while... then I met you. And all of that doesn't even include the stallions I tried hooking up with, or the relationships that were doing just fine but had to stop because life intervened, or they had to move, or something like that..."
Misty quirked her mouth to the side after that, silence ensuing for a second or two. "I don't think I've ever really talked to anypony about all of that before," she said after some thought. "At least, not all at once. And when I think about it like this, it makes me wonder why I even kept trying--it all ended up the same. I guess I was just so scared of being alone that I didn't care, that I just wanted to be with somepony else no matter what."
She finally looked over to Twilight after that, the former happiness in her demeanor having waned vastly. "Anyway, I just want to say that I don't really mind that the only relationship stuff you know is from books and movies... just don't let it turn out like it did with my other marefriend. Real life's a lot different than in the movies and stuff, and I like you too much for you to be disappointed in the end 'cause I can't do what they can in the movies."
