Fenny rode his wing up to the table before hopping onto Arpy's mane and snuggling up to it. Starry tool out another kibble pellet from her bag and tossed it above the phoenix, who easily caught it.

Once Starry heard his say that they would begin flying after lunch she threw her hooves into the air.

"WOOOoooo....oooohhhaaaa!!! " she yelled as the chair she was on lost its balance and fell back. Starry handed on the floor behind her with a thud and moaned.

"Ughhh.... I.... I'm alright. But we can still begin after lunch right? " she asked arpy as she got out from under the chair and stood up.

Arpi chuckled. "Good to hear you're alright. We can indeed; I'm not that great a teacher on this kind of subject but I'll do my best." He ate his lunch, occasionally petting the phoenix nestled in his mane with his wingtip.

Starry set the chair upright again and sat down in it, careful not to do anything that would topple her over again. She looked at Fenny. The bird seemed to be enjoying his time in Arpy's mane. Every time he was pet by Arpy's wingtip he let out a small purr. Starry smiled, glad they were getting along.

"Honestly, I'm just glad you're willing to teach. " she replied.

Arpi had to admit that he enjoyed having the bird there; the warmth was very nice. "It's no trouble, really. Happy to help."

He finished his meal and drink before much longer and got up from the table. "Shall we go?" He walked outside, looking to find a nice open area.

Fenny continued to stay in Arpeggio's mane throughout lunch. Every once in a while, Starry would toss him a treat and he would catch it. One time, he missed and it fell right into Arpeggio's food. Fenny began staring at it.

"Right! Let's go then. " she told him, hoping he didn't notice that in the scraps of his food lay a kibble pellet.

The pegasus hadn't noticed as he'd finished eating before then. He had been finishing up his juice. As he went, he stretched a bit, remembering what he did from when his parents helped teach him to fly. "Alright... This looks good." He stopped in a nice open space; there was plenty of cushion should she fall. "To start, just stretch your wings out, alright?"

Starrywalked over to Arpeggio, streching her wings during whilst she did, and yawned a bit. After meals she usually got tired, but that was no excuse to stop now. She had a mentor willing enough to even show her the basics of flight. That was something she was truly grateful for.

"Already done sir! Im ready." she replied

"Alright." He nodded and began inspecting her wings. "Don't mind this; I'm just taking a look to make sure there's nothing wrong with the structure or joints or anything."

After a little while, he stopped. "Alright, everything seems fine. I want you to flap them for a little bit; don't try to take off." He stepped back so he could watch.

Starry wgot slightly nervous as Arpeggio inspected her wings. She wasnt used to another pony being so close to her, so she was slightly tensing up as he looked through her wings. Fenny even lifted his head and looked on as Starry just stood there, confused as to shy she wsnt running, before putting his head back down and snuggling up into the silky mane he was covered in. Thankfully, there was nothing wrong with Starry's wings, as she had taken good care of her wings even though she couldnt use them.

"I dont think i could take off even if i tried... but alright." Starry told him. She then began flapping her wings, trying her hardest to lift herself off the floor, but with no actual sucess.

Arpi watched her as she did. "Mm... I think I might see part of the issue. A bit of it is in wing strength but that comes over time. The other part is technique; it seems to me that you're trying too hard in the wrong way and not getting the proper movement to get the lift necessary to take off."

Starry stopped after a bit, exhausted from her attempt at flying. She was used to it, however, as she usually tried to fly almost every day. Soon thereafter she folded her wings and looked down, just as Arpeggio began to speak.

"Then... How do I flap to fly? How to I move these to get off the ground? " she asked him.

"Okay... let's see." Arpi thought for a bit... before carefully adjusting the angle of her wings so they were angled forward just a bit. "Try now. I'm trying to find a good angle for your wings to get enough lift for your body."

Starry let Arpeggio touch her wings again. This time, however, she wasn't so tense and just let the motion happen. To Starry, it seemed like he was carefully adjusting them.... Oh so very careful.

"Mhm" she replied as she nodded. Starry flapped her wings again. However, this time, she barely lifted an inch off of the ground, but only after some effort.

"Okay... that's a good start." He re-adjusted her wings at more of an angle. "This should be ideal for now. You will likely need to build up your wing strength, which may take some time, but this should be the angle you'll need to get lift. Try again so we can make sure." He smiled.

The third time, she barely moved at all, used to him by now. Starry knew he wasnt going to harm her, but was careful just in case when she met new ponies. She let him adjust her wings carefully.

"O... Okay" she replied. Starry then began flapping her wings, trying to get off the ground. Slowly, she began gaining some height, untill she got tired out and fell to the ground again, exhausted.

"H...how did i do?" she asked him.
