It had been a long journey thus far with years of travel across Equestria. His travelling companion, Starry Fire, had been with him almost without interruption during such time. Now Starborne found himself in Ponyville, while Starry was out getting flight lessons from some older pegasus. Starborne had visited the nice little town before and enjoyed his stay, though it offered little for him. The library was occupied by somepony he had never met and when he had attempted to visit to come see the collection of books there the resident was gone. After asking about it at the cafe he liked to eat at he was told that the inhabitant of the house was out running some errand with her friends or so and to try again later. Instead Starborne sought out a local book store, luckily finding one.

All those years ago he had bought a few books that he had not read before from Full Circle's book store. Their first meeting was formal and brief and Starborne had luckily caught himself mid-word when saying "Miss" and said "Mister" when greeting him. Now back in Ponyville Starborne had decided that the shop would make for a good first stop. The town had seemingly changed very little, even with a war going on. Given its distance from Equestrian borders, it had little to worry about with the war. Starborne soon found the book store, exactly where it was originally. Walking inside he looked around for the owner. "Good morning." he greeted the first pony he saw.

Circle had been spending most of his days within the Book Store, sequestered away from the rest of the world. On the rare occasions that he did go out, it would simply be to retrieve Sphere, who had gone running off somewhere, or to collect some fresh loaves of bread early in the morning, when other ponies weren't out and about. On this day however, it seemed as though somepony was going to come to him, much to his mild irritation. He was in no mood for new customers.

The customer that walked through the door and greeted him wasn't new, however. He'd been there once, years ago, before even the Elements of Harmony were first activated. Even though so much time had passed, the Book Store had few enough actual customers for him to justify remembering the name and face of each and every one of them. He put on his professional face for the storefront, and smiled at the white unicorn.

"Good morning to you as well, Starborne. It's been quite some time since you've been in Ponyville, if I'm not mistaken."

Starborne was taken aback by the mention of his name. Now looking upon the store owner from before, he had a distinct memory of the stallion. This memory, however, was of how quick he was to append "ter" to his title when he first met him. "Ahh Mister... Circle as it was! It has been a very long time, years in fact. I must have made quite the impression. How have things been here in Ponyville since I have been gone? What with this nasty war business and all..." he stated. Starborne had been largely unaffected by the war, though he knew to keep his travel plans within the borders of Equestria, hence why he was in Ponyville from the start. He was genuinely surprised that Full Circle had remembered his name and Starborne had truly struggled to remember his.

Ah, it was good to see that he'd remembered that Circle was a stallion. Too many ponies that didn't already really know him made that mistake far more often that he'd like. His smile became a bit more genuine at the unicorn's words, and he allowed himself to calm down a bit, before hearing that small mention of the war. His nerves tensed back up at the thoughts of what it had meant for him since it'd first started.

"Y-yes, well the Book Store doesn't exactly get too many customers. Not since that new librarian arrived eight years ago..." He shook his head slightly at the thought. Twilight Sparkle, inadvertently ruining his business by lending out all the books for free... "I do well to remember the name and face of everyone who walks through those doors with the intent to purchase."

He trotted back from the main lobby to behind the main desk, looking back at Starborne. "So, what can I do for you today then? In for a book, perhaps?"

It had taken Starborne a moment to understand who Full Circle was speaking, soon realizing he had meant the resident that was not around during his last visit. The mention of a book seemed to catch his attention better, though. "Always. If I recall correctly I last purchased a book on astronomy from you. A great read, I still use the stars for navigation at night to find where I am and where I'm going. I never feel lost during clear nights." he explained with a polite smile. He almost forgot that he had been asked a question with the talk of stars. "Have you any new books since my last visit?" he asked. The last he could remember of book purchases here was that he had also bought a few books that he had never seen before. Oddly he later sold the books to the inn where he was staying, after copying their paraphrased content into his journal. He only travelled with one book normally so buying books was always a secondary option to going to libraries. This time, however, he thought it best not to chance visiting the library once more.

He moved to stand behind the counter and began to look upon the various books in the store. His eyes were set to find any titles he did not recognize or offered some non-fiction topic to learn about.

Remembering customers, and remembering a customer's exact order were two very different things. It was entirely possible that he'd bought a book on astronomy when last he visited, and Circle was glad to hear that it'd been put to good use. He chuckled a bit when Star asked if he had any new books in. "Well, it's been nearly four years since you last set hoof in here. If I didn't have a single new book, I could hardly call this place, a business, hm?"

Circle trotted out from behind his desk, actually happy to have some sort of customer. It might help him take his mind off of other things. "I'd like to get a chance to know a bit about you before I offer up some books though. It'll help me sort through what I have to see what you might like. What is it that you've been doing for these years since last we met?"

Starborne's polite smile seemed to grow a bit as Full Circle even mentioned a close estimate of when he last visited. He thought for a moment of the time when he was last in Ponyville, finding his statement close enough. With the years of travel it was hard to keep track of dates most of the time. Starborne looked around the room at the various books in the store once more. "Travelling! I've taken airship, boat, train and my worn hooves to most of the cities and nations bordering Equestria in the time I've been gone. I've visited the libraries of any city that held one along the way and have spent equal time reading as I have travelled if not more. The world is a fantastic one that we live in." he stated, seeming to ramble on as he read the various titles of the books still. Then he looked at Full Circle and gave a quick smile. He realized that his explanation would probably infer that he would like books on travel, books themselves or maps. While those things were certainly interesting, they would only show a few facets of Starborne's knowledge.

"Well if you've the time Mister Circle would you care to join me for a meal at the local cafe? They've a wonderful cinnamon bread and vegetable sandwich that they call the 'Garden Sub'. Or at least they did during my last visit. We can catch up over a cup of tea." he stated with his common polite smile.

Traveling, hm? He'd been quite the traveler too one he was younger, but it was likely far different for Starborne. He'd grown up in a different time, back when the Crystal Kingdom was first around, and known a different time altogether. The culture shock when the Kingdom reappeared couldn't have been an easy one to adjust to, but Starborne seemed to have done just that, just fine.

He was preparing to list off a few books that the unicorn may have found interesting when he was invited out to lunch. Out...outside of the Book Store, in the middle of the day. Circle was prepared to politely decline the offer, but Star's mention of 'cinnamon bread' caught his interest. He did have an absolute love of bread, and some fresh air probably wouldn't kill him...

"I...suppose I could be persuaded to leave the Book Store for a short while. It's not as though I ever get customers, outside of the rare one, like yourself. One moment, please." He trotted back over to the main desk, and wrote up a quick little note, explaining to Wild where he'd gone, in the event that she came back home from work before he returned. With a quick flash of his horn, his saddlebags appeared at his sides, held on his back by some straps. The unicorn made his way toward the front door. "If we're going to be off, let's go then. After a bit more of a talk, finding the right book for you should be simple enough."

Starborne sat idly with a smile on his face while he waited for Full Circle to return. He felt right at home with the many shelves of books surrounding him. He spied a few titles that he had not heard of before and plenty of books that he had remembered reading. Given his latest job had left quite a few extra bits in his coin-pouch he was looking to collect several of the more unique books he saw. Once Full Circle had returned, he led the way out of the Bookstore. "Books." Starborne stated, as if correcting him. "I'll certainly be buying many." he stated with his polite smile still apparent.

As they walked, Starborne spotted the saddlebags Full Circle had and the straps that held them his side. "Ahh, I've something similar." he noted, lifting his cloak for a moment to reveal the secure harness which held his low-profile saddlebags to his side. One might even assume that Starborne was only a bit thick around the sides. He led the way across town to a local cafe near the center. Two very professional waiters collected orders from the customers and the place featured both inside and outside seating. Given today's rather agreeable weather, Starborne opted to sit at a table outside.

Once they sat down a waiter soon approached and placed two menus down before the two. Starborne ordered a 'Garden Sub' and a glass of milk and smiled when the waiter wrote it down, knowing that it still existed on the menu after years of his absence. He stared at the menu for a moment longer to see if there was anything new before handing it back to the waiter. The waiter then looked at Full Circle and asked him for what he wished to order.

Circle nodded at Starborne's correction of saying that he'd be getting multiple books. Such a thing was to be expected, if the unicorn's last visit here was of any reminder. Somepony traveling, as Starborne did, tended to like having reading material for the downtime at night, when not out exploring or seeing the sights. He secretly longed for such a life again, but knew that those days were gone. He had a family to look after now.

He followed Star out of the Book Store, and into the streets, looking around uneasily. Ponies were out en masse at this hour, and that meant that they could see him. All of them, no doubt hiding some sort of sinister ulterior motives underneath their sunny and happy exterior. None of them could be trusted so long as his family lived here. Circle finally snapped out of his paranoia for a moment upon reaching the cafe. His hopes for sitting inside at a secluded location were shut down by Star, however, who opted to sit outside in the sun.

The orange unicorn looked at the waiter that was taking their order. It reminded him of Manehattan. Of ponies he could trust, at least for the moment. With a quick ordering of the rose petals on cinnamon bread that he'd mentioned to Star before leaving the Book Store, he turned back to that very unicorn, his uneasiness in the location apparent. "S-so, catching up. Yes. I've come across a family since last we met. A nice Earth pony, named Wild Side. I also have twin foals, Moon Speaker and Sphere Stalker. What of you? Any new family or friends of note?"

The waiter was gone the moment Full Circle had placed his order, off to see that the orders were made properly. Starborne had paid little mind to the waiter just as he was to the other minor details of the day. Instead he busy looking around and seeing the various ponies and taking in the relatively nice day. Once Full Circle spoke he soon gained his undivided attention. Not a pony with great social experience, Starborne had missed even the more obvious signs that Full Circle was nervous. His polite smile never leaving he nodded as Full Circle spoke and thought about the concept of family. His family sounded nice, though Starborne had never given much thought to the idea of starting a family. At least, not yet he hadn't. At his young age he figured that he would have plenty of time to worry about that later if the idea still appealed to him. He had the passing fancy of a nice mare between cities sometimes, but never anything serious.

"No, no family to speak of yet. I have met Starry Fire who has been my travelling companion and assistant for the last few years. She's still young and naive, though, but often compensates for my shortcomings. She's away for now. I've made friends in several cities of interest throughout Equestria and beyond and we keep in contact through letters. It becomes difficult to maintain any sort of serious relationship with travel involved, however. What with current events, travel has been restricted so I've decided to stay around Ponyville or Canterlot for time being." Starborne explained. The thought of how truly limited travel was during the war reminded him of how close the battle lines were being drawn. He quickly cast the thought away and decided to interrupt the idea with another question. "How has business been? I hope I'm not too significant of a customer." Starborne asked with a slight chuckle.

Traveling around did seem to be the only thing that Spellbound did, outside of his scholarly studies as he went along. It made sense for one like him to want to travel around and take in the world since they'd been away from it for so long. It was a shame that he couldn't have seen Zebrica before this war started occuring. It really was a beautiful place. Honestly probably still was, as there hadn't been any direct attacks at the heart of it, to his knowledge. Still, he didn't think that they'd take kindly to any Equestrians at the current time.

"Starry Fire, you say? Can't say I'm at all familiar with that name. Maybe we'll meet at some point, if you stick around town l-long enough." And there he went, starting to shake with anxiety again. "But yes, your business will be the first that I've received all month, and only about the dozenth customer this year. I daresay that your visit is very significant, if not to just give me somepony to t-talk to."

The same waiter from before arrived at the table and placed the two unicorns' meals down before them and was gone without a second to spare after. The waiter was off to greet two new ponies who were sitting down and Spellbound just assumed that they were rather busy during the lunch hour. Taking up his sandwich with levitation he paused for a moment to speak. "Well I am happy to offer friendly conversation at your convenience, Mister Circle. My social hours are few and far between the time I spend on the road, reading books or practicing my trade." he stated before taking a bite of his sandwich. The sandwich reminded him of the last time he was in Ponyville years ago and he reminisced in the thought for a moment, completely missing any clues of Full Circle's anxiety again.

Circle bit into the bread that he'd ordered to distract himself from his social anxiety. It actually was fairly good, even by his usual high standards of judging bread. He made a mental note to come back here more often and buy this sort of thing in bulk so that he wouldn't have to leave his home. "Friendly conversation with a like-minded unicorn could be...nice. I'm afraid that my family isn't much of one for intellectual pursuits, no matter how I try to enforce that sort of thing."

Spellbound's half-eaten sandwich hovered low over his plate and he swallowed, clearing his mouth of his current bite of food. "That's quite surprising, given that your family would have free access to a library. While I would make claims to being well-traveled, books have taken me to far more interesting of places at times. Imaginatively speaking, of course. Though everypony has their own unique preference in entertainment. Perhaps, should I find a suitable place to stay in Ponyville for the while, I might introduce myself to your family. After our business for today I plan to seek out the local apartments to rent, if any are available during such trying times." he explains before taking another bite of his meal. Now that he thought about it, Ponyville may just be full in its residency, with such a safe distance from Equestria's currently contested borders and proximity to Canterlot. It made an ideal place for other ponies to live and he knew he wouldn't be the first pony to stroll into the village looking for a place to stay for war-related reasons.
