Arael sat on a low-flying cloud just above town square. She had absolutely nothing planned for this day, which was odd for her, considering she usually had every day planned in advance, whether it be for training, or running errands. She didn't want to do either, however, as it would mess with everything she had already planned out.
And it wasn't like she could go pleasure shopping, considering she only lived off of her good friend Seraph's generosity. Sure, he made enough to feed at least ten of himself, but that didn't justify Arael mooching from it for her and her "additions", her adopted children. She stood and fluttered down from the cloud to the ground, just watching the ponies pass by here and there. Her scarlet mane flowing in the light breeze.

Spellbound had been in Ponyville only a few days now, having rented out Full Circle's spare bedroom for a place to stay. He had purchased several books by now and read through all but one. That last book now sat behind a counter, being read by Spellbound himself as he stood at a market stall. The stall itself was one not far from the center of the town and loaded with various trinkets. The trinkets would seem like an odd assortment, nothing really matching another. There random metal tablets that shone like mirrors, rings with gems, tiny megaphones attached to a box and even a common ball that children would play with. There were a few quirky devices amongst the display that certain ponies, unicorns more likely, would recognize like magical batteries and capacitors. Yes Spellbound had found himself in the need to make a quick bit again so he was out selling the products of his trade.
He would have had more customers if he could just stop reading the book he had, though. One customer had managed to snag his attention after calling out to him wanting to purchase a constantly-spinning gyroscope. One sale down, he now had enough bits to probably pay for tomorrow's dinner. That thought slipped into his mind amidst the reading of the book and he came to realize that he needed to focus on the task at hand. As hard as it was, he forced the book closed and looked out at the ponies in Ponyville. Many of them seemed busy and he didn't want to interrupt them. Then again he may just have to in order to make his business known. It was work like this that made him realize why, for as good as he was at his trade, he would never succeed financially.
He stepped out from behind his stall and scanned the pedestrians as they moved about. He soon caught sight of somepony that seemed to stand out from the rest. She seemed to wander about and without a general direction, nothing really in mind, which was different than the other ponies around. But this was not what had truly caught his attention. No, this one seemed different for a reason he would fail to describe, something that just seemed captivating. She was a pegasus of pure white, blue eyes and a scarlet mane with white accents. She was not there a moment ago when he had looked and while the method of her arrival was obvious, he was lost for any idea on where she came from. His brain failed to function as it normally did, but he strangely paid it no mind.
He took a few stops off towards her. He wanted to talk to her. Nay, he had to talk to her, to find out who she was. 'Wait Spellbound! Focus!' his conscious called out to him. He shook his mind and then continued to approach her with a polite smile. "Good afternoon ma'am! You seem like a pony who might put an enchanted device to good use. Diaries that only reveal their words to the writer, music boxes, rings of cloudwalking--" he began to say, advertising his goods. His brain interrupted him on the last product, reminding him of who he was talking to. "Err, well, perhaps I might not interest you in that last one... Uhh I am Spellbound, traveller and enchanter extraordinaire! Could I interest you in something worth your while today?" he asked her, trying to recover from his speech blunders.

Arael turned to the unicorn stallion that had addressed her. He was trying to advertise his enchanted wares from the sound of it. The Pegasus herself was no stranger to enchanted items, her personal favorite being her sapphire wingblades that were currently at home. "Oh, let me see." She said, looking over to his stall.

Spellbound's ears perked up and he shone with a suppressed excitement, happy to finally catch another customer, and a pleasant one at that. He did not know her, yet he felt the need to open up in casual conversation with her. He tried to control himself as he resisted the urge, his mind telling him to act normaly and stay on task. "Ahh yes, well I must thank you in advance for your time." he said while walking over towards his stall. 'Why because you'll waste it? Focus! Sell something nice to her! No, useful!' his mind went off at him. He was a tad bit nervous for reasons he could not currently describe, but decided to keep going.
"Well what could you find useful? I've got this tracker here. Simply hang this device somewhere you will not forget it and place this magic sticker on something you lose often. Then just activate the device and it will help make a sound based on how close the sticker is." he said, holding up a simple tiny metal box with a button on it. "Or-or this one, a diary that shall tell none of its contents until a word of your choosing is spoken to it. There are other possibilities, such as requiring a key." he explained, stammering a bit.
'Stop acting like a fool. What is wrong?' he thought but kept up his polite smile. He was fighting a confusing battle inside as he attempted to keep focus. He spotted another one of his more popular enchanted items and retrieved it, holding it out. "This device in particular is a common and useful enchanted item, which will record sound for as long as you hold the button and then play the sound it has recorded upon a single press of the button again. Many musicians take interest in these devices to trade their songs or advertise their fine art." he stated. After a moment pause he shook his head. "Oh but where are my manners? I should seek to find a device that will aid you! May I ask what you do? Perhaps your name if you'd be so kind?" he asked her. She seemed like the type of mare to be kind, or so one side of Spellbound's mind told him.

Arael smiled at the selection at first, but soon noticed the 'salespony' stumbling over every other word. She gave him a raised brow, questioning his professionalism. The mention of the device that recorded sound caught her interest. She could use such a device for the children... If se could afford it, that is...
"What do I do?" That was a good question. What DID she do? "Well, I guess you could call me a... 'Stay-at-home mom'?" She said "I don't really have a JOB to speak of..."

Spellbound took a moment to collect himself and quickly thought of things that might interest her. He had failed to gather her name, though her occupation was not the first he had heard of. It was a full-time job, truly, though its payment came in different forms. "Ahh, well I've just the item." he stated, setting the sound recorder down. He reached behind the stall and pulled out a rather new broom that seemed to have a rather intricate carving throughout the handle. "Cleaning is often a time-consuming task. This broom with two taps--" he said before tapping the handle twice. The broom stood up straight on its own and began sweeping around the stall. "Will make this broom sweep whatever room it is in, collecting the dirt into an orderly little pile." he explained. The broom carried on for a moment as it creating a tiny dirt mound, as sweeping the outside would do nothing but provide dirt. With two taps of his hoof upon the broom handle it stopped and he set it against the stall.
"I also have a device that cleans dishes, another that plays soothing, relaxing music or even linked pieces of paper to write to somepony else. Enchanting is what you can imagine and make happen. What might assist you in your day?" he asked finally. He was hoping that at least something would interest her, as he strangely found himself wanting to hear her speak. He also found himself more eager to help her than he did the average customer he would get.

Arael watched as Spellbound showed her each device. While all of these doohickeys were nice, they just seemed to 'housewife-ish' for her. Clearly she had made a poor choice of words. "I don't think those are quite what I need." She said, looking back to the device that recorded sound. "But, I could maybe use that one for Mono..." she thought out loud.
"What am I saying? I can't afford by of that." she admitted. A disappointed frown seeping in.

A smile came to his face once Spellbound believed that he had a potential sale. The enchanter was not the greatest at advertising his goods, so any sale was one he would gladly take. However her next statement soon crushed his hopes of any profit. Her words lingered in his mind for a moment and he was soon to dismiss the subject, but something wasn't right. She was a stay-at-home-mom without the funds to bring something home to her child? 'No! This will not stand!' Spellbound thought as he soon wore his polite smile once more. "Well ma'am, if you've need of funds perhaps I might aid in that situation." he spoke, though he had failed to think before he did. 'Halt! Do not give her money, that is a temporary solution! What was I thinking?' he thought, at conflict with his words. "I err, could offer you a job, if you've the time." he stated.
'A job? What do I know of business? I can't handle employeess!' he paniced, though quickly tried to remedy the situation he had started. "Eh you see ma'am I am a horrible business man and cannot handle..." he began, wanting to lead the conversation to avoid hiring anypony. Then again, the idea made sense for a moment. He could hire her to sell his goods! He was bad with sales, but took pride in the quality of his work. She seemed nothing but friendly and at least sociable for the moment he had to speak with her. So what truly was the worst that could happen? "Sales. I am a bad salespony. I can create a solution to almost any problem except advertising it seems. Perhaps you would be interested in helping me with my business for a percentage of the income?" he explained.

A job? How did Arael's day out turn into an interview? Although, it was an attractive prospect. She was, after all, just thinking about this very subject. However, there was a small issue. "Oh, I've never tried sales before." She said. She didn't exactly get her cutiemark, two crossed swords behind a blue shield, for her ability to advertise.
"I could give it a try though. If you really want to give me a shot at it."

"Indeed I would! A try is all I ask. All that I'd like is to sell a few of my wares today. Perhaps you could help to advertise them?" he said. His mind once again rebelled with his feelings as he wondered if he was even handling being a proper businesspony. "Of course I'd recommend looking over my wares and understanding what some of them do. Just imagine anything that you could do to enchant a device and I'll tell you whether or not I can fix it or not. Perhaps, if you have claimed Ponyville as your residence for some time now, you may know a pony or two with problems that I might help to solve. I pride myself as being a solution engineer." he stated with a smile. He was hoping, given his explanation, Arael might have a good idea on what she needed to do.
"If nothing else, pique the interest of others and I shall speak with them, hopefully to earn a sale or two." he explained, his perky smile never leaving his face.
