It was a rather normal day in ponyville, ponies walking around and enjoying their buisness as usual despite the thread of war at their doorstep. One such pony, a pegasus filly to be exact, was enjoying her buisness as usual, except she had none. Starry had already spent the meager amount of bits she had for supplies to make some snacks for her pet, who seemed to be flying high above the city. Starry sighed, she would make his snacks later, when she wasnt so bored. Making food was a rather unamusing activity for her. Sure it gave its rewards when a meal was completed with care, but Starry lacked the skill to create such a thing. The only food she could make were out of leaves, grass, random berries, and insects. Of course, to a forest pony who had spent a majority of her life among the trees, and the rest of it in a library, that was all she would need.

It was somewhere in ponyville that Starry had an interesting thought. She had traveled across Equestria and had spent every second she could in a city or town's library. It occured to her that she had not yet visited the library in Ponyville. Such a thought she found rather unerving, epecially since the few books in her saddlebags were nearing their conclusions or climaxes. Starry resolved, since she had so much time to kill, to find the library of Ponyville and check out a book, possibly strike up a conversation with its caretaker. Starry viewed library's highly, and their caretakers with even more respect.

It took her around a half an hour, but she eventually located a library in Ponyville. It was an interesting place, located within a tree. 'I must be in heaven or something... This is great.' she thought to herself. Starry then whistled for Fenny to come down, but she didnt see nor hear the bird, so Starry figured that he was probably hunting or doing whatever he does when he flies off. Starry walked up to the library, opened the foor, and looked inside.

"Hellooooo? Anyone around?"

Twilight Sparkle was up in her room reading up on a magical anomaly that was happening in their neighbor to the north, Noveria. Apparently, this place was the origin of all ponykind, the place that was highlighted in the stories told on Hearth's Warming Eve. It had a strange place in the world, a whole land stuck in an eternal winter with a natural climate and geology that wouldn't suggest that behavior. The book she was reading suggested that it was left over from the Windigoes and their hate fueled magics, but there wasn't enough evidence in this book to suggest that was written was the undeniable truth.

Upon finishing the chapter she was on, Twilight grabbed hold of a quill and some paper with her magic and wrote down a quick note, "Find safe passage to the North, research required."

After the note was finished, a voice could be heard downstairs, one that she had not heard before in the Library. She marked her book and closed it before trotting downstairs, "Welcome to the Ponyville Library," she said when she was about halfway down the stairs, "Can I help you with anything?"

Starry was taking a look at a few nearby books laid out on a table. they were an interesting bunch, all of which dealt with magical theory. While they werent a particularly important topic for Starry, since she had no way to actually perform magic, she decided to pick up the first book and begin readong it. It was some rather old tome titled "The Ebb and Flow of Magic" by some rather obscure name. Starry just started reading it, not really caring about the subject, when somepony came down and asked whether or not she could help with anything.

Starry figured that this pony must be the librarian. She looked like a rather typical librarian by the way she held herself, a stature somewhat common among librarians. That meant that this was, in fact, tha librarian. "Ah yes! I was wondering if you had any really good books in stock, anything really. Ive been traveling around lately and ive been running low on stuff to read." Starry explained as she took out three large tomes from her saddlebags. One was about myth, another about plantlife and nature, and the third was about geography.

Twilight looked at the books that the other pony brought out of their bag, "Ah," she said as she picked up the book about myths. The binding was worn to the point where Twilight could no longer read the title, but a quick scan of the first page revealed it to be 'Saddle Arabian Nights.' She smiledas she handed the book back to the other pony, "Well," she said as she started walking around the library, "I see you've got an interest in myths and legends. That's actually one of my favorite subjects as well and I've got plenty of books from all over the world that can really satiate that hunger for a good story told by some of the best storytellers this world has ever known."

She grabbed onto a book titled 'Myths and Legends: the Complete Series Volume One.' Twilight walked back over to the other pony and handed her the book, "This has stories from all around the world all jam packed into one awesome book, and the best thing is, once you finish reading this one there are 5 more volumes ready for you to dig into."

Starry's already large smile turned into a toothy grin. "Really" Oh wow! That's great!" she exclaimed happily. Myths and Legends, especially the ones that included long stories, were among the filly's favorite things to read. Starry opened the book immediately to take a look at the table of contents. It was a list of legends and myths from some of the oldest recorded sections of history, something that excited her immensely.

'I wonder what it says on phoenixes?' she thought to herself. It wasn't like it was a thought out of the clear blue sky, as Starry's friend Fenny was a phoenix. They had been together almost all their lives and she had conducted many different tests to see what parts of the legend were true and what parts weren't just as a side hobby. Starry began to scroll down the page, looking for the word 'Phoenix'. However, this volume didn't have that particular legend.

Starry turned back to the librarian, ready with another request. "Um... excuse me miss librarian, but you wouldn't happen to know which of the six volumes have the legend of the phoenix inscribed inside it would you? I know you mentioned that you're fan of myths, and i just was wondering how the lore would match up to some experience." she explained.

Twilight turned back to her guest as she asked about the Legend of the Pheonix, "Volumes two, five, and six all have stories about Pheonixes," she said as she pointed to where the other volumes could be found on the shelves, "I've also got a few volumes on the modern day study of Pheonixes as well as some wonderful books illustrating exotic and magical beings from celestial beasts to windigoes," Twilight said as she motioned to where all of those volumes could be found before walking over to her desk and writing down some information about her visitor.

Starry jumped up and down in a fit of glee. "Wonder full wonderful!" she exclaimed. "I bet it would take me a whole year to read all of them! I cant wait to start!" Starry looked at the librarian as she pointed out several volumes of text along the walls. Starry wasted no time in trying to grab them all and placed them careful down on the table in the front. She immediately began searching all of the volumes for phoenix lore, and succeed in finding several sections dedicated to phoenixes. This was all wonderful, as Starry had never really gotten her hooves any any exact studies on phoenixes, just field work and old legends.

Suddenly it hit her. This librarian didn't seem to mind her coming in and looking at all the books... So maybe she wouldn't mind Fenny, her friend and pet phoenix, coming in and doing the same. He may have been a bird, but he did enjoy pictures.

"Say... would you mind if i bring my friend in here? miss...ummm...." she fumbled to remember the librarians name, but she didn't know it. "What was your name again madam?
