Seven months... Seven long months of absolutely nothing. South had wandered across Equestria, searching high and low for anyone that knew him, in vain. No pony in Equestria knew his name, nor recognized who he was. It was like he had suddenly appeared out of nowhere, something that freaked him out. Where did he come from? Who was his family? Those were the questions that bothered him was he once again visited the humble town of ponyville.
He had already been here several times before, all of which were quaint little times where he had met a few ponies and even got on friendly terms with a few of them. However, the majority of ponies usually stayed away fro him, probably due to the two giant swords that were sheathed on his back. To the far off viewer, they seemed ornamental and probably useless in a fight...but south knew better. he had dealt with wolves in several areas across the country, and knew that not only were his swords lighter than most, but also had two V-shaped hooks on them for grabbing and tearing. They made good swords, and even better hooks. Yet, they were cumbersome and dangerous to the unknowing onlooker, though south would never hurt a fly unless it outright attacked him, and even then he would try to run...
The swords were sheathed in two sheaths made from trash and vines, both of which looked like they were about to break yet somehow held the weight of his swords. He would need to make some new ones eventually, but that could wait until they broke. To be completely honest, he didn't know why he had to carry them anyways. they made ponies run off... and South didn't like that. He enjoyed talking and being friendly with others. However, his swords made him look like a bruiser and most normal ponies just ran off when they saw them. South had tried to get rid of them a couple of times, but whenever he placed them down more than 100 yards away, he got a horrible migraine. It was almost too coincidental to be true, almost as if something didn't want him to let the swords go, but South dismissed that thought as silly.
"Another day... another walk. Hopefully this one will actually have an ending other than me going to sleep on some tree." South mused to himself before looking up. "Please...whatever's up there, mind giving me something to do? Maybe even the rest of my memory back?" The sky didn't answer him, but he didn't expect an answer. Seven long months of looking up and asking the sky for things did little but make him despair that he really was alone. Of course, it didn't help that he had no memory and didn't know any better BUT to ask the sky. South sighed and continued his walk on the edge of Ponyvile, still seven months into whatever he could remember and not a single step forward from where he had begun.

"LOOK OUT!" Came a voice abruptly as a log came flying across South's face, missing him by inches and shattering against a tree.
"Omigoshomigoshomigosh! I'm so sorry, Sir!" Arael said frantically as she rushed from the small clearing she'd been using as a training area. There were an assortment of small logs laid about the area. She was practicing some new techniques that she'd been developing for some time, but hadn't quite perfected yet. This was an area that didn't have much traffic, so it made a great spot not to be interrupted. Or so she thought.
"Are you alright?! I didn't hit you did I?" She asked, her silver and gold armor clinking softly with her movement.

South was suddenly jerked out of thought by a randomlog that just barely missed his face. "WJASDHJSDC" he yelled as he jumped back, completely taken by surprise. Apparently he wasn't alone near the outskirts of ponyville. "What the hay..." he spoke to himself, before noticing the pegasus nearby who seemed to be freaking out about him getting hurt. Really? Ponies cared that much about others? This was certainly a surprise to him. South shook his head, as it was too much to take in.
"Gah... no I'm not hurt." he replied. " What was that anyways? That thing almost took my head off there! Haha!"

Arael wiped her brow in relief and sighed. "Oh thank goodness." She said. It would have been a tragedy if she'd managed to hurt this passerby. "I apologize again! I was just training by myself. I should have been paying more attention."

"Ah that's fine. " South replied, now finally coming out of the 'WTF' moment that had happened a few moments ago. "That's the most exciting thing that's happened to me in months!" he exclaimed before thinking.
"No my bad.. that's probably the most exciting thing I've ever seen, nearly dying! HAHA." he remarked. Though, there was something he wanted to ask her. That word...'training'... he had never heard it before. South only wondered what it meant. "Er...training? Sorry I'm not familiar with that word." he apologized.

Exciting wasn't the word that Arael would have used, but she was glad to see he was ok all the same. She blinked at his question, but then she thought that perhaps this pony was a foreigner. That would probably be why he didn't understand the word.
"Oh, you know, just practicing. Making my skills better through repetitive motion. Training."

South scratched his head, wrapping it around the concept. "Yeah... training... heh, i should try that sometime." he replied. South had never trained with his swords, as ever skill he had with them was all instinct. in a sense, he didn't need to train, as he technically already knew how to use his swords by heart.
"Err... how exactly do you train? Im... not too sure" he asked while unsheathing his swords with magic. "Mind if you show me?"

"Show you?" Arael said. "Oh, I don't know. I was working on a technique I've been trying to perfect for a while now." She left her wings open a bit, starting to show her weapon of choice, wingblades. The base appeared to be made of silver, connected by small bolts of riveted gold. The assembly was decorated with a wavy design etched into the metal, clearly the work of a master metal-worker. The blades themselves were that of flawless sapphire that ran down the length of the base as two solid pieces that broke at the joint of the wing.
Anyone who knew anything about metal and gemstones would know that such a setup wouldn't normally make an effective weapon. Which was why Arael had the piece enchanted long ago when she had first received it so that it would not break or shatter. And it matched her armor as well, being silver with gold molded into fancy designs.

'Okay... assume that 'technique' is some form of training. Maybe I can get her to show me.' South though to himself. Had South known anything about weapons or armor, he probably would have been awed by the pegasus' weapons and armor. However, South knew little about weapons and even less about armor.
"Oooo shiny. Where'd ya get something like that? All i got are these." South brought out his two swords in front of him. They were massive compared to a regular blades and much larger than her wingblades. The hilt had two outward curving V-shaped pieces as a hoofguard, but doubled up as 'hooks'. The hilt and blade were made of some unkown metal, but a few runes were clearly engraved on the blade. There was a decently sized jewel on the hilt, giving one of them a yellowish hue and one of them a darker hue.
"This is Day" he told her as he held up the yellowish sword. "...and this is Night. Mind showing me that technique thing? Id love to try it."

Arael took as step back. Those swords were pretty big. And the fact that this stranger just drew them, without even asking for a name, made her wonder wonder if this pony didn't have some sort of hidden intent. That he kept insisting on cutting into her training time only made her more weary of him.
"Sorry, but I prefer to train alone." She said, hoping that would be enough to make the stranger move on.

" Oh... sorry." he apologized. Everyone always wanted to be alone, away from him. Why then, did he always see ponies paired up if everyone always wanted to be alone though? it didn't make sense, at least to him it didn't. South re-sheathed his swords and sighed.
"Sorry for seeming threatening... this happens with everypony" he explained. He thought that everyone wanted to be away from his because of his swords, yet this pony had weapons of her own. It didn't make sense to him.
"Oh..sorry i forgot earlier....but whats your name? Mine's South."

Arael looked at "South", who had put his swords away, clearly being misunderstood. "Well, maybe you just lack... Certain social skills..." She said. She did assume he was a foreigner after all. Perhaps his customs were different where he came from.

"Well... Considering my life, I probably lack much more than just social skills.... Whatever those are. " he replied. "Most ponies just run away cuz of the swords on my back... I'd love to get rid of them one of these days... "

"Oh?" She said. "Well why don't you? I mean, if you want to so badly that is." It wasn't that hard of a prospect to understand. It was really as simple as sticking the swords in he ground and walking away. Or even taking them to a blacksmith and having them sold.

South sighed, knowing something she didn't. If he left the swords in the ground and walked away, he would get a massive migraine until he either retrieved the swords, or fell unconscious. Yet, nopony really seemed to get that but him.
".. Should I show you what happens if I walk away? "
