"Well here's your first advice about the world. Slow the hell down and think twice about what you're doing, ALWAYS." She told Cynder, pressing her own advantage.

"I'm not your friend here, yet. I'm your teacher. The world is a dangerous place outside of Canterlot. Lotsa things can kill you."

Cynder blinked. They weren't friends? She made a noise of disbelief. "What did you just say?" She couldn't believe it. Just who did this pony think she was? "I think YOU need to slow the hell down! Who the hell do you think you are acting like you know everything?! I don't need some pre-school kid telling me she's my teacher!"

Starry breathed in, and then out. If she was going to start a fight.... no, she wasn't. Starry didn't respond and instead gave Cynder a calm stare until she decided it was right to speak again, that is, when they mood calmed down a little.

"I said we weren't friends yet because we're just acquaintances. We just met each other. You can't just go around calling everypony you meet your friend. I'm sure we'll actually become friends on our journey though..." she told Cynder. "...or we'll learn to hate each other." she quickly joked at the end.

"...and frankly, when it comes to traveling, I don't. I just sound like I do because I keep giving advice to you."

"What's with you?!" Cynder interrogated. "Quit trying to act like an adult when you're just a kid! You don't just call someone who you've just spent the last week traveling with an 'acquaintance'! That's a FRIEND, dope! After all the time we spent getting to know each other, I thought you might feel the same way."

"You're wrong on one thing... I'm not a filly. No filly could have survived as long as I have in the real world, And I suggest you mare up. Calm down so we can talk...alright? Because.... you're right on that second point. I guess I don't really know friends. Fenny's great and all, but I don't really have many other friends...and I don't really know what this feeling you're talking about it." She explained.

Cynter huffed. "I think you're forgetting to give some credit to your Hex fellow." She said. She crossed her hooves, not to pleased with where this conversation had gone.

"I'm going to bed." She said, storming out of the tavern. She would be going to sleep angry and tipsy tonight.

Starry was silent until Cynder walked away. When Starry was sure that her partner was gone, she ordered another drink and downed it in seconds.

"I don't credit Hex with keeping me alive." She muttered to herself. I credit Hex with helping me truly live."

Starry waited an hour before going back to the room to try and talk with Cynder again, bringing some of her favorite food in an attempt to make up with her.

Cynder would already be laying down and asleep in her bed by the time that Starry had gotten there. And no amount of rousing would wake here this night.

The next morning

Cynder awoke with a long, drawn out yawn. She wiped her eyes and looked out the window at the town that was already busy with activity at this early hour.

Starry, seeing Cynder asleep and not having the heart to wake her, went to bed herself.

The next morning, Fenny was staring out the window from the windowsill to enjoy the view. Starry was still sleeping peacefully in the bunk.

Cynder blinked at Fenny and stretched all of her kinks out. The slid out of her bed and headed out of the room and downstairs. She walked through lower level, acknowledging the "howdy's" and "good mornin's" as she made her way to the door and out onto the wooden walkway for a breath of fresh air.

Fenny waited till Cynder was out of the room before he did anything. The Phoenix jumped right onto Starry and ruffled her mane and wings until she woke up. It took five minutes, but Starry soon groaned and got up, giving her friend a quick hug as she did so.

"Good morning to you too Fenny."

Starry then headed downstairs, feeling a bit awful from the prior night's events. She felt like she needed to make it up to Cynder, or at the very least apologize. She did see Cynder as a little more than an acquaintance, Yet felt that labeling her a friend would put her on the same level as Fenny and Hex, whom had both base raised her.

She didn't know what to do...and didn't see where she was going as she walked around outside.

Cynder was standing around, enjoying the cool morning air and first rays of the sun. Suddenly something bumped into her rear. She turned and saw Starry face to face with her.

"Oh... Morning..." She said halfheartedly.

Starry suddenly bumped into someone. She raised her head to apologize, but quickly realized that it was Cynder. Her usual confidence died, and she was left without words. The only thing she could manage was a simple 'Mornin', but other than that all she could do was look troubled.

"..." Well... This was... Awkward... Cynder didn't know what to say, but she felt kind of crummy after last night. There were a lot of words by both ponies that probably weren't meant. "I'm not gonna say I'm sorry, you know..."

Starry could have seen that coming, if she had been in a better state of mind. She was a morning pony, but she had slept in today, which had screwed up everything.

"I...I will... I'm sorry for what I said last night, about the whole...friend thing. I guess I was scared to put you on..." she started to talk but shook her head.

"No, c-can we go talk somewhere else?"
