Cynder nodded and led Starry over to the alley where they could be alone. "Look, I know you're not just a kid." She said before Starry could speak. "And I know you're better at this whole adventuring thing than I am, but I know a little more about the way the world works than you're giving me credit for. I may just be some city girl to you, but I never really felt at home in the city. Not as much as I ever did in the forests, or the caves, or the wide open fields."

Starry looked at Cynder and nodded at each point she made, carefully taking it into consideration. After all, she was alive right now. No regular pony would have gotten this far with her.
"Hah... you may never have felt right in the city. I grew up in the forests and mountains. Those are my home, not Haliflanks, where it's officially said that I was born. Ponies used to force me out of the city, so I never really got to learn the 'common' stuff that you all know, calling me a 'forest filly' and names like that. " Starry explained, a serious expression on her face, as if she was about to lecture Cynder.
"....though...on another note, I wasn't always like this, so stuck up and cold-headed. I was happy where I was, more happy than where I am now that is. I just with there wasn't any need to risk my life anymore, because that's where I get cold-headed and scared enough to be a stick in the mud." Starry explained, her usually calm and collected composure gone and replaced with a shy filly.

Cynder thought about Starry's change of tone. It seemed sincere. And it wasn't really her fault that she wasn't used to dealing with other ponies. "... I guess we both said stuff we didn't mean, huh?" She said.

"Oh no I meant everything... I won't deny that. I was trying to say what I thought was wrong with you so..." she stopped for a moment, debating on whether or not she should keep speaking.
"...so you'd be a better partner and f-...fr...." she couldn't bring herself to say friend just yet. The barrier of Hex was still in the way of her saying thata.

Cynder wanted to slap Starry silly for that. But she heaved a deep sigh and smiled as best she could. "Close enough." She said, patting Starry on the shoulder.

Starry nodded and smiled. "Y-yeah... though, I have a question. What were you trying to go after me and Hex for?" she asked earnestly, having no real experience in what shipping or anything more than a platonic relationships were. Though Starry did love to read, she tended to avoid Romance novels, as they weren't usually her type of book, instead preferring to read encyclopedias and mythological tales.

Cynder waved the subject off. "Ahhh, don't worry about it. Was just tryina poke fun is all." She said. "Come on, lets get the rest of the supplies for our trip." Cynder walked out of the alley and started back inside.

"I...don't get it." Starry tried to say, but her partner was already gone. Starry sighed and followed her, still having no idea what she was talking about by 'fun'. Wasn't fun supposed to be playing tag or chase in the forests? What kind of fun was she talking about? It was something that intrigued Starry. She needed to find out more sometime.
Starry walked all the way back to the room, where Fenny was still staring out the window. The bird seemed completely bored out of his skull, and only when Cynder entered the room seemed to get slightly happier, though probably at the fact that he now had somepony to annoy for fun. Fenny landed on her back soon afterwards.
"Caaaawwww!!!"

Cynder walked into the room and was immediately met with a large avian on her back. She rolled her eyes at Fenny and grabbed her vest, throwing it on in one fluid motion. If Denny got hit or knocked down it was his own fault. She then grabbed her new bags and strapped them on as well.

Fenny waited until the last possible moment before avoiding the inevitable jacket. He jumped back to avoid the jacket and skillfully landed on Cynder's back once again.
"Caaaaaawwwww!!!" He cried triumphantly, to the giggles of Starry.
"I think he likes you, or just likes screwing with you. "

Cynder glared at the Phoenix. "I wonder." She said forcefully. "So what do we need? Food, shelter. How much water do you think we should bring?"

Fenny did a little dance on Cynder's back, teasing her for her inability to get Fenny off. Starry notice Fenny's antics and giggled a little. He seemed to be enjoying himself, so she did nothing about it.
"Ah what to bring? I made a little list last night, after you went to bed." She told Cynder, reaching in to her saddlebags for a small note wedged in between two tomes. She gave it to Cynder for examination.

Cynder took the list and examined it. This would probably cut into their funds a bit, but that was alright, better they didn't have to carry a bunch of bits with them anyway. "Well, lets go to the trading post and see what we can get." She said returning the list to Starry and heading for the door.
