Cosmic pulled out his formal suit. "Oh it has been a while has it not." He stated to himself. Every summer Canterlot holds a convention to discuss the latest inventions and scientific discoveries. Problem was. it was canceled last year do to outside circumstances. All this meant was an even greater number of topics were going to be presented here from an even greater number of speakers and attendants. Cosmic does have his prototype of the magical energy conversion bracelet to show case for this expansion.
He dusted off the outfit and quickly put it on and stepped out his house and headed toward the convention hall at the University of Canterlot. They won the bid this year, like most years, to host such a prestigious convention. Cosmic adjusted his tie as well as his brief case with his prototype and notes with it.
A nice stroll later through the streets of Canterlot Cosmic arrived at the gates of the University of Canterlot. It was already busy with many students and other ponies streaming about coming in and out. Despite it being summer... with only a few summer classes being held, it was still a busy place all things considering. Comsic grinned at the sight. "Such younglings and their pursuit of knowledge."

Crimson Sunset strolled into the convention hall based in the University of Canterlot, enjoying the nice and breezy summer weather they were having. After hearing that they were having their annual get-together to discuss the newest and greatest scientific advances, he decided to pull a few strings with some of his contacts to get himself in as a guest speaker, to see if there were any ponies around that shared his particular set of ideals.
He'd sent off his two nurses to explore the convention, and report back to him if anypony, or any living being for that matter, would be of use to him for his future plans. One pony in particular caught his eye though. A blue earth pony stallion, eyeing up all the younger looking ones. He was likely some pony of importance. Crimson moved up next to the pony, adjusting his glasses and smiling.
"Good day, sir stallion. Might I presume you've been to these things before? You don't have the same look of new wonder about you as some of these younger ones, and I was looking for a guide around."

Cosmic turned his head to the sound of a pony addressing what he assumed as him upon looking at him. It was not someone he had seen before around this part, so it was logical to assume he was here in town for this event. Though it was a stretch to make that logical jump at that point, it was a fair assumption given his current location of all places, inside the convention hall.
"You may indeed presume as such?" He nodded at him. "Pardon me if I may be so bold, but I have not seen you here before... are you one of the guess speakers here at the convention today?" Cosmic asked curiously. Would it be considered weird that his first inquiry was about the visitors reasons for being here.. verses the identify of this pony? Perhaps, but Cosmic had his own sense of priorities after all. Names for the most part did not matter too much to him, the potential knowledge they had now... that was definitely more of interest to him.
If the pony wanted a simple guide he would point him to a more suitable pony to do so, but if he was speaker .. then he was be more then willing to show him around the hall. Even point out a few other annual speakers at the event. That was all up to how this new comer answered.
Cosmic carefully made mental notes of the new comers demeanor as he spoke to him. He definitely was not easy on the eyes with that bright red coloration he had, would be easy to identify as such. He wore a set of glasses upon his head, a common feature really amongst this type of crowd. That really did not provide much information about this pony. His initial tone of voice he had used to address him was rather courteous.. perhaps even rehearsed... or just something he seemed to have done before. Rehearsed or not .. it was obvious he was no stranger in being courteous in his greetings.

"Why yes, I am in fact. Doctor Solar Straight, though Dr. Straight will be fine. I've been asked to come speak this year on some new forms of energy that I've been researching, and I'm excited to say, I have high hopes this time." He didn't want to ramble on too much about the new energy engine he hoped to unveil soon. There was still so much to see and so much to do around here, and with any luck, Crisis Ward and Mist Shroud would do well on their ends, good nurses that they were.
"I don't believe I caught your name though. Would you mind doing me the honor?" He'd likely be hanging around this pony for the remainder of his time here whether he liked it or not. There was something inquisitive about his eyes that screamed for knowledge. Well, if it was knowledge he wanted, it was knowledge he was apt to receive.

'Ah good he is a speaker..' Cosmic thought to himself as the so call Doctor Solar Straight began talking. Cosmic could not help but raise an eyebrow at the mention of his revelation of the topic he was to discuss this day. This pony had definitely hit a topic that he was interested in.
"Ah where are my manners." Cosmic apologized. "I am Professor Cosmic Radiance. Not a professor at this fine establishment though. I teach at a rival institute across town as it were. Perhaps one year we will actually get the winning bid for this prestigious event." Cosmic rambled a bit. "Anyway. I'd be gladly to show you around. You interested in the just this hall or.. more of a guide through the Campus here?" Cosmic asked.
"I may not be a teacher here.. but I have been here on numerous actions for these events over the past years." He explained. "Though I can't help but admit, your research on this new form of energy does sound might interesting." Cosmic grinned slightly. "I tend to davel in the field of energy as well.... though an energy source that is not knew by any means." He pointed out to him.
"So where do you want to start this guide?" Cosmic came back around to the ponies intentions of wanting to look around the place.

Crimson nodded to himself, taking note of the pony's name. Cosmic Radiance. He sounded like someone who would study the stars, but evidently he was more interested in fields of energy, like Crimson himself. That could prove to be helpful, if this pony's mind swayed the same way as his. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Professor Radiance." Still, the University of Canterlot was by far the most prestigious of schools in Equestria, so whatever rival school he taught at must have been of a slightly lower class.
"Oh, energy has always been my passion, since I was a little foal, traveling the world with my father. Back then, I was of the mind that the sun was the most powerful source of energy in the cosmos above us, as it was the nearest star, but no, Professor. There's something much closer that can be harnessed, with the right precautions. I'll tell you some more about it after my little speech, if you're interested."
The unicorn scientist looked around, seeing if anything else caught his eye. Thus far, it all seemed very standard for a science convention, even for one as large as this. "Mayhaps we could see some of the campus before I have to speak?"

Cosmic followed listen to Solar's small exert about energy. "Really now? A greater source of source of energy than the sun?" Cosmic restated the comment to make sure he heard right. "But just how readily accessible is it?" Cosmic countered his statement. "There are many sources of energy through out this world, but one must consider the difficulties of tapping into this energy." He explained. "There are so many more.. wide spread energy that can be used if only we had the means to tap into it."
"But ... that can be discussed later." He stepped to the side in order to let the new comer pass. "We have a campus to explore." Cosmic smiled. "Luckily I am not up to speak right away.. we have some time before then to tour the campus a bit." Cosmic pointed out. "Let us get acquainted as we walk perhaps?"

"Indeed, we can discuss that later. If you still have any questions left after my little presentation, I'll be more than glad to answer them for you then. For now, let's be on our way, and explore the atmosphere of young, bright youth for a bit." Crimson seemed to be in a cheerful mood now, moreso than he had before. This pony seemed nice so far, but he'd yet to prove himself as much of a scientist.
He waited for the professor to lead, and walked alongside him through the campus, taking in the sights. It really was a very nice school. "So, Professor Radiance, will you have anything personally to show at this convention? I would assume that it had something to do with the nature of energy, if you did."

As Cosmic guided Solar through the campus of Canterlot University, the two began chatting amongst themselves. Eventually it was brought around as to what Cosmic would be presenting at the Convention today.
"Hmmm, tell me Solar... have you heard of my farther's work on the nature of magic and its relationship to energy? Or for a better word... a form of energy in itself?" Cosmic asked him. The question served two meanings. How well known his fathers research had spread? And how much he would have to explain about what he was going to present that day.
"Well.. I've been working to prove that theory of his." Cosmic grinned.

Azure Flow has been for the past week rushing all of his work for this very event; today was yet another annual convention held at the University of Canterlot, and among the few selected from the Royal Navy's R&D, he was but one of those included once more. He very much enjoyed the last convention, and eagerly looked forward to all the new advances that everypony has made, however, despite the eagerness of all the intellectual talks and speeches his main objective here was to get names and ideas. For the Royal Navy needs any advantage it can obtain for any future conflicts, and this was the perfect time to scout and work out contracts with anypony.
Now the day has come and the pony headed out late morning to the offices first, meeting up with everypony else that was selected from R&D to go to the convention together. The whole group trotted their way within their uniforms, and upon arrival they at first met up with the event organizers. They were told that there was still plenty of time before all the speakers would arrive, and that a spot for them has been made within the conference hall, afterwards, Azure took it upon him to take a trot around the campus and take in the sites.
The university was of course a lot more informal than the academy, but it still had the same atmosphere of late adolescent. Azure watched as it seemed class was still going on around the convention; for various students trotted around the grounds from building-to-building. He started to reminisce about his years within the academy that got him to where he is now. Most of the ponies gave attention to the walking Commander with a nod or smile; it was indeed a beautiful day to hold such an event. Azure finally made a final round of the grounds and decided to head back early to the conference hall; upon opening a door he sees a familiar earth pony, and immediately he starts to trot up to him and the new individual he just happened to finally see past a crowd. "Good day, Professor," Azure eagerly greets Cosmic Radiance as he gave the two ponies a firm nod.

"I've heard many magical theories regarding things of that nature in my travels, Professor Radiance. You'd have to specify which one of them might have come from your father." Truth be told, he'd only heard a handful of theories of that nature, and most of those were from foreign lands. A pony talking about it helped narrow things down a great deal, but still not enough to pinpoint exactly who the Earth pony was talking about.
Another pony of a blue hue approached the pair, this one a unicorn. He seemed fairly familiar with the professor. "A fine pleasure to meet you sir. I am Solar Straight." He turned over to Cosmic. "Old student of yours, Radiance?"

"You don't say?" Cosmic replied initially to Solar Straight as he pondered over his words a bit. "The specifics... would take a bit of time to explain in such an informal setting." He turned his head at the sound of Azure's greeting stopping Cosmic from starting his explanation.
"Ah I was waiting for you to show up!" Cosmic grinned as he thought of a way to use this distraction to his advantage. "Solar! This here Pony just happens to be Azure Flow.. a rather high ranking official in the Equetrian Naval forces, that and he is charge of over seeing their technology divisions as well!" Cosmic walked up to Azure smiling. "He became famous in the war. All those stories in the sea to the south.. fighting those Diamond dog pirates." Cosmic looked over to azure and back to Solar. "Oh sorry this guy here is Doctor Solar straight. He has a slot for a presentation later on. I just met him." He gave a quick chuckle. "I was just showing him around the Canterlot University grounds just now."
On a personal level Azure and Cosmic actual face to face contacts had been rather minimal... outside of public events the only other time they met was once or twice with Glacial being more of the focus of those meetings. "Ah seeing that you are here now Azure... How was the little sessions you had back with Glacial awhile back go?"
Cosmic was not sure if he knew Glacial was gone or not, but this was not the type of event she would choose to come to anyway, unless to meet some other pony. He was usually not one for small talk, but he was a bit curious what exactly Azure had taught her if anything. Perhaps she did not need to learn anything.. and just got some tips? "Oh.. well you don't have to answer that.. More importantly.." Cosmic looked over at Solar again. "We can take this opportunity to see what each of us will be presenting today, plus that would cut down on that little explanation Solar." He pointed out.

Azure couldn't resist the flattery that Cosmic gave when he made his entrance, but just to hide a little blush behind his rather dark mane. He then looked on over to the new pony, this Doctor, and gave a proper introductory nod to Solar Straight, while he continued to listen through Cosmic's eccentric flattery and curiosity. It was true that he only was able to see and talk to Cosmic a few times when Glacial was accepting lessons.
"Well, I just did my part and service to Equestria. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time for the Navy at the end of the war, nothing more. I was indeed looking forward to seeing you once more, Cosmic Radiance. It sure has been a long time since the lessons with Glacial," Azure modestly replied and began to reminisce over the lessons, and of the joy to teach another.
"I merely helped in refining the basics with her. The rest right now is all on her and her creativity, and before I forget my own manners, Doctor. Like this associate has introduced, I am Commander Azure Flow, a pleasure to meet you. I'm just here to spectate and hand in any recommendations of ponies we can potentially contract with."
Azure noted lastly as stood within his decorative uniform. He looked around and then at the two ponies thinking of what more to say. A light glow was shaded away by his cap as a pocket watch was magically lifted from a pocket; he opened up the watch as to see what the time is so far before putting it right back. "I see there's still plenty of time before the main event is on. Why don't you tell me a little about yourself, Doctor Solar?"

There certainly were an abundance of blue ponies in Canterlot. Must have been all the blue blood floating around. Crimson laughed softly inside his own head at the joke. It was time to get serious though, with a military commander staring him down. He seemed to have been one of the ones fighting the filthy mutt militia, as opposed to the zebras though. That was fortunate in it's own right. "Well, I was born off continent, to a little wandering group of scientists. You'd be surprised how much the mind can adapt when it moves from place to place without ever stopping for long. But then, I suppose that's the very nature of progress itself."
He adjusted his glasses, and picked up a small, rolled up diagram out of his saddlebag with his magic. "I will be presenting the first prototype of my new energy engine, based off of those very ideals. Progress should never stop, but where would we be without something to help run such progress? I believe that we're entering a new age, gentlecolts. An age of power."

"I see." Cosmic nodded in response to Azure just being here to observe the show this year. He always had to keep up with the latest innovations for multiple reasons. Never want to be caught off guard in case some of these emerging technologies were to become more common as it were. Attention was then focused on the Crimson Sunset. 'Let's see how he answers this simple question.' Cosmic had no doubt it it was a rather simple question that any pony could make up an answer on the spot. But why would Crimson need to do such a thing. He had not lead them to believe he was not telling through about anything so far.
'A traveling group of Scientist?' Cosmic noted to himself. Well not completely unheard of, it was not something particularly common among Scientist, especially theoretical Scientist. Most the ones that traveled were either medical in nature or out trying to gather evidence to support their latest theories. "Off continent.. how interesting." Cosmic grinned a bit. The appearance of non native Equestrian's have been steadily growing at these conventions, but they were still in the minority.
"But.." Cosmic became focused on the matter at hand. "A new energy engine you say?" This sounded interesting. "But that title is a bit misleading... or not informative enough. A new type of engine to better utilize current energy, or.. perhaps something a bit more interesting you have in mind for us today?"
"As for me.. I'm presenting a device that can convert and focus latent magical energy from the surrounding environment into an artificial device." Cosmic explained. "Regardless of species, age, or experience, who ever wears this device can then transfer the gathered magic into a make shift spells. Though the product is still in its test phase. For it can only really be used to enhance one's own natural abilities. Though with further research i believe it will shatter the boundaries amongst different pony kind." Cosmic stated proudly.
