Everfree Forest isn’t always the best place for a pony to be. To be entirely honest, it isn’t really a place to be at all. For many ponies, it was a place to avoid. For a certain Pegasus, this place was probably a home away from home. Black Rose had lived in Everfree forest for quite some time now, undetected by nearly all of the sentient habitants. This mischievous mare wreaked havoc upon-and eventually murdered-unsuspecting ponies with no remorse, plotting each and every one of their doomed fates with upmost detail. And nopony knew that she even existed. They blamed the disappearances of countless fillies, mares, and stallions on the treacherous terrors of Everfree Forest.
And that is what Rose loved the most. The stories told by the soon-to-be posthumous ponies as they dared one another to enter, and spend a night inside the woodlands, veiled by the eerie flora. The capricious criminal always made sure nopony made it out. There were countless souls trapped within her gem, which she draped around her neck on a tight leash. Her eyes, narrow and dark, seemed to give her victims a sense of danger, even though they had no idea she was present. Ponies were picked off one-by-one, the others unaware of their companion’s disappearance.
And tonight was just another night, Rose thought, as she eyed a group of ponies from afar, cloaked in shadow. An evil smirk appeared on her face, and her eyes beamed in on a target. Perhaps tonight it would be fun to mess around with this group. They seemed like they were tougher than the others she had stripped souls from last night’s reaping. But there was thing that she knew about them, which made her evil smile grow. These ponies weren’t from around Everfree Forest, which meant they didn’t know of the disappearances. They didn't know of the terrors that lurked around them. They knew nothing of the dangers. These ponies were one thing and one thing alone. Not. Even. Suspicious.

The Everfree was lit up with life on this night, and Livewire wasn't about that life go to waste. He'd heard rumors of pony's not coming back from a little adventure the night before, and that meant that there was more than likely a few fresh corpses still lying around. Those would make excellent game for a few new spells he'd been attempting to selfcraft. The hybrid stalked around the group when they unwisely set up camp right in the middle of a large grouping of trees. This would be almost too easy.
As Livewire prepared to make his strike, something caught his eye. There was more beings out there watching this group, other than him. He cloaked himself in an illusion spell, blending completely into the surroundings of the Everfree. A wicked smile came across his face as he stepped back, allowing whatever else was out there to make their move first. In the end, it would be less work for him, and that was always a plus. A worn out opponent would be far easier to take alive, for experimentation with his new runes. There was one in particular that he was dying to try out.

The starving lord flew through the night air, sensing all the life in the forest beneath him. It was abundant with it, but with each flap of his wings, the life would have seemed absent to a lesser mortal. The pure essence of terror, permeating off of the demon and into the air, filling all the unnatural things in the forest with horror.
He flew lower, closer to the canopy. He was nearing the edge of the forest, and wanted to remain hidden to any prey. He swooped down under the trees, finding the ground and landing into a brisk pace. And to his very surprise, there stood a pegasus, the first mortal the demon lord has seen, the first victim. "Well," he said aloud, the torment of this mortal was about to begin, "What do we have here?"

Being caught is one thing that Rose never was, and it hit her like a brick. She turned to the new being, her eyes filled with fury. When her eyes met his, she stood her ground, and glared right at him. She hissed at the demonic figure, stamping her hoof on the branch below her. Dark, feathered wings descended around her, cloaking her body, as if she was forming a barrier between them.
“You have no business here… This is -my- territory. These vermin are mine to feed on…” Her voice was nearly inaudible, she wasn’t about to let some evil and demonic-looking spawn of the nether force her to back away from a few perfectly good souls. She took a step forwards, as if to intimidate the other. She knew it wasn’t going to work, but it never hurts to try. “Leave…” She hissed again. Her eyes were narrowed, and looked like they were about to bear into the other’s soul, assuming he had one. This one could ruin it for her in Everfree Forest. She would have to migrate to another area, or even realm, to feed on unsuspecting souls.

It seemed as though the figures that he hadn't seen yet decided to make their prescence known to him. The zebricorn started to follow the sound of the male's voice, echoing off of the trees of the Everfree. Once the female started speaking however, it became a fair bit darker for his sound-based sight. That wasn't about to deter him though, as he shut out the overly loud group of travelers, and focused towards the ones that were attempting to stay hidden. He made it within ten feet of the pair, slowing his advance. The illusion spells surrounding him would easily hold until he either made himself known, or was directly in their faces.
Livewire chose to remain hidden until he was fully aware of what these two had planned. If it interfered with his own plans, there was going to be a bit of trouble.

Insane laughter began to break out of the demon's mouth. "My, here I thought you were just another disgusting mortal, but here is another demon!" His laugh echoed out into the forest, it's evil nature twisting it as it got farther and farther away.
"Do you even know who your trying to order around?" He drew closer, his legs not even moving as he glided over the earth. His attitude completely flipped from deranged to rage. His wings flared as his appearance shifted from equine-like, to his true horrific form. "I am the Lord Crayak Moxis! Demon King of Hell, Tormentor of Souls, Raper of Life! You dare order me?! You should obey your King before he ends your existence."

The Pegasus’ eyes widened for just a moment, surprised by the sudden shift in moods of the other. She took a slight step backwards, her dark, feathery wings still draped around her. She buried half of her face underneath the makeshift barrier, and let a crooked smile cross her face. “I’ve never been one to take orders, you know…” Her voice was audible to everyone in the near vicinity now, and she was certain her souls were about to escape. “I do think my time with you has fallen short… your Majesty. I have no business with petty monarchies and false rulers. So rule your petty kingdom elsewhere. These souls are -mine-.”
She extended her wings to their full length and jumped backwards. A slight warping noise was heard, and a puff of smoke is all that remained of her previous position. Three loud wails of pain sounded from where the group of ponies was a little ways back, and Black Rose stood above their newly ‘petrified with fear’ states. If she wanted these ponies’ souls, she’d have to get them soon. Rose was faced towards the demon “king”, her eyes unwavering. “I may not be as powerful as you, but I most definitely will -not- bow down to the likes of you.” She dragged her front left hoof across the ground, as if she was mocking him with a challenge.

The last piece of the heavy shroud in Crayak's mind snapped and shattered, whatever was holding his full emotion back was gone, and a reign of terror would soon begin. "You shall not bow?" He shouted, his from rapidly shifting with an overflow of demonic power. "Death it is."
The King of Hell screamed out of the forest, an illuminating black covered his trail, altering the very energy of the air causing it to fall stale with the stench of death. His skin melted off, showing only the horribly disfigured skeleton of Lord Moxis. His scraps of flesh fell upon the mortals beneath him, and it began to melt the very meat off their bones. The screams of terror fueled Crayak as his magic formed a long, twisted demonic horn atop his head. He was aiming to skewer the opposing demon.
"Your defiance shall be your undoing!"

Livewire had to stifle a bit of laughter when the so-called, 'Demon King of Hell' revealed his true form. The hybrid had seen far worse in The Void, and mangled enough corpses in his own right to have seen a disfigured skeleton or two. If this was all the demon king had to offer, then Livewire was severely disappointed. He chose to uncloak the spell around the area, revealing himself to voice his outrage. He aimed his voice towards Crayak.
"You there, alleged Demon King! Your presentation could really use work. I wasn't impressed in the slightest!"

Rose blinked a few times, perplexed at the sudden liquidation of the demonic figure in front of her. She never knew demon lords could melt. Was that even supposed to be scary? Was that supposed to be funny? She tilted her head, suspicious. "Umm..." She wrapped a hoof around one of the terrified ponies, and couldn't help but smirk. "Is that supposed to be scary?" She covered her mouth with a hoof, and chuckled.
"Hehehe..." A smile crossed her lips, her face filled with joy. The Pegasus fell to the ground, her chuckle turned into a soft laugh. "That's kind of awesome..!" She released her grip on the terrified pony, who took the opportunity to make a mad dash away from the freakish events.
After a short while, she recomposed herself, wiping a few tears from her eyes. "Ah, that's great. But seriously now." Her face straightened, and she returned to her dark self. "You chased off perfectly good souls. What do you have to say about that?" She narrowed her eyes again, and glared at the skeleton "king".

Lord Moxis ignored the words spoken to him by the nearby ponies, and immediately followed Black Rose down towards the ground. He landed right on top of her, letting his dark energy purge the ground into flames. He lowered his horn down onto Rose, and began pulling her demonic essence out of her mortal husk.
"I'll send your very soul back to the Nether if you continue opposing your King." He said as he pulled the essence farther away from her body. His jaw became unhinged and surging with demonic power, the soul started circling into his mouth. The Demon King's voice boomed out what seemed of no where, shaking all of the earth around him. "Your decision, you whelp."
