The letter had been sent several days ago, so it should have had time to arrive at its destination in one piece.

In light of the impending crisis and possible apocalypse, Glaive had seen fit to call in the greatest warrior among mortal ponies he knew. Sir Bladeborn Eclipse, scion of the noble House Castor, was relatively young for his position, but his skill with bladecasting was beyond anything Glaive had ever seen, and his courage and devotion to justice was no less impressive. He was exactly the sort of pony Glaive would need soon.

And so, he waited in a corner of the Ponyville tavern, a glass of water in front of him. Blade would hopefully arrive soon.

Bladeborn arrived in Ponyville for the first time in years. After being recalled by Celestia Bladeborn attended to several duties in the capital, Most of which involved security. for his efforts Bladeborn was promoted to Under-Marshal within his Knighthood. Which among other things doubled his responsibility.

The last year Bladeborn had been under the tutelage of Marshal Magnus Opal, of The Knights of the Rising Sun, Many officers outside of the order could tell he was being groomed for leadership, but he was years away from such.

The door to the Tavern opened and in stepped Bladeborn his armor was completely different compared to what it was The Last time Glaive saw him. It was a mix of Silver and Gold plating adorned with many ornate engravings signifying his rank. along with that was a Dark blue cape showing the Nation of Equestria's Heraldry proudly.

Glaive smiled when the knight entered the tavern. He certainly struck a fine figure - in his opulent armour and rather fancy cape. He'd filled out, as well, the last vestiges of foalhood gone, replaced with the strong masculinity that he'd always promised to have. He'd make some lucky mare very happy one day - and leave many more mares and more than a few stallions left broken-hearted.

He waved Bladeborn over, indicating for him to take a seat.

"It's been a while, Blade. Sit down. You seem to be doing well."

Bladeborn grinned and moved through the tavern sitting next to Glaive.

"Its been quite awhile...Never thought leading could be this hard. But its rewarding, learning that is." He smirked

"What was so urgent you called me here?"

Always straight to business. That was Bladeborn, all right. He always took his duties and obligations seriously, every bit as much as Glaive himself did when he worked on direct behalf of Celestia. He settled himself in his seat, took a drink of water, and sighed.

"What do you know about Midnight Paradox? The demon sworn to Celestia's service?"

Bladeborn grunted "Nothing. Helped Celestia with Nightmare Moon a thousand years ago...Never liked hearing of her. I personally don't trust her..." He peered a bit "whats this have to do with her?"

"I know it's hard to trust a demon. I felt much the same myself, once. But I can certainly vouch for her good intentions...she has nothing but loyalty to Celestia. But that's neither here nor there."

Glaive leaned forward and lowered his voice even further. He was already speaking quietly before, but now he barely whispered. Blade would have to strain his ears to hear Glaive's words.

"She was once the consort to the king of Tartarus, Blade. And after all this time, he's come here for her."

Bladeborn nodded "Fair enough." He leaned in and what Glaive said made him freeze.

"Really? You realize this will blow up into a terrible crisis...something Equestria hasn't dealt with in generations?" He glanced around making doubly sure no one heard him.

Glaive nodded.

"I'm well aware. The princesses have already been informed, and I have been taking steps to prepare. My family and friends are ready to evacuate, and I have plans to force the rest of Ponyville to evacuate as well if need be. And...I very much fear they will need to. That is why I called you here. In all my years, all my travels, I cannot think of another mortal pony I would rather have by my side to stand against such a threat than you."

"You don't need to ask." Bladeborn smirked "Of course I'd stand with you." He nodded his head curtly "Has this king ever shown his head?"

Glaive smiled and nodded his thanks, then turned serious again.

"No, he hasn't. At least, not to me, or anypony who might have known what he is...aside from Midnight. She doesn't want me to think of him as a threat, instead to think of him as somewhat like her, a lost soul far from home...but I can't think that way. He's too dangerous."

"I agree...I don't think he can be saved either, But can either of us take him on? Aren't demons supposed to rival that of the Princesses?" He asked concerned "Because...as strong as we are...We can't take the Princesses."

Glaive shook his head.

"No, we can't. But even if my plans do go off, there may still be innocent ponies here. I couldn't just stand by and let them get slaughtered. Besides..."

Glaive grinned, a grin that Blade knew well. That smile contained within it one of Glaive's most deeply bottled emotions - his sheer love and adulation for the thrill of mortal danger, and the glorious clash and din of battle and combat.

"Even if it's a fight I can't win, I won't back down unless I must."

Bladeborn grinned "I know that feeling, I wouldn't have it any other way." He chuckled "You know I'd stand with you."

Glaive nodded again, smiling warmly. He clapped a hoof down on Blade's shoulder.

"Thank you, old friend. It means a great deal to me."

He stood then, and threw his jacket over his shoulders. He looked down at Blade.

"There's some preparations I have yet to finish. If there's anything you need to prepare, I suggest you do it soon."
