Alpha rolled over and picked himself up. "Damn, that smarts." He said, rubbing his shoulder. He looked the assassin in the eyes. Eyes he didn't think he would see for a much longer time.
"Good to see you again." He said. "Or not, since we're not exactly on any sort of good terms as of five seconds ago."

"I don't understand, Alpha." Glaive shook his head, a genuine note of sadness in his voice. "You had a new life in Ponyville. You could have lived in peace. But instead...this. This. Tell me, Alpha, is this new? Or have you been sneaking around my back this whole time, betraying your people? Your country?"
He shakes his head. "I don't know why I'm bothering. This is where it ends, Alpha Protocol."
He dashed towards the disgraced spy, blades flashing in the dim lights.

"You might be surprised." Alpha said before Glaive's attack began. Alpha didn't bother sticking around. Instead, he fled. To whichever direction seemed best at the moment. He would need to find himself a weapon to fight with. But that wouldn't be hard, considering how many were laying around the manor. A good longsword would do just fine.
"Don't slow down on my account!" He called back to the assassin.

Glaive gave chase, intent on running the traitor down before he could cause more harm. Whether he was attempted to flee or was just making a temporary tactical withdrawal didn't matter.
He couldn't be allowed to live any longer.

Alpha rounded a corner and saw exactly what he wanted. The sword was mounted with a twin above a set of armor. He flew to them and drew 5 hem from 5 heir mount, finally turning back to the assassin. "There, now we can do this properly." He said, taking a stance with both swords. "Kill me! If you think you can." He taunted.

"At least you aren't running. I'll give you that much."
Glaive advanced cautiously. He wouldn't put it at all past Alpha to have a trick or trap of some sort planned. But it didn't matter. Whatever the spy could do, the assassin could do better. He dashed forward, striking at Alpha with his blades.

Alpha blocked with cross swords. He side stepped and brought one of the swords around with him for a counter attack. "Come on, Glaive! I'm waiting for you to kill me!" He taunted.

Blades clashed together as the assassin and the spy danced around each other. But something was wrong. Alpha was staying entirely on the defensive. That was never his style.
"What's wrong, Alpha? Scared to strike back?"

Alpha smirked as the clashing of steel rang through the halls. "On the contrary. I've never been so fearless in all my life!" He said. "I've learned a few things since we last danced." A swing and a miss. "Besides, you've been not so secretly wanting to kill me for a while now. I figured you'd take the opportunity a bit more seriously than this."

"You just don't get it, Alpha. I never wanted to kill you." A twist and a parry, and both stallions were again left unharmed. To an outside observer, it would be difficult to say if either of the combatants were holding back, or if they were simply equally matched. "I never wanted to kill anyone! Everything I've done, all the blood I've spilled, has been for the sake of this land, not my own!"
His hoof lashed out, aiming to strike Alpha low and sweep him to the ground.

"Oh really?" Alpha dodged the hoof with a quick backwards jump. "You and I are no different then. You should help me out. I'm going to change this place so radically that you won't recognize it. And it will all be for the better."

"No, Alpha. Even if I believed you, even if you really do think things will be better...the cost is too high. Too many innocents hurt. Too many of my friends hurt...though I'm not convinced that's a concept you even understand."
Glaive didn't attack, not yet. If he could keep Alpha talking...maybe the spy would slip, and reveal some of his plans.

Alpha shrugged. "Fine. I get it, you're still sympathetic. I wouldn't want to pull you away from your family anyway. You're one of the few ponies in this world that I actually like after all."
"But there's no such thing as an innocent." He continued. "We're all guilty of something. No matter how small. Doesn't matter though, at least this country will be prepared and caught up with the times when I'm done with it."
