Jane sipped on her coffee, looking around casually. "My handler has the good sense not to publish those until after this whole ordeal has passed. I do hope that you'll make a report of your findings on Shortfuse and send me a courtesy copy. He has an army of spies, a torture dungeon and less of an idea of what fun is than you, if that helps." she added.

"Less fun than I am? Hm." That slightly unsettled Wit, considering he was trying to be an insufferable ass. He knew Shortfuse kept a public appearance of stoic, unless it came to Solaris, in which rage was the default emotion.

"Torture dungeon and army of spies." He repeated. "I'll be exceedingly careful, in that case. He will likely be on the watch for such things. Perhaps I could attempt meeting with him. He won't trust me, however. Especially not since I am an associate of Sir Strike."

Jane stared at the bottom of her coffee cup and swished around what was left, seemingly unentertained by the current conversation. "In my professional opinion Wit, I'd avoid that. Shortfuse is the type to make you disappear if he has the chance to. And he'd kill you before throwing you into a river. He has yet to meet Alpha, but I did say that I'd arrange a meeting, which could happen as early as tonight. My assumption is that Shortfuse does not wish to outright destroy Equestria, only to dethrone the princesses. His hatred for Sir Strike though... is extreme." she said as she picked up her stiletto, which disappeared into her illusion once more. She slid a small crystal onto the tray in its place. "On here is my entire conversation with Shortfuse and the current location of Alpha's bunker that he's operating out of here in Canterlot. Do avoid irregular patrols through the area. I'll be truthful with you, Wit. I attempted to slander Shortfuse as well so Sir Strike could pass his legislation to bring the nobles' armies under the government's control. I realize that this actually traitorous and unprofessional, tampering with the government's political system. However it did produce the interesting result of allying Shortfuse with Alpha, whom will both be arrested as traitors at the end of this. I'm not sure how Sir Strike might take that news, though..." she said, seeming to eye something off in the distance.

Wit eyed the crystal, both curious of its contents and function. He didn't get to further examine the scrying taps from Protocol's apartment. It occurred to him, or rather his paranoia triggered a line of thinking, that such a thing could be in the room, and he wouldn't know. Hm. It shouldn't be too hard to research. Perhaps I can find a way to detect these devices, without asking EI.

The crystal levitated over to his side of the desk. "Many professional opinions have advised the same, including my own. I promised myself I wouldn't get caught up with something above my pay-grade, but here I am." He spread his legs wide, gesturing to the room.

"I'll compile a proper report for Sir Strike before his return, he'll know everything you've decided to share." Wit paused, kind of eyeing her for a moment, as if he was seizing her up. Finally, he looked back to his work.

"Unprofessional, yes... I don't know about traitorous, but I'll keep my opinion to myself. Though, I'm curious... why would you attempt such a thing? Was it personal, or was he one of your targets?"

Jane seemed to adjust her stance uncomfortably where she sat. She was now well-fed and not in a stockade, but looked to be suffering just the same. "Personal." she stated simply. "Do stay out of trouble, Wit. I'd hate for somepony to succeed in killing you." she said as she turned to walk out of the room.

Wit looked up and eyed her once more. He wasn't expecting that, that was to be sure. Personal? Hm. What could that mean?

"Somepony besides yourself, is that right?" Wit grinned, he understood the sentiment if nothing else. Their relationship was rocky, but workable. That's all that mattered to Wit.

Jane did not audibly reply to Wit, but rather slowed in her pace, turning her head to cast a devilish smirk to Wit as her answer. She then casually left the room, closing the door behind her quietly. Upon leaving the manor she would change to some common pony on the streets until she was near the bunker that Alpha had told her of and changed back to her alias of Bella Dientes. The many changes of appearance had worn her out for the day and she would need a nap at least.

She would return to the manor days later, after the meeting with Shortfuse. She hoped that Solaris would be there to talk to this time.
