It hadn't taken long at all. The instant that Vito had received Coeur's letter, he was quite angry. The princesses he'd spoken with, disappeared? The Equestrian Knight that he'd respected, dead by a cowardly assassin? This would not stand.

As soon as Coeur had arrived, he briefed Vito in more detail, and the two Whinns had set sail to Equestria; Cariad was to be in charge of Whinns while Vito was away; the large unicorn had the utmost faith in his wife.

When they arrived in Stableside, they'd immediately set off for Canterlot. Before arriving there, Coeur had split off from Vito; he had investigation to do and he wanted to do it discreetly.

His son's words, 'Do not trust anyone, father, but Knight-Commander Shortfuse especially not. He gained much from Solaris' death and I strongly suspect his involvement' in his mind, the large stallion entered the Equestrian capital with his battleaxe slung over his back. He said nothing as he made his way further towards the castle.

North picked up the files and placed them into the folders they belonged, finishing up the tidying up of his new office in Canterlot. He smiled, quite content to see his office in tip-top shape, as it should be of course. It was just then that North noticed a small piece of paper on the ground, a misplaced file and clearly a smudge on his perfection of an office. He promptly put it where it belonged.

It was at that moment that North received a knock on the door, a knock coming in from one of his squad-mates, bearing a letter from the army. “Oh wonderful.” North seemed quite joyful at the letter, expecting some good news. “I put in an order for some new gear a while back. I’m thinking this may be our reply.” North replied, sending his squad-mate off to read the letter in the comfort of his private office. He plopped down in his chair and opened it, putting the trash in the trash-bin next to him. North’s expression slowly turned from glee, to seriousness, to shock…

“Bull…..Fucking...shit.” he exclaimed silently upon reading the news. Sir Solaris, dead? By an assassin? No. This was impossible. Not now! North rushed through the letter, getting a cold sweat in the process, trying to find any reason to believe it false, but the royal signature at the bottom confirmed it. Solaris was dead. He started at it for, quite literally, hours… trying to come to the reality of it. A few ponies came by, but they all awkwardly stepped out after seeing North reading the letter. They probably didn't have much good news anywa-...

“NYOOOOOOOOOO!!!” North suddenly shouted, flipping his desk and throwing all the meticulously placed items, some of which were glass off of it. The glass shattered everywhere on the cold floor. He then proceeded to buck the table repeatedly till it was nothing more than splinters. Buck after buck sent splinters flying, and the room became more and more of a complete disaster. He then grabbed a small glob he had on the wall and proceeded to smash it against the wall repeatedly. Of course, nopony could hear him… The room was soundproofed. North had assured that.

“WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!?” he shouted at the wall, incredibly angry. “WHAT. THE. FUUUUCKK!?!??!” he screamed, his face contorted with anger. “FUCK YOU!” he shouted, throwing files and smashing items in his room. “FUCK THIS!” he smashed yet another item in his rampage. “YOU FAILED!!!” YOU FAAAAIIILLEED!!!” North was in tears at this point, screaming and angrily destroying the office around him in a wrathful bout of anger mixed with sadness and a crushed dream. It would be a full hour before he managed to get himself off of the floor, into his full body light battle armor, complete with a headgear and everything, and rushed outside to do some inconspicuous thing after making his office semi-spotless. . .

- - - A few Hours Later- - -

North would find himself in front of one of the largest unicorns he had ever seen. I mean. . . to North, who was only averaged sized, this thing was massive. Hailing from whinns was King Vito, standing right in front of him. North had heard of the king's appearance and had gone out to greet him with two of his guards. North was still in full armor.

"Good afternoon King Vito. Welcome to Canterlot Castle."

"Well met." Vito's deep voice was somewhat terse, though the stallion was doing a remarkable job of keeping himself level. "Coeur informed me of what was going on. I believed the situation pressing enough that I needed to get involved personally."

He looked down at North. "Who might you be?"

North was a bit careful with his words, as this pony was definitely intimindating. However, he kept his friendly demeanor and joyful self up.

"I am, skipping formalities, North Lightning. While I do personally believe there are issues that need to be solved, I've been informed by my superiors that things are under control." North replied with a begrudging tone.

"Is tha' so?" Vito didn't seem amused and his tone was similar to North's. "Perhaps it is... an' perhaps I puke up rainbows. Where are yer superiors?"

"Beyond our reach. . . lucky bastards." North would reply. "I'm told that they're within the castle now, but all officers are to man their posts until further notice."

"Well. Good thing I'm no officer, aye? Thank ye for directing me. Keep your eyes open."

The large unicorn began moving towards the castle. He was determined now. There were things around here that would not remain hidden from him; he was sure of it.
