Arael departed the train and entered Canterlot with a small bag that held her written report on how the construction of the 1st Ponyville Brigade was going. Her silvery armor was freshly polished to look in top order for her meeting with... ugh... Lord Commander Shortfuse. She had never met him in person. But if Solaris' opinion was to be trusted, he wasn't that great of a guy.

She would soon learn for herself, she felt, because the commanders from pretty much all of Equestria were meeting to report on the recent draft and new brigade constructions. She entered the large courtroom and already saw many former knights that she knew, all of which were now officers in the Equestrian army. There were still many that she had never met before, but that really wasn't important at the moment. She found a seat and started up a conversation with one of her acquaintances while waiting for things to get started.

South would not say a single unnecessary word, even when he was in the meeting room, at which point he merely sat down on the floor, his armor almost certainly too heavy for the seats offered at the meeting. He wore an even heavier version of standard bronze armor, and his variant covered every inch of his body, with the exception of his eyes. On his armor's right side, near his shoulder was the engraved and painted symbol of the house of Castor.

South would, quite frankly, make a solid opinion of Shortfuse only upon actually meeting him. The anger and silence was merely a silent tribute to being near where his hero once spent his days, and were unrelated to the situation. He sat down coincidentally next to Arael and quietly watched where Shortfuse would enter.

The doors flung open and in stepped Shortfuse, in military dress. He stepped past the gathering of officers, giving South a Sidelong glance.

He stepped to the front of the room and turn about. "Lets skip the formalities: I'm Lord Commander Shortfuse." He addressed the crowd, opening a folder he brought with him.

"We'll start with the new Garrisions: Manehattan, Ponyville, Bridle Shores and Trottingham." The Commanders of the Bridle Shores and Trottingham garrisons gave a report on the number of drafted soldiers, the progress of their individual construction projects." Shortfuse was writing down notes as the commanders orally introduced themselves and throughout their report. His eyes fell on Arael.

Prepared made sure her papers were in order while the other commanders spoke. When it was finally her turn, she stood, gave a customary salute and got started. "Lieutenant Colonel Arael, of the 1st Ponyville Garrison." She started.

"The Lord Commander will be pleased to hear that due to the diligence of its workers, the 1st Ponyville Garrison facility is currently ahead of schedule in its construction. Additional supplies have been requested as needed." She flips a page.

"A final tally of two hundred and fifty ponies were selected from Ponyville, of which, only one hundred and seventy three were deemed fit for military service by medical personnel. In addition, of those selected for draft, a total of five non-compliants were captured and two remain at large. Their names have been submitted through proper channels, and the few we have in custody are being disciplined in accordance with set guidelines."

Arael let out a breath and turned to the next page. "If I may bring something to the Lord Commander's attention?"

Shortfuse nodded along and continued to write down notes, grumbling a bit under his breath at the number soldiers accepted in Ponyville.

"Please do, Lieutenant Colonel." He said curtly.

Arael cleared her throat and then continued. "Sir, I'm not sure if I'm the only one having this problem, but the training received by these draftees is hardly up to par with standard training one would gain in any respectable training facility." She said.

"I think I speak for my fellow commanders when I say that it would have been appreciated if these new personnel had gotten more than a, and I quote, brief summary of Equestrian combat tactics." She eyed Shortfuse with a clear look of disapproval that could almost be interpreted as challenging.

Shortfuse looked thoughtful and tapped his chin with a hoof, then looked to a few of the other officers.

"No problems here sir." One said, standing a bit straighter, following them a small group of other Officers chimed in on Arael's issue, roughly half were in agreement.

"I see. Lieutenant Colonel Arael, how would you remedy this situation?"

"Well, sir, I would suggest that either the draftees go through a full cycle of training at the proper facilities in Stableside, Manehatten or Canterlot. Or, alternatively and less costly, training personnel be dispatched to the new garrisons for a proper cycle of training within the garrison locales."

The latter was a better option all around to Arael. "That way, the draftees will be both trained, and fully familiar with their working stations."

Shortfuse looked at the folder for a moment and then nodded his head. "Very well then. Within two weeks each Garrison that needs it will send in a request for academy trainers to be dispatched to their sector. We'll get it done." He said nodding to the crowd.

"Lieutenant Colonel South Storm, your report?"

South raised an eyebrow at the Lord Commander as he walked by, unsure of why he got a sidelong glance. Perhaps he had done something wrong at Manehattan? Reports had gone smoothly, as had everything else.

When the Lord Commander addressed him directly, he stood up and saluted his superior before bringing his paper just before his eyes. "My Lord, the situation in Manehattan has been going, albeit slowly, soundly. The Manehattan garrison was able to work around the lack of supplies, which is why none have been requested."

"As for our final tally..." he continued, modeling his report off of Arael's. Frankly, this was the first time he had ever produced any sort of report in-front of such a massive, and important, audience. Frankly, he was just a tad nervous, which is why he had immediately flipped a page the moment he heard Arael speaking earlier to focus on the report as opposed to the extraneous issues that had been going on in Manehattan.

"... we chose four thousand seven hundred and eighty two from the populace, of which four thousand seven hundred and one were deemed fit for duty by our medical officers. " he stated, but then gritted his teeth a bit, moviong onto the amount of escapees.

"... One hundred and thirty one non-compliants remain at large of the three hundred and forty one non-compliants that had escaped us. They were disciplined within accordance to our guidelines, my Lord."

Shortfuse nodded a few times, pleased with the results. "Very good." he said still nodding his head.

"My advisers warned me that Manehattan would be a difficult area to garrision. Projections were around half of what you were able to pull out. So, good job." he congratulated, looking down the row.

Each officer than gave their own report in turn. From the sounds of things most garrisons were operating within expectations. "Expect the additional soldiers to arrive at your garrisons in a few days time. Now, excuse me." He saluted the conclave, waited for them to answer and then headed out the door, leaving the congregation to themselves.
