Every city had spots where the presence of the law was so minimal that crime and debauchery would be able to set itself in. Canterlot was no exception. While not nearly as bad as in the larger cities like Manehatten or Fillydelphia, it would still be fair to call this the "Red Light District" of canterlot. And because crime had gone up in the past couple of months, the place was an even worse place to visit for those who didn't know their way around.

Good thing Nuva knew her way around. She had come to this part of town deliberately to buy some illegal substances for her potions and material spells. She would have preferred to grab them from a legitimate shop, but the the bits she needed were banned by the government for one reason or another. But that was the great thing about the black market, they didn't really care what was banned or not.

After getting what she needed, she sat in a cute little Ib-Xianese restaurant, slurping down some noodles. She liked foreign food the best. Something about Equestrian cooking just didn't sit right with her. She kept her bag close, still strapped to her side. There was no telling when some thief would come by and grab loose wallets or bags. Best to keep it on you at all times.

Though Zephyr had not been to Canterlot in nearly four years, the 'Red Light District" of the city still remained as familiar to him as it always had. More than a small comfort when it was the only place, aside from his mother's home, that he truly felt comfortable in. The place actually seemed even seedier than the last time he'd been there, probably helped along by the war efforts and such.

The Zony hummed a soft tune to himself, a jazzy number that had his flanks swaying playful to the beat as he walked. The stallion's ears where perked and constantly swiveling around for noise even as he tossed his head back and forth light as he got more into his little song. He really could've put off coming here for a few more days, but he needed to meet with some contacts and it was better they know he was back now rather than later.

After taking care of his business, the rumbling of his stomach signaled that it was time to eat. Making his way further into the district, he came up on a familiar Ib-Xianese restaurant. Familiar in that it served food he'd grown accustomed to eating for eight years while he trained in Xi-ban. Driven by a sense of nostalgia and hunger, he enter quietly and ordered. He took a glance around, ponywatching for lack of a better term. Ponies and many other species filled the place, but one in particular caught his eye. Another Zony, but a pegasus hybrid? He was intrigued and levitated his food as he moved to stand by her table. "Care if I join you?"

Nuva looked up from her noodles at the flaming pink unicorn that stood before her. "Not at all, pull up a seat." She said, then got back to her meal. Maybe this pony lived around here. A working mare perhaps? No, she was too pretty for that.

"You look kind of out of place here, if you don't mind me saying." She said, trying to sound polite.

Smiling softly, he pulled up a chair and sat his bowl across from her. Taking a moment to put his hooves together and bow his head over his meal, Zephyr mumbled a few things under his breath, before looking back up at Nuva and nodding.

"I supposed that's a fair assessment." He agreed, taking a pair of chopsticks in a his telekinetic field. "You stand out a bit yourself, Hun."

Nuva let out a small huff of a chuckle. "It helps me out, believe it or not." She said. "I get mistaken for an exotic call mare from time to time. Apparently that's the sort of thing ponies are willing to pay a reservation for." She chuckles again, thinking of how many times she's 'reserved' a spot for someone. And how all of them were still waiting.

After a second look, Nuva noticed that parts of the stranger's coat were a bit brighter than the rest of her, and then distinguished them as stripes. "Hey, you're part Zebra?"

Zephyr gave a soft giggle of his own as he listened to the pegasus Zony. "I see." He smiles coyly, taking a slurping his noodles. "Can't say that I blame them for the mistake. You're pretty cute, hun." He swallows the noodles in his mouth and takes another slurp from his bowl, winking playfully at Nuva, though her next statement causes his ears to perk and a smirk to reach his face.

"Oh, you noticed, huh?" He nodded softly, a slightly amused expression on his face. "Fancy that. Two zonies sitting together and enjoying each other's company." He chuckles.

"If you're trying to flatter me, then it's working." Nuva joked. "What are the odds of that? A million to one? Calls for some kind of celebration doesn't it? I say we drink."

"Maybe I am, just a bit." Zephyr teased back. "But it's true, too." He tossed his head, tossing his mane to the left of his neck. Shrugging at her question, he grinned hugely. "I'm not sure statistically speaking, but I know it's not high. So, a toast is definitely in order."

Nuva nodded. "Oh, waiter!" She called, summoning the service pony to her side. "A bottle of rice wine for my new friend and I, please." She said. The bottle was there in short order and small cups filled with the drink.

Nuva took her cup and raised it. "To unlikely meetings." She toasted.

Zephyr took another slurp of his noodles as Nuva called over a server to get wine for them, the large grin never leaving his face. Slowly chewing, he took a moment to really look the mare over, past the fact that she was a pegasus zebra hybrid. He was definitely interested in what he saw and had many things he'd like to talk with her about, but that could wait until after their merriment.

Zephyr took his own cup in his hooves and raised it. "And a prosperous future." He replied, tapping her cup lightly with his own before taking a sip.

Nuva downed the sake in a single gulp, shuddered a bit, then refilled her cup. "That hits the spot." She said, going back to her half empty bowl of noodles. "So what's your name? I'm Nuva. And, I'm not actually from around here either. I'm an out-of-towner, if you will."

Zephyr took a bit more moderated approach, not to avoid inebriation, but to avoid some of the other effects alcohol seemed to have on him in higher amounts. Taking another sip of his drink, the effiminent stallion wipes his lips with a hoof. "Nice to meet you, Nuva. I'm Zephyr and I don't really hail from anywhere honestly."

Nuva chewed and swallowed her noodles before speaking again. "That must be nice. Not having any place to be tied down to." She said. "Ever since the war ended I've been wanting to pack up and just leave the place I live. There aren't many that are fond of my 'other half' if you catch my drift."

Zephyr nodded softly, taking another slurp of his noodles as he listen to her. He completely understood where she was coming from and could sympathize with her plight as a fellow hybrid. Swallowing his mouth full and taking another sip of his drink, the Zony sighed softly. "I know. There are many who aren't found of our kind, both in Equestria and elsewhere. But, as I have traveled, I've come to realize that it matters little as long as they refrain from acting on that distaste.." He giggles softly, a coy tone to his voice and a rogue-ish smirk on his face.

"Plus, as you've said, many also find our exotic charms..." His eyes fell upon her own with a mildly passionate gaze that, combined with his tone and expression, seem quite flirtatious. "...alluring."

A bit of red crept its way onto Nuva's face. Was that how she sounded when she flirted? She sure hoped so. "Yeah, it's pretty funny how many saps fall for the stripes. It's like we were born to be eye candy." She said, taking a sip from her cup.
