He had not been home in a long time. Now, straight from the field he had come home, a tall and tired man. Though he was proud of the work he did, there was only so long he could run around in the sand over in Afganistan. So many of his men had fallen, and that was something that made things quite difficult.

He still wore his Army uniform, having stopped at the cafe despite how tired he was to get something to drink. He ordered a coffee and once it was made, he sat down at one of the tables. He was strongly built, and though the face would have been handsome, now it was marred with scars from the time out on the field. They made him look quite a bit older than his twenty five years of age, most saw him as in his fourties.

His black hair was short, and the brown eyes watched the things going on around him warily.

I had been resting at one of the tables in the cafe. My bird Ree sat on my shoulder while the dingo pup Zara lay asleep on the table in front of me. My bag which i held close had a laptop, a few clothing items and food for both animals and myself within it. I had no home, i slept in the grass and walked to where i wanted to go.

I looked around seeing an man from the army walk in. He looked much older because of his scars but i guessed he was in his mid twenties. I myself was only 18 about i could sometimes look around two years older then i did. I softly touched Zara on her head and she opened her eyes and started a softly yelp wanting food. So i went though my bag but all i had was a very small potion of dried rabbit. I gave it to her but i knew she would soon be hungry again. I put a few bird seed on the table and Ree jumped down and ate them. I did not pull anything out for myself no i would wait to eat until later on.

He looked up at the sound of an animal yelping, eyes moving quickly to zoom in on the dingo inside the cafe. Then they met the person who sat there. She was a lot smaller than him, but she was rather pretty. Standing, he moved in that direction, knowing he had not met her before.

"Hello," he said, as he reached the table she was at.

I taped Zara on the nose playfully and watched her lick it try to find the small sweet. I looked at Ree making sure the bird was happy. Then got a little startled when someone said hello "hi" I looked at him with my bright green eyes. It was the same one who i had looked at before. I put my hand out to Ree and he climbed on, then fiddled around with Zaras tail.
Feeling a little odd i said "I'm Serafin or just Sera, The dingo's Zara and the birds Ree"

"May I sit with you, ma'am?" he asked. There were many things he was trained to be when it came to others outside the army, Polite was just one of them. He'd come from a well off family so that was something he had not had to learn like the rest of the cadets. It was something his parents had been proud of.

"They are different to what one might expect in a cafe..."

"Yes you may sit" i said and looked around. I was weary but only because of my past. I looked at him for a short time then looked back at Zara. I listened when he spoke "they aren't because Zara's a few weeks old can't leave her alone and Ree's a bird and left alone could fly off on me, had to ask a few times before they let me in here with them"

I looked at the man "Whats your name" i asked then played around with Zara tail waiting for an answer. Not that i could not help but notice that Ree was nibbling on my ear.

He smiled as she spoke of the animals for a few moments. It was interesting to hear, but that was something that everything would be at the moment.
When asked his name, it was fairly easy to answer. "General Fenrir March, ma'am." He smiled, knowing it was only right that he answered her questions. "I guess your bird could easily do that."

I looked at him then looked at Zara, I listened when he said his name and nodded "he could but never would, just used it as an excuse to get him in, little sweetly and very loyal" I smiled then thought a bit. I relaxed Looking at General Fenrir March. I put my hand into my bag and felt for the few coins i had left, I knew i had few and would have to find a little work but the work i wanted was not around yet.
I pulled my hand from the bag and out fell a small sketch book and landed facing up at a hand drawn picture of a black horse standing on a mountain, with a starless night. I thought i had lost it a long time ago when i sketched that picture and it was taken from me.

The eyes saw the book fall and he smiled, easily catching it before it hit the ground. He smiled though as he saw the picture, quickly putting it down on the table though. He knew it was not polite to look at someone else's notebook, they could easily be private there. He did not comment on the picture, he was too well trained to do such things normally without being asked about it.
"I just realised, you never told me your name though you know mine. What is it?"

I watched as he caught the note book then put it down on the table "You can look it's just a few pictures i drew when i was younger" i said opening it flicking though the pages myself i smiled a bit it had some of my best drawings in it. I looked up when he spoke "oh right my name is Serafin Rufus Walker, or more simply Sera" i said, i would have bowed as i said my name but i was sitting and would Most likely hit my head on the table if i did so. I stopped on the black stallion and ran my fingers very lightly over it, so not to smudge it "i remember this one, beautiful thing he was and i help him escape back to the wild where he belonged, he never had belong to those people.." i broke off then sighed. I did not like my past and come to think of it in truth i had only really just gotten away.

The eyebrows rose at the words she spoke about the stallion. "They were cruel to you?" he asked. He knew it was none of his business but he hated hearing things like this, especially when it came from a woman! There were some lines men just should not cross, and he knew that. "You don't have to to tell em if you don't want to."

He smiled lightly at her. There was something about her that made him not want to leave, yet he knew that getting to really know someone was not wise when it came to the job he had. Home one day, away the next, possibly dead the day after on the field. It was a risky job, but it was one that he enjoyed.

I looked at him with sad eyes when he asked were they cruel, I was brave but there was limits He went one to say i didn't have to tell him but i might as well "I was kidnapped when i was three, my whole life i have spent few a few men and yes they were cruel, i was dust to them" i smiled a little but it was a sad one then went on "that stallion was stolen a great prize, i was ten when i helped him escape, they found out and they beat me, at the time i had nothing to keep me company, only the rats that hang around in the basement"

I stopped then flicked back a few pages in my notebook, this one had a sad scene on it. It was a picture of a wolf with a young girl in it's mouth, "i had felt so weak to help myself this was what kept me going the fact that i could draw, it frightened them that i could do the detail so well, my pictures they draw the men in to much so they took my note book after i draw the horse a year after i got him free" I looked at General Fenrir March i could tell that he was the type who hated to hear these things.

He sighed as he heard the words. "Do you have any idea where the people you were taken from were? Maybe now that you're away from those pathetic excuses for humans, you could go back to where you were taken from?" He smiled as he saw the other picture. "You really are a good drawer." He smiled, he meant it. Though he wasn't frightened by the picture, he could see what she meant.

"no my memories of my home went with growing older, three is too young and i don't think i even remember what the men did to me when i was first taken" i said Then i touched Zara's head and smiled when he said i was a good drawer "Thanks i don't only draw but it's one of my favorite thing to do" I pulled a laptop from my bag and turned it on. I flicked very fast though it until i got to a folder and i opened it. I then turned it into a slide show turning so he could see my graphic design. I had so many there and they looked as life like as my drawings.

I pick up a pencil and pulled my note book to me and flipped it to a blank page. I quickly draw him as i saw, and that was on a battle field with a gun standing victorious. if he watched he would have seen my picture go from a basic sketch into a life like scene. I did a sun set as the back ground and a mountain rage in the back ground. Around him appeared the bodies of dead men and the grass appeared to be socked with blood. I looked at the black and white drawing wishing for the colours to keep going but i did not have any left so i would stick with this "see i know it was quick but it's my passion and i do it well" i said before tearing out the picture and giving it to him to keep.

He blinked as he saw the picture that she was drawing. It was something that completely surprised him. She had only just met him, and yet this was something she could draw?

"Just like that picture shows, victory never comes easy for someone in my profession. I lose more freinds that I would want to, but thats the way things are. I never really see it as a victory, more as an end to the fighting for a time."

There would always be more, and though he loved the job he had, losing men was not easy. "Losing people in the group is not exactly easy, its me that makes the house calls to their families."
