Hi all members

Delighted to have found the Liverpool City Police website. Having had a look and read it all. brought back a lot of memories for me of people and places during my years in Liverpool. Better not start off with individuals as I have so many names rattling in this brain !!!!!

Originally from North Wales, joined Liverpool Police cadets (Cadet 106) in May 1961, went to Bruche in July 1962 and then after Local Procedure Course at Mather Avenue, was posted to C Division (Lark Lane and Essex Street) as Con. 158"C" - I recall good and bad times there, some scary times, some hilarious times but was good learning experience. Was seconded to the plain clothes working from Warren Street in 1966 before returning to C Division.Promoted Sgt. 28"F" in September 1967 and then worked from Lawrence Road, Allerton and Belle Vale. Decided to emigrate to Australia and resigned April 1971.

Joined the Queensland Police Service 1971 and served in uniform and CID until I retired in 1992. Been back to UK a fair bit, last time was in 2010. Now living at Hervey Bay in Queensland, about 350kms from Brisbane.

Will hopefully download some old photos for you to peruse - my Cadet group from1961, Bruche 1962 and Local Procedure Course following Bruche - when my kids have shown me how - not really great with computers !!!

Pleased to hear from anyone: Teg1943@gmail.com

Hi Teg,
I certainly remember you, you were my first section sergeant at Lawrence Road I joined your section in April 1971 straight from Bruche and I had my first arrest with you on Smithdown Road, when you resigned and went to Australia I swapped my Liverpool City Police baton with you as it had a silver ferrule commemorating the officers that did not strike in the police strike of 1919 I always think of you and wish you well and continued good health Phil Letford Con 134 F

Hello, I'm new and lost ! probably writing in the wrong compartment.

My grandfather Thomas Power was a police constable in Liverpool who died in 1911. My father James Power, 8, and his siblings, Mary, 12 and Michael Laurence 4 went into the police orphanage in Woolton.
We have medals and newspaper cuttings about the funeral of my grandfather as he died from injuries sustained as a result of rescuing 2 children from a runaway bike on a street I later cycled to school on. A steepish hill in the city centre whose name escapes me at this minute. Fairclough Lane ? I'd be delighted to learn anything more about any of this.

Hi Anne. Welcome to the site. Do you know what area of the city Fairclough Lane (?) was in? If you still reside in the city you could try looking through the newspaper archives which are held on microfilm in the Records Office. This is currently housed on the 2nd floor of the World Museum in William Brown Street whilst the main library is being refurbished. I spend time there myself researching family history. Take a watch with you though as the hours just slip away. It costs nothing unless you want to print anything and then it is 30p per A4 sheet.
