![]() Gliscor looks like he could be part poison type. Though he is not poison type, your opponent will be feeling sick when one of these flying scorpions delivers its death sting on their team. Type: Ground/flying Abilities: Hyper cutter/sand veil Hyper cutter: Prevents the enemy pokemon from lowering Gliscors attack Sand veil: Evasion increases by 20% in a sand storm [MATTS CUSTOM SCREECH SET] Gliscor @ Leftovers/life orb Nature: Jolly [-sp atk +speed] :Hyper cutter 248hp/188speed/74atk ~Screech ~Stone edge/Ice fang ~Earthquake/Roost ~U turn/Swords dance This set probably isn't a great one, but I have trialed it before and it seems to work pretty well for me. The speed EVs allow you to outspeed 252speed EV adamant salamence, zapdos and all lucario. The idea is to use gliscor to switch into a counter. Make sure you have stealth rock up beforehand to maximise the amount of damage this set can do. Then screech whatever comes in. If you are slower, switch to a counter. If you are faster and you run U turn, U turn to a counter. If you are faster and don't need gliscor anymore, then do as much damage as you can. Usually, your opponent will switch to another counter so its often best to U turn. If you run Life orb and you have rocks up, you will be doing quite a lot of total damage to the poke that came in considering you get to switch to a counter without wasting a turn. The EV spread allows stone edge to 2HKO any gyarados, mence or DD dragonite with the help of stealth rocks. You could opt for Ice fang if you have gyara coverage in your team and you fear the dragons more. HP EVs give gliscor more bulkiness so he can be used as a decent physical wall too. 286 defence isnt bad off 0 ev. Plus, two of the most commonly seen moves, ground and fighting, are resisted by gliscor. For the third slot, its your choice of a STAB earthquake for that extra fire/steel/poison coverage or roost for recovering as your opponent switches. Rock and ground moves together provide good coverage so if you are running stone edge, it would be best to run earthquake as well. For your fourth move you can either run U turn for scouting as your opponent switches to remove the screech effect, or swords dance to set up as your opponent switches out. Swords dance is like putting screech back onto your opponent, so them switching out would be next to worthless, especially if you have rocks up. Its only beneficial to them if they bring in a counter to either OHKO you with speed and an ice move, a poke faster than you with enough power to finish you off, or if they can wall you completely. If they try to wall you completely, just use screech to get rid of them next turn. [OMG SPECS??] Gliscor @ Choice specs Rash [-sp def +sp atk] :Sand veil 252sp atk/218speed/40atk ~Dark pulse ~HP fire ~Earthquake ~U turn This is a gimmick set I invented. There certainly isnt much a specs gliscor can do, other than get a few surprise kills. Skarmory walls the crap out of normal gliscors, so this one has been equipped with HP fire to kill off skarms in 2 shots. Dark pulse will OHKO gengar, who walls this set completely due to the fact that the other moves do next to nothing to it. you could have sludge bomb, but the other moves provide decent enough coverage so its not recommended. Earthquake is your STAB move, which is why rash was chosen over modest. Rash was also chosen because gliscors sp def isn't great anyway so theres little difference. Earthquake provides fire, rock, steel and poison coverage, and aids in heatran killing. U turn is for when you are unsure of what to do. the speed EVs let you outspeed adamant lucario. [BATON PASS] Gliscor @ leftovers Jolly [-sp atk +speed] :hyper cutter 252HP/188speed/70atk ~Rock polish/swords dance ~Stone edge/earthquake/taunt ~Earthquake/swords dance/rock polish ~Baton pass I mixed up the EV spread of the smogon set. Speed EVs let you outspeed adamant mence, zapdos and all lucario. your first move slot is for a stat boostiong move. pick either rock polish to benefit all of your sweepers or swords dance to prepare for a physical sweep. For your second move, you can either have stone edge to hit mence and gyarados + any other flying types, Earthquake for a good STAB move, or taunt to screw over counters like skarmory and friends who try to set up on you. your third move can be your STAB move if you decided to run taunt or stone edge, or the second stat boosting move for extra support options. with taunt on your side, you shouldnt have to worry about taunters. The attack investment is there if you decide not to run taunt or your second support move. That way, if you predict a taunt coming your way, you can respond with an attack and wipe the smile off the taunters face. Ice fang is viable for your second option if you need extra dragon and grass coverage. [PHYSICAL WALL] Gliscor @ leftovers Impish [-sp atk +def] :Sand veil 252HP/252def/6atk ~Stealth rock/swords dance ~Earthquake ~Ice fang/aerial ace ~roost Credit goes to smogon for this set, but the physical wall set is always worth a mention becasue walling is gliscors main purpose. Stealth rock is used to rip flying and ice type pokemon apart. that way, If they decided to come in on gliscor or another of your pokes, they will be badly hurt in the process. Or if you already have a rocker in your team, you can use swords dance in its place to power up your attacking moves (an option smogon didnt add). Earthquake and Ice fang cover the dragon, grass, flying, rock, fire, steel and ground pokes. thats 8 types off just 2 moves, which is a fair amount of types. If you fear fighting types more however, you can scrap Ice fang for aerial ace, which will also cover bug types too, but at the cost of dragon, ground and flying coverage. Your last move should be roost because you want your wall to last, and roost is a great self recovery move for any wall like gliscor. If you decide to run swords dance, this beast has potential to become a great sweeping wall. [MATTS CUSTOM SUB SALAC/LEICHI SWEEPER] Gliscor @ salac berry/leichi berry Jolly [-sp atk +speed] :Hyper cutter 252attack/188speed/70HP [HP IVs 31] ~Substitute ~Roost/Ice fang ~Earthquake ~Stone edge Another gimmick set I created. This set requires a swords dance or an agility/rock polish to be baton passed to it for the best results. Jolly is chosen to help the salac set outspeed scarfed lucario and salamence. HP EVs and IVs allow hp to be divisible by 4, letting you sub only 3 times to get the berry boost. The second slot can be for roost, since you will be fast enough off rock polish or salac boost to get the HP back before getting hit. Also, gliscor is bulky so roost can prove handy. Or for extra coverage, just go ice fang. third and fourth are straight forward, good old STAB move and rock/ground coverage combo. [CHOICE BAND] Gliscor @ Choice band Adamant [-sp atk +atk] :Hyper cutter 252attack/218 speed/40 HP ~Ice fang ~Thunder fang ~Earthquake ~U turn The adamant version of smogon's CB set. this thing packs trumendous power for a bulky sweeper. Not only that, the coverage provided is amazing too. You have the bolt beam fangs for coverage purposes and you are able to OHKO gyarados with thunder fang and the Dragon/flying types with Ice fang. Earthquake is for a powerful STAB move and kills the magnezones who resist the bolt beam combo. U turn if you are unsure of what to do. Once again, speed EV lets you outspeed adamant lucario OPINION: Gliscor is one of the best physical walls in the game, resisting many types of attacks (other than ice) and walling the feared CB heracross. It is the best heracross wall in OU in my opinion as a CB heracross with guts boost can 2HKO a skarmory with close combat, but only 3HKO gliscor. OTHER OPTIONS: Gliscor does carry night slash if you want to try and kill off cress rather than switch. You can also run fire fang to actually DO SOMETHING to steel walls like skarm and zong, however this isnt recommended due to the fact that the moves purpose is only to hurt them. EV SPREAD RECOMMENDATIONS: If you are using a jolly sweeper set, always give it 188speed EV to outspeed all pokemon that can make 299 speed with a + nature (lucario and salamence). Other than that, it depends on what kind of gliscor spread you want from there. COUNTERS: Skarmory walls the absolute shit out of gliscor, as does bronzong. also, many water types can wall gliscor to an extent as they often carry ice beam to dispose of it. Cresselia can also counter it, taking very little damage off all variations of gliscor. My second speculation. what do you guys think? |
