We have our own unique Pokemon Analysis, called Pokemon Speculation. Our members are very creative, one even created a Pachirisu that kills Garchomp! We have a Point System! The Point System is used to buy stuff from other members, such as Signatures, PokeSav'd pokemon, legit pokemon, and shineys!

AL's EV thread

What are Evs and How do they work?
Most of you already know but for those who don't, EVs are effort values which are basically points that you pokemon get when they battle other pokemon. Each pokemon have their own set amount of point(s). For example, if you battle a zubat, it give 1 speed point for beating it. 4 points= 1 stat point and each pokemon can only gain 510, (which I think is a little wierd but whatever) and 255 max in each stat. For EVs each pokemon gives visit serebii.net/pokedex-dp/ and click one of the black box stats.

Are EVs really Important?
EVs are not Important, unless you want to win. EVs allow your pokemon to reach their max potential.

Ok, how do I EV train?
There's alot of ways to do it. There's power Items, Macho Brace, pokerus etc. The easiest way is probably Macho-rus, the using of both pokerus and macho Brace. The reason is pokerus multiplys EVs by 2 and so does macho brace, which is a multiplyer of 4. So that a whole stat every battle of pokemon with 1EV, and 2 for battles with 2 EVs, Etc.

OK where are the best spots?
Usually it depends on personal opinion but the spots Im including are...
HP-For this KILL BIDOOF. You Hate them already especially on route 201. Get revenge on those little basterds for popping up in your face so often in the beginning of the game.
ATK-Personally this is the best I could do but machops on route 207. They are somewhat common. Sorry if this isn't the "best" but it's still pretty good.
DEF-Oreburgh Gate, mostly low level geodudes in this cave.
SPATK-Old Chateu (the room with the eyes) because all you find are gastlys and evos which all give off spatk. The room with the eyes because gengars can be found which by the way, give off 3 Stat points if your using Macho-rus.
SPDEF-Anywhere tentacool(cruels) are present. Since they are found practically everywhere there is no specific spot.
SPE-Ravaged Path, the cave on route 204. Mostly Zubats 4-7 but annoying with supersonic(5 and up) if you have pokemon under 10. Starlys on route 201 also work. There is also lake acuity which has lv4+ staravias.

There are other spots, but I want to keep it simple. Since these are the simple spots, it makes them the best in my opinion, only because the pokemon appear frequently. Please note that these spots might not be the same in platnium.

Ok what spreads should I use?
Depends on the pokemon. Unless you want to do calculations, its best to have someone do them for you or help you, which is what Give me a Spread Thead is for, located in Competitive Team Rate Section of the Forum, hope this helped.

HP: Surf on route 212, Wooper-1 Quagsire-2
Attack: Chaining Shinx-1
Defense: Hiker Kevin on route 207, uses 3 Geodude, 1 Onix, Total 4 evs
Sp. Attack: Old Cheatue, Gastly-1
Sp. Defense: Beauty Devon, route 214, she has 3 Wormadams, Total 6 evs
Speed: The magikarp guy near the second gym town (Can't think of the name)

Acctually the most reliable way to Ev train is Power-rus, but you must use the correct power item. Say a pokemon with 1 speed Ev, if you use the correct power Item and pokerus that equals 10 Ev points. 2 Ev's equal 12, and 3 Ev's equal 14. Whereas if you use macho-rus 1 Ev only equals 4, 2 Ev's only equal 8, and 3 Ev's only equal 12.

A really great place for speed is surfing inside Victory Road. Only Golbats (or Floatzel in Plat) are found, which give 2 Speed Evs each.

For Special attack, surfing to find Golducks at the Resort Area is great, as they are the only things available there and give 2 SpAtk Evs each.

Though the only real problem with the those are the levels so unless you can waste rare candies you can't really do that to Ev quickly.

Tentacool/Tentacruel is good SpD for low levels.

Although you recieve more from power-rus, macho-rus is easier to keep track of.

Special attack: Old Chateau. Battle Gastly for 1 point, Haunter for 2 points and the occasional Gengar for 3 points.

Those 3 are the only pokes in the Old Chateau.

Speed: Left of Oreburgh, inside Mt Coronet. Surf on the water path and battle Zubat and Golbat. Levels 20-40, so you can raise weak pokes too.

Attack: Use a super rod in the water patch above Jubilfe city. Gyarados and Seaking are the only pokes that will appear. Levels 30-55, they yield 2 points each.
