Shut up. Making excuses doesn't make you look any better, and I'd really not like this thread to get locked. We can always, of course, make another thread, but as long as there are still some legitimate comments being made I'd like myself and others to respond to them without having to skip past posts consisting of nothing but an off-topic argument about 'American arrogance' and shit. Whenever someone flames you, ignore it and move on, because starting a flame war only leads to shit and more shit.

If anyone resumes the flaming I'm asking the first admin/mod who sees it to lock this thread immediately. This is too far out of hand already.

Normal Discussion

I'm eager to hear opinions on this movie whenever you all see it, I wasn't sure of the release date in Australia.

Has anyone here seen all the Bond films so far?

Seen all of them, own 15 of them. They are all from the older DVD collection though, the five that I am missing are extremely difficult to find.

In other news, I've played "You Know My Name" 25 times in iTunes, and listened to it as my ringtone another 7. Such a great song... I'm gonna get sick of it if I don't stop... I wouldn't want that to happen.

Overall, I loved Casino Royale. After lumpunzik explained alot of it to me, (I have no idea what any of the specific stuff is... I have seen about two movies, and not read any books...) I liked it even more.

***SPOILER... NOT REALLY... JUST SOME QUOTES AND VAGUE REFERENCES TO SCENES****

"Not to worry. The Second..."
*Brief Scene of Ownage*
"Yes. Considerably."

Ironically, the scene with the torture of Bond was... Ballsy. Ironic, eh?

***END SPOILER***

The End.

Did anyone else see the Richard Branson cameo. He's the guy at the airport at the metal detector. You only see him for a split second as the camera pans.

Please clarify what you mean by "not a true bond film."?
is it because it is a remake or because it is actually based off a book

For the record, the original film based on the book was NOT part of the actual James Bond franchise. Hence the 2006 release isn't really a remake.

Well well well, you ARE an observant little otter, aren't you? Come on. The choice of shot and timing of the editing is practically a message from the director. "Look at me, Richard Branson is in my film, CAMEO!"

In conclusion, if you didn't notice the blatantly obvious entrepreneur-placement in Casino Royale, give your eyeballs and brain to someone who can make better use of them.

Just to let you know, I had to use Firefox's Spellcheck to spell 'America'... Apparently, I'm stupider than I thought.

Casino Royale is a reboot of the series. The events in the film are not designed to precede Dr. No or any other Bond films, as in a prequel; instead, they establish a new timeline and narrative framework.

I'm salivating at the mouth, imagining the new aesthetic (and lead actor) displayed in 'Casino Royale' extended into a series of films without the restrictive Bond formula.

Interestingly, I believe Craig specified before signing on that he wanted to develop the character quite dramatically, over the course of his contract (3 or 4 films.)

An excellent step towards Bond-Glory.
