As with all dramatizations of history. However, it is much closer to historical accuracy than the play. |

Colors Sean Penn, Robert Duvall 1988 film about the elite anti-gang/drug C.R.A.S.H. unit of the Los Angeles Police Department (filmed before the Rampart scandal, so they're portrayed as relatively non-corrupt). Deals heavily with the ghetto environment and the relations between police and the Bloods and Crips gangs. Excellent acting and writing. Sean Penn kicks serious gangster arse for the majority of the film, but it's tasteful. 9/10 |

Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End Major spoiler warning: Important plot points revealed, read at your own risk. Note that there are numerous good and bad things I thought about this film, but overall I think it was a good conclusion of the series. The exposition of the film was really elongated. The rescue of Jack Sparrow from Davey Jones' locker was well into the film and was literally just the beginning of the whole plot. Many other scenes were also elongated, the worst of which were the ones where there were slow dialogs with the characters constantly betraying and re-allying with each other. (Honestly, pick up the pace and quit wasting screen time. Put in an action scene for all I care.) There were also several bizarre sub-plots, like the whole "pirate king" deal, Calypso (although Bill Nighy's involvement with this sub-plot was a nice touch), blah blah blah. Some were still good, others were roughly introduced, and one (the mysterious death of the Kraken) still has yet to be explained. Acting: There is a lot of good and not so good in it. Geoffrey Rush and Bill Nighy both gave extremely good performances and made up for some of the less-appreciable ones, Like Kiera Knightley, who does a terrible job of showing emotion when Will dies (She cries for 5 seconds at most). How ridiculous. The final battle was very good, if not for the absurd things in and around it (Barbossa marrying Will and Elizabeth, the whole Calypso deal, and the fact that the Flying Dutchman and the Black Pearl were the only two ships that actually fought in the entire 30-minute battle.) Will becoming the captain of the Flying Dutchman was unexpected, but it was also a good way to finish the story. The last scene of Barbarossa and Sparrow (separately) seeking the fountain of youth was a smart afterthought-leaving finish. It'll be good if they leave this series at three films. Despite all this, it is still an entertaining film, and great popcorn flick. An improvement on the second film, but still not as good as the first. 8/10 |

A very nice conclusion, lumpy. I liked it too. I watched it twice, though. Don't do that too close to each seeing, or your head'll spin. The kracken was killed by Jones, lumpy. The admiral mentioned 'killing your pet' when he first boarded the Flying Dutchman and took control. It's inferred as such, that Jones did as such. I too, hated all the betrayals and such. Watching the film a second time cleared everything up, but it was way to confusing the first time. I also hated the lack of armada at the climax. The effects were not that good when Jack hallucinated though... They were to fictional. The opacity was too high on the duplicates, even I could have fixed that with my $200 Adobe program. But the scene of the admirals' death was very, VERY well done and dramatic. Although kinda stupid, I liked it. "It's.. Just good business." 9/10 And I'm sure they won't make another... They better not. |

Children of Men Incredibly successful film in almost every aspect, most especially visually. If I was to pick one thing that I didn't like (which is nearly impossible) it was a few patches of inane and inappropriate dialogue. Should read the novel. 9/10 |

Hoop Dreams I watched it in my media class. Loved it. It was slow at some points but enjoying nevertheless. It was Ebert's best movie of the 90's. I would recommend it to everyone, even those people that don't like sport (Mars, maybe Euro). 9/10 I am a serbian cocksucker. |

Don't confuse my lack of participation (over the last year or so) in club sport as an indication of whether I like or dislike it. However, sports films almost always suck, which is why I'd be apprehensive. |

Yes, but trust me this movie rocks. Its not the ordinary sport movie like uh, Like Mike or football game, its a documentary about to black teens who live in the housing estates trying to make it to the big league. Just so you know there have been awesome sports movies. Remember the Titans is excellent, baseketball is hilarious and to a lesser extent Coach Carter was good as well. |

I have to second the Coach Carter dismissal. I gouged both my eyes out at the party scene. What's all this now:
"Great minds.." Snatch Guy Ritchie is a tool, but he makes good movies. This was like Lock Stock, but I see Lock Stock now as a draft version of Snatch. The latter film does the whole "London gangster" scene a lot better. Better villains, better humour, better action. Also, Dennis Farina (Law and Order, Get Shorty). Plus an Irish Brad Pitt. 8/10 |
