Saw 300, it was awesome.

8/10 - not too much of a real storyline, but awesome graphics, effects, and there was SOME storyline.

This could be surmised by just using the latter. Oh and the "awesome" graphics and effects doesn't really qualify that much for rating a movie. Its not a video game you know. And also, anyone can make fake heads fall off with tomato sauce coming out of it and stuff.

Boyz N The Hood

A bitter insight into the black ghetto life of the early nineties. It pushes past the glamour talked (and rapped) about by so many and shows - to quote from a character - "some seriously fucked up shit."

No matter how many times you sit through the three-hours of genius that this utter masterpiece of cinema is made up of, you're always left wanting more. Both Pacino and DeNiro cannot be insulted by mere praise, so I dare not begin.

Dogma

Entertaining Kevin Smith film with all the regulars. It's an adaptation of biblical proportions about two fallen angels (Affleck and Damon) who have found a loophole enabling them to go back to heaven. To cut a long story short if this happens everyone will explode into nothingess so it is up to Snape - I mean Alan Rickman (as metatron) and some girl to team up with Jay and Silent Bob and save the world. Excellent fun. The ending goes on a bit though.

i dunno why i even bothered. oh yeh, one of my friends said dis film was really good, but it turned out to be a pile of drivel. mindless blood spilling, lame acting and heavily stock type characters. eh, at least it had blood.

Blood Diamond

Pretty weak, and lacking in originality. A good concept that would have been delivered successfully if made by the Brits. Too many ridiculous American cinema cliches, the worst of which being a comment made by a sarcastic Sierra Leone bushman "She reminds me of my wife"...I mean, come on guys, this isn't a Sandler movie. However DiCaprio and the film's excellent action sequences relegate it to at least an 'interesting' level of entertainment.

Statements like that anger me to the core. Don't generalise an entire country's work on the basis of one director's shoddy film.

DISTURBIA
6.5/10

jst saw it. it could've been a lot better, but then again it could've been a lot worse. on tv da trailers make it look like a horror, while in general it is actually 3/4 comedy, while da rest is action. da suspense builds up, but then it's apparent dat da whole thing is a joke. a modern tale retelling of Rear Window. not good, not bad. da only reason its not a 5 cos da asian dude in it is hilarious.

Great, it makes the statement worth stating. I'll be specific then, 'if it were made by Paul Greengrass.'

Half Nelson

Pretty interesting American indie film about a Middle School history teacher, who is struggling to get a grip on his life, and battle drug abuse. Most of the film is based around his relationship with one of his female students, and the isolation that surrounds them. Awesome soundtrack, all by Broken Social Scene. My only criticism would be that certain sequences were drawn out needlessly, and hand-held got a little shoddy at points.

The Warriors

Oh Xenu how can I describe this gem, this perfect bloody gem in the rough. In the near future (released in 1979, so it looks 80s), gangs rule the streets of New York. Stranded after a giant gang meeting goes horribly wrong on the other side of the island, rogue gang the Warriors must fight their way back home. Only 20,000 cops and 100 000 gangmembers stand in their way. Brilliant soundtrack, cinematography, acting, violence, mood.

"Warriors, come out to plaaay-aay..."
