Yeah. I just hacked the hell out of my iPod.

When I synced it to my new library on my laptop yesterday, iTunes went crazy. I guess I'll have to wait awhile for better support with Vista. Anyway, it said it was done.

Today, I got out my iPod to listen to some awesome Ben Folds, and guess what! There was nothing on my iPod. It skipped over every song I tried to play. So I went to 'Songs' and made it skip until it found something. 15 minutes later, I was listening to a Pink Floyd song. It cracked and died halfway through. That's it. half of a Pink Floyd song.

When I got home from school today, I fixed that. Now my iPod has about 40 GB of shit back on it. I had to restore it, which mean re-hacking the old parts of my iPod. All I really had hacked was all the blue stuff was green.

Today, I changed the background of the playing bar to, you guessed it, Hippie Rainbow. It actually looks nice. I also hacked some icons in front of my strings. There's little musical notes in front of 'Music' and icon for Photos, Videos, Notes, Settings, and every other Main Menu item. The list goes beyond that, too. I'm really impressed at how easy it was.

Now I'm trying to learn how to hack the top part of my iPod, where it displays 'Now Playing'. I can hack to say 'Stormbreaker's iPod' with a background behind it. I'm still waiting for some help from a guy named Joker X.

Comments? Anyone here hack their iPod?

I put linux on it for a laugh a while back. Bearing in mind that I have no experience with linux at all, it was quite the spectacle. After a week I got sick of Doom in 2 colours so I switched it off. Fucking penguin.

if youre talking about minis, my friend had problems too. the 2nd gen gaves hackers a run for their money.

@ Euro: apple offers an extended warranty for more money. all your really paying for is apple to respond to your emails when you tell them your ipod is broken. they wont replace it or anything. modifying the firmware on your ipod voids the warranty, btw.

@ El: i use ipod wizard. they have a large community. its easy to upload and modify the images and text strands you are used to seeing on your ipod. their massive forums provide great support, and excellent tutorials, even some downloadable theme stuffs like the icons i got!
