I've been thinking about creating something like this for awhile, and now that my short term memory has actually served me I had one of those little 'might as well' moments.

Tell about yourself. Where you come from, where you've been, your interests, how your life is, etc. Remember, you're not obligated to post.

Me name's Matt, I live in America in the state of Missouri. I'm a hardcore libertarian and auto enthusiast. I enjoy playing golf, swimming, listening to classic rock, and flipping off rich stupidasses who think they're good drivers just because they have a $40,000+ car.

I'm a lifeguard at a pool near where I live, and when I got paid last I got about a dollar more per hour than I should because the payroll idiots listed my occupation as 'Community ed instructor'. But hey, I'm not complaining about more cash in my pocket.

That's as far as I'm going to go for now. Post away... at your own risk.

Excellent idea. It wasn't really appropriate in debate though, so I moved it to "Chat" so we can "Chat" about each other...It may have spiraled to a personal flamefest in Debate.

My name's Sam and I live in Melbourne, Australia. Where have I been? Through Europe, the West coast of the US, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vanuatu and to most of the cities in Australia. I'm interested in music, photography, film, writing, politics, literature and generally raging against the machine *cough*.

I work pretty regularly at a publishing house doing monotonous jobs like mailouts etc. and most weekends making pizzas in a gourmet store near my house...every few months I write book reviews for a university journal, but that's kind of inconsistent so it doesn't really count as a job.

I couldn't begin to complain about my life...I have endlessly satisfying material possessions, fantastic friends, a loving (and occasionally abusive) family and I go to a school I actually like...Everything is basically swell.

That's it.

My name's Ed, and I'm an alco-

Wrong speech. Sorry fellas.

My name's Ed, and I'm a sex ad-

Shit! I'm sorry lumpy. I'm ruining your beautiful thread.

Okay, here goes it. I live in the same occasionally great location as the European Wench here, (literally a couple blocks away) and enjoy life half of the time. I attend the same school... take the same route. Might as well be conjoined. Toilet time would be a whole world of fun.

I've been to Japan (Narita), China (Beijing, Dalian) .. and more recently and to the present, the United States (San Francisco, New York). I've been around Australia, seen most of what there is to offer. I like Redcliffs (half my family heritage goes way back in typical True Blue fashion). I visited my grandmother's grave there once. Other than that it's farming land. Sydney was pretty cool, I have relatives there too. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Cairns is Satan's anus' anus. Never, I mean never, prospective tourists, go to fucking Cairns.

I'm unemployed and seeking employment. I enjoy music, film, selected television, computers, my great friends, news and politics, seeing amazing shit (like Central Park... ye gods) and not drinking fine wine. I also have a great passion for comedy and writing. I spend too much time pissing about on MAD (but how can I not when threads like this exist) and often I wonder whether the whole damn site is really worth all the effort.

I'm most often than not an atheist, although I'll freely admit that my views can quaver when pondering the universe. I definitely do not believe in any of humankind's petty inventions, however. Politically I mostly fit in to the category of "liberal", but often I get rampantly libertarian on issues like free speech and all that jazz. I have a dubious mental state regarding life and its highs and lows which I won't go into in this medium, but suffice it to say that like the frenchman, I have excellent friends (which contribute highly to my happiness) and a good education that is often placed in jeopardy due to my laziness.

I look forward to a life that I hope will unfold without too much negativity and lots of prosperity.

This could perhaps be renamed into MAD Cafe 2.0 as it goes on. We'll see.

Anyway. Moving on.

My name's Mark, I'm 16 years old, and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I too live near Mars and European guy. Now, sespite living in a country dominated by Australian Rules Football, possibly the stupidest game on the planet, I am passionate about soccer (real football) and my team, Melbourne Victory. I play a fair bit, both indoor and outdoor, and wear the number 1 shirt for all my teams. As well as following the A-League in Australia, I enjoy watching the toils of European clubs in the UEFA Champions league, and love watching both Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo in their primes. Right now the pride of our nation, the Australian national football team, is competing in the pinnacle of Asian football, the Asian Cup, where we hope to win our first major piece of silverware.

Aside from football, I do a lot of kayaking. I'm aiming to make the Victorian (State) team by next year, and to make the Australian team in the future. An insight to my toils as a paddler can be found here.

At school I study generic subjects at the moment, such as science, maths, english, history, as well as commerce, Visual Communication and Design, and Indonesian. Over the next two years I plan to undertake a science related course, and hopefully study either teaching or a science/sports science based degree at university.

Outside of sport and school, two things which take up a lot of my time, I don't mind pputting the pen to paper and jotting down a few things - No doubt some of you have read some of my works. Writing is always something I have enjoyed and been good at, and at the moment I am planning for my next big thing - or perhaps my first real big thing. More on that in a few months time.

My travels have taken me from New Zealand to France and England, back to Sydney, Byron Bay in northern New South Wales, Australia, and many other locations in between.

Like Mars, I have no job, but my hope is that I can write something amazing and not have to worry about a part-time job, and just reap the rewards from writing.

Anyway, that's it for me, I'm off to do something that is just a tiny bit less pointless than this. Having said that, I appreciate your idea, Lumpy, good thread. No joke.

And out.

Alrighty, time to finish this now that I've had a little nap.

The only country I've ever been in during my life is America. Pitiful I know. I have a desperate need to smell some fresh air on another continent. However, I know my country well as I've traveled pretty much everywhere except up in the northeast and northwest.

On the average day, at any given moment, I'm likely to be either: exercising, sitting on my ass, or posting on MAD. Or a combination of the three, who knows. Sadly I don't hang out with people as much as I used to, mostly because of my busy work schedule (I have another job as a swimming instructor). But I do what I can.

Just today I had an opportunity to go to Storm's house but due to an inconvenient allergy shot that he had to get, I couldn't go. Ah well, I (still) need to finish that AP lit essay anyway.

So, how were your days, everybody?

Except for my mother being pissed like hell, good. You could have come over at 3, but she wanted me to finish that essay first. I finished the first paragraph about three hours ago...

Excellent idea, lumpy.

My name's Ed, and I'm an alco-

I thought I saw you at one of those AA meetings...

Alrighty, now that I got those unnecessary comments out of the way, allow me to talk about (wonderful) myself.

My name is Rory. Yes that is a 'boy' name. Although it was the name of a girl on Gilmore Girls, who, by happenstance, got pregnant. How do I know this? *ahem.*

I'm 16 years old and a lazy bum, who just renewed his permit today... I don't have all 40 hours of driving in to get my license... I have no incentive to drive, unlike my best friend here. Lumpunzik right down the (third) street from me. We go to the same school, but take different routes. Our school is public and horrible ultimately. But it's the best in the area, for that matter. I wish our (the U.S.) had as good of education system as Australia... From what I hear, it's very nice there...

I have no left the U.S. like lumpy. I was born right down the street from here, and have lived here since. I've been north, northwest, westish, south, southwestish, southeastish, and eastish... Although I've never gone completely east or west...

I am an active member of the Lafayette Lancer Regiment. Aka BAND. I play the trumpet and am rather talented if I may say so myself. I'm in the marching band (which starts in a week, damnit), jazz band, basketball band, play/theatre band, big orchestra thingy, and the higher of the two band classes. Yeah, I'm a certified band-geek.

I haven't been able to hang out with friends a lot this summer, and it's bumming me out, cause I've been wanting to bad. I've missed 4 opportunities to go to friends' lake houses, and just got back from living hell vacation with my family. Oh yeah: and band camps in two weeks. My section leader is on his way over to deliver the music as I write this.

On the upside, I got an iPhone. And have joined the other 699,999 people begging Apple for updates. :) I have a (mostly) loving family, with three awesome siblings.

I would call my like perfect, like Euro, if my laptop wasn't broken. Seriously. This is the most stressful thing in my whole life. Hopefully it will be resolved by the end of the week, though.

I currently work at a BBQ restaurant, which is awesome cause I get paid above minimum wage + tips + at least $50 buck of BBQ a night.

My friend just got here, YEAH I GOT MY MUSIC!

Yeah, so due to my awesome last night, I go by Purple Haze: the coolest cat you'll ever know. /sarcasm

I tend to enjoy life to the fullest when possible. I am Christian, but not decided as to what specifically... Like Mars, I like thinking of the big picture, or at least trying to.

I enjoy writing for fun, and sometimes for assignments, and I always enjoy a good read, although I find I'm very picky about books I like.

Can't think of very much now...

I like just about all music except rap... I like Ben Folds, Radiohead, Yes, Genesis, and Led Zeppelin to name a few...

I enjoy comedy, as indicated by my amazing new signature.

That's all for now,

Storm out.

My name is Aaron, and I live in El Paso, Texas, America. I am of Canadian and "Hick" descent, so I go to either Canada or Michigan once a year. I was born in Indiana. At 14 years old, I am one of the youngest members of this forum.

I've been thinking about a few things a lot lately, some of those religion and politics. When it comes to politics, I'm leaning a lot more towards the Conservative side, but I'll admit that some of that comes from my family. I am Christian, but don't really enjoy "fellowship," as my parents would put it. I don't even consider myself a member of my church, but I am pretty knowledgeable about my beliefs, having grown up in a strong, church-going family.

I am too young to get myself a decent job this summer, so in my spare time, which is much of it, I write, draw, dabble in photography, and have even tried my hand at painting. I also play a lot of computer games, usually FPS's.

Music-wise, I am interested in mainly Post-Rock and Electronica, and some mainstream rock. Thanks to Euro, I now know of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, which, in a manner of speaking, opened to door to other post-rock bands. Oh yeah, and ambient. I also listen to a lot of ambient music, like Brian Eno and 1 Mile North. When it comes to mainstream, it's pretty much The Smiths, Muse, Radiohead and Pink Floyd.

I can't think of much else to say, but I'd like to point out that the absolute best summer snack (or winter, anytime of year is fine) is Monster energy drink and sunflower seeds.
Guess what! I'm writing a book called Nuclear Winter!

What? It would have been a lot more descriptive AND a shorter read.

And OGS, if I live three streets away from lumpunzik, one would assume his description of St. Louis, MO would suffice.

Yeah, it's out in the middle of nowhere. I haven't gone skiing on an actual mountain... Except once. That was in Michigan on a ski team trip. I really only joined the ski team to learn how to not ski like shit. Now the only place I go is this place called 'Hidden Valley'. It's basically a big hill on a golf course, but it's where 'everyone' goes, and it's alright. No one will go with me on the double-diamond courses, though... ;)

What I really want to do is go to Colorado, probably Denver. I know some people that take a trip there ever year or so, some I'm gonna try to go with them this year.

What about you, OGS? Get much snow in Australia?

To add to my post:

I'm pretty much apathetic when it comes to politics. That doesn't mean I don't have a say, or that I don't care. It just means I'm too lazy to figure out what the hell I am.

Speaking of which, on July 4th of this year (Independence day, my ass) the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) gave up on net neutrality. Basically: now broadband providers can charge websites to be seen on the web, something they didn't have to pay for. It gets real complicated but from what I hear it's making the rich richer and the internet even less accessible to the people. (Most Americans can only choose between one or two companies...) So basically, the FTC is saying the market will work its course, when it's not. Bah humbug.

And my dream vacation involves going to Australia and meeting Mars, OGS, Nova, Euro, and GG. (Notice I didn't say anything about blowjobs.)

No, your dad is a good driver.

I'm talking about high-rollers and rich teenagers who are such bad drivers that they shouldn't be on the road. "Oh, I'm soooo cool because I drive so poorly, I endanger both myself and other drivers around me."

I go to a little place in Colorado called Steamboat Springs every couple of years, it's quite nice up there. Lots of snow in the winter and fantastic mountain biking in the summer. And very fresh smelling air, particularly in the morning. Nice hot springs for relaxing in as well. Oh yeah and tubing down the river. Hell, there's so much I can't even list it without sounding redundant.

We get nothing in populated areas. There are mountains and country towns however that see a bit of snow sometimes.
