Fairly simple to install (to your iPod or iPod shaped mp3-player), and the result is - you can play gameboy/gameboy color games, and doom wads on your iPod, as well as different themes you can get working to change your iPod interface.

Has anybody else tried this?
Guess what! I'm writing a book called Nuclear Winter!

That's a pretty stupid thing to say.

Yeah, I've tried it. The default themes are atrocious. I couldn't get the gameboy emulator to work, but maybe it was just my iPod. Can't remember if 5g's were supported. iPodLinux can do the same stuff, and if you install Loader2, at bootup, you can choose which firmware to boot (Apple, Linux, Rockbox.) The MPD (Music Player Daemon) for iPL is awful, since it doesn't precache the next song for quick playing, so it wastes tons of battery.
I don't like printers.

I tried installing iPodLinux and gave up. I couldn't get any of the iBoy functions to work there!

Rockbox now has support for 5g's (I've got one), and some of the custom themes (particularly Black Glass nonAA) are pretty good. I'm playing Doom 2 on it, as well as Rockboy, for which my favorite game is Resident Evil Gaiden.

I downloaded rockbox, but have not tried it. The appeal for me is use of the ogg format, as I have some radio plays in that format.... but I have not had the time to try it out. I have installed ipodlinux, but had problems with it, so currently using the default browser.

I just got it yesterday and I've got BLack Glass and THeme X (and Glow, too).

It's awesome. Now I can play my pokemans anywhere! (And I do.)

I'm dual booting my ipod! W00t!

I'll install it on my iPod when the warranty runs out.

So you better remind me on June 1st, 2008.

Pssh. The warranty doesn't do shit for you. They won't fix anything. That's how it goes.

That's why my iPod is hacked to the fullest.

Yeah, and you can delete all traces of it (so long as your iPod works enough for your computer to recognize it) with either disk restore or some uninstalling process with ipodpatcher.exe

u + enter

simple

But Apple has cheated at least five of my friends out of service with their iPods... They make tons of money on a basically worthless warranty. Enjoy life. Get Rockbox.

I installed it, and it works fine for playing mp3s, but I have no idea where I'm supposed to get the plugins for viewers like .txt and .jpeg. The site seems to claim they all come in the .rar I downloaded, but they aren't there. I didn't download the daily build though, so maybe that's it :S

Yeah go to the current one. Get it for your iPod. The file browser automatically opens files like .txt .jgp and .gbc and stuff. It's awesome.

You can only heal your pkmn if you have sound on, or the rom freezes for some reason...

Direct link, please? I can't find it. I tried clicking the daily thing, and it didn't help at all. Am I supposed to choose the one that says iPod Video 64mb, instead of just iPod Video?

I have an 80 gig.

My iPod mini broke with 4 months left on the warranty. They fixed it at no cost except the small postage fee.
