This thread's for off topic questions. Use it as you must.

In Australia the year is divided into four school terms, each approximately 10 weeks long. Term 1 starts in early February.

Terms 1-3 have 2 week breaks in between, whereas Term 4 (which ends around November/December) lasts for 8 weeks (covering Christmas and New Year, etc)

This system differs slightly from state to state. I've just described the Victorian model.

I don't know what ours is called but we have six six weeks of school, and two halfs of the year consisting of three six weeks called semesters.
Guess what! I'm writing a book called Nuclear Winter!

For me, I have 4 nine-week quarters. We get a week off in February for Spring Break, 2 weeks off for Christmas. School starts just after Labor Day. We usually get most of jun, all of july, and most of august off.
I don't like printers.

My brother's elementary school was on that.

As are most, if not all, of the schools in my neck of the woods. Interesting, though.

For Stormy and I our school year begins mid-august, with two semesters, the first going from August to December, the second from January to May. The semesters are divided in half, making quarters of the school year, kind of like the 'terms' in Australia. Along with that we have holiday breaks, including the beloved winter and spring breaks. Summer break, about two and a half months long, is the jumbo shrimp of them all.

To clear this up a bit:
