BK was explaining to me that we needed to invade Iraq because Saddam was such a "horrible" leader.....if that's a justification for invading a country, then there are plenty of "horrible" leaders in Africa.

But I made the point that Africa isn't a threat to us like the Middle Eastern countires are.....

Why not? Quite a few African nations have ties to Middle Eastern terrorist groups.....remember the embassy bombings in Somalia and Ethiopia?

I hope you realize that are soldiers aren't dying for nothing (besides the fact this is a low casualty war). Once the Iraqis can provide security we're out. President Bush says it every speech, which is shown in the non-fox media so of course it's not emphasized, but its just a waiting game. Right now we are cops not a military in Iraq.

How can the Iraqis provide security when we've completely destroyed the infrastructure of their government?

This is like someone comes into your house, tears up everything, then tells you they'll leave as soon as you learn how to clean your house again.

No, our soldiers are not cops in Iraq....they are sitting ducks.

You think the Democrats are competent or something. Kerry couldn't hold a position on anything to save his life.

And lets go back to Clinton, who let Osama go, and he dropped a bomb in Iraq during an Islamic holy day.Come to think of it, this whole mess we're in right now goes back to the Democrats. Right now Bush is pretty much cleaning up what they messed up.

Now I'm not saying the Democrats didn't start it, but they had chances to prevent what's happening now. Clinton could have taken Osama when he was offered him by Sudan. And we could have set an example to the terrorist when they bombed the Cole in Yeman.

Now can you please stop it with your old arguements. The Republicans are doing a better job than the Democrats ever could have done in this situation.

The Republicans were in bed with Saddam all through the 80s....

Democrats aren't the ones who made up lies about WMDs to justify invading a country - that was already planned shortly after Bush took office (re the Downing Street document). Now, we are stuck with a mess that is going to keep future administrations - regardless of party affiliation - tied up. Great leadership, indeed.

I would like to think that ANYONE ELSE would have stayed focused on catching those responsible for 9/11....instead of marching off into an unprovoked war with Iraq....

I'm tired of discussing this, plus we've taken this thread off its original topic about political affiliation.

Bottom line.....we have philosophical differences and none of us is going to change. I think it is wrong to send soldiers off to a war with no agenda, no exit strategy, and no end in sight. You Republicans apparently think it's ok and that it's an example of strong leadership.

We will have to agree to disagree on this.

He said they saw empty boxes with writing in German and French on them....which is a joke, because the U.S. supplied Iraq with weapons throughout the 80s when they were at war with Iran.

1. Saddam wasn't bad in the 80's.

2. Nobody lied about WMD, that is what are intelligence agencies gathered.

3. We'll be out of this war by 2009.

4. Considering the terrorists were jumping country to country we probably would have made it to Iraq eventually.

Like I said once the Iraqis can keep themselves secure we're out of their. Bush has been saying it for a while now.

All we did was take out the criminal leaders. They still will have people to create their National Guard.

Saddam is being tried for murders he allegedly committed/ordered in 1984. Back when the U.S. was in bed with him.

We'll be out of this war by 2009? Yeah, and I'll be married to A-Rod and expecting our 4th child. The only way we'll be out of Iraq by 2009 is if we abandon this mess to a U.N. multi-national force.

Stop being so pessimestic. Its not a quagmire. As soon as the Iraqi governent is set up and able to manage the country then we're out. It'll probably be a year more at most.

We will never be fully out of that country look at Germany we still have a lot of people there and look at Korea we have tons of people there on the border, i beleive we have more people there and afganistan. I see a lot of progress though us being, living and dying over there isn't for nothing.

What are you talking about? We never invade them for the image. Iraq had WMDs. Period. They would have eventually become a major threat. Who knows, soon they could have had ICBMs. Then they could attack. Better to prevent it then wait for it to happen. Can you argue that?

Face it ky, we aren't completely safe anymore. We're still between two large oceans, but now there are bombers that can reach us, and missles. We have to protect this country by all means.

Actually, the concern was not that they would put WMD on an ICBM, but give it to one of the terrorists that they were allowing in.

Actually, the intelligence (not lies and not even proven wrong) was developed mostly under the Clinton administration. You should check out the quotes about Saddam's WMD from President Clinton.

We are in Germany because they are an ally. Same with South Korea (along with the fact that the Korean War is not technically over).
