I think people take religion too seriously. Look at 30year's war in Europe, the fightings in Ireland, massacre in France to get rid of Protestants, and the Crusades. How do they kill just for religions. I think religion is wat we rely on, not wat we fight on. |

Which is a major reason I'm an atheist. I think the world would be better off with no religion. |

Religions don't cause the wars and misery in the world. People do. |

Nicely stated. I'm a Christian, but I'd never go on a crusade to kill Muslims. Its the people's choice, religion doesn't force it (accept Islam, in which Allah tells his follower to kill non-Muslims). |

People fight because they think the "other people" are different. |

I think the green stuff is the cause of the wars these days. |

I don't think wars are the result of people taking religion too seriously. It is a result of them taking themselves and the groups they belong to too seriously. People who take religion seriously try to be holy and do the right thing (admittedly, not always successfully). I think people who do horrific things in the Name of God are not doing His will and those who really are trying to do His will should not be judged by them. |

What about Israel and Palestine?? is that confrontation not caused by religion, i personally think that religion causes differences between races which causes frustration, and confrontation, if there was no religion it would be completerly up to the individual to act as he would act. |

The fact that the participants of the conflict have different religions creates the impression that the conflict is over religion. It isn't. It is two cultures fighting over land. Yes, some are citing religious reasons for their part in the conflict, but we should not confuse abuse of religion with religion itself. |

Sure it does. But, religion is not always the explanation why groups of people do things. |

It is sometimes the easy explanation, not the accurate, in-depth explanation. |

Sure it has. Some religions encourage justice, which, in turn, cuts down on the need for war and, more importantly, the desire for it. |

I think it has done way more harm than good. You can't tell me that the situation in Palestine would be the same/worse w/o religion. |

I think people just look at the negative events around religion. Just think about how religion has helped turn so many peoples lives around. |
