But it was his performance this spring that electrified baseball. The kid should be rewarded, instead of rewarding a guy who doesn't even PLAY 1B.

As much as I agree DH shouldn't start at first, you can't reward a guy for one month that's what player of the month is for not All-Star.

If it stays like this, MLB has got to do something about it before next year's All Star game. I like the idea of the fans voting for the starters, but it shouldn't be so heavy. A player like Jason Varitek shouldn't even be in the All Star game, let alone starting.

Also, to Natefizzle, I think Dye is a great player, but both Crawford and Ichiro are more well balanced players. They hit for average, SOME power, and have amazing speed (which is probably the most under-rated quality of baseball players).

I'm not real sure about this so I figured I would ask, can the Yankees and Red Sox actually be the only two teams to have players on the All Star team? (except Vlad)

see how many votes A-Rod got? how does that happen?

Because he is Arod, thats why he has so many votes
but at the moment he does not deserve it and i can say that

but i honestly think that Derek Jeter and Robinson Cano deserve to be all stars this year

Arod is popular in other parts of the country too, mostly Texas. So they must vote a lot for him too. I'm suprised that Ichiro isn't leading. Usually he has a lot more votes because of people from Japan.

Voted in, yeah. But the coaches pick the reserves and pitchers, and every team has to have at least 1 person representing them.
