He doesn't want to get hurt.

Quote:

Home run derby: Jim Thome said Sunday that he would rather not participate in the All-Star Home Run Derby because he risks injuring his back. Thome leads the American League with 24 home runs.

"In my situation, coming off an injury, I think it would not be good," Thome said. "As far as my health goes and what I've done to maintain my back, the ultimate goal is to make sure I'm healthy for the second half. I would never want to jeopardize that."

I hope Jason Giambi is in it. He has a good chance this year. I remember when last yaer, Texiera was red-hot and then he came to the Home-Run Derby and didn't hit any HRs.

Well after Abreu won, he hardly hit homeruns, so winning isn't always the best thing.

Giambi won in 2002 and he still hit HRs. He finished the year with 41.

No Dunn? Why not? He'll either hit a HR or swing and miss...no groundouts or popouts.
