I know it used to be my job to find this, but heres something I always wondered. When I played baseball when I was 13, I was at 2B, and I kid tried to steal, I dove to try and catch a crappy throw, and was laying on the field as the guy running hopped over me and stopped at 2B. Well the ump called him out saying he can't just over the fielder.

I told my firends and they kept making fun of me, using the movie major leage as proof you can. Well like one day ago there was a kid who jummped over the catcher, and was safe, but was called out becuase they said you can't jump the fielder, so I'm asking if your alowwed to leap over fielder, and still be safe?

Who cares what everybody else thinks? If it makes the team better, that's all that is important.

IN MLB it is legal, but youth leagues can change the rules.

My understanding is that you can unless you hit the catcher when you do it...then you're ejected. Not worth it. The major leagues is a different story, I think you can do that in the majors. It's a good question for the research department.

It's totally allowed in every league I've been in. It just doesn't make sense... All a second baseman has to do is lay down on the ground and the runner can't get by. Haha.

I believe in the Majors you can jump over the fielder and not be called out. Not sure about the youth leagues though, but I think they are allowed to change the rules when it comes to jumping over a fielder.
