I know for months now we have been assuming that Soriano would be gone before the trade deadline. However, this afternoon the Nationals picked up outfielder Austin Kearns from the Reds. In my opinion, this means Soriano is as good as gone, and will probably be traded within the next 7 days. The only question now, is where?

This thread is for any and all Soriano rumors out there, or just what you guys could see happening and why. Does your team need Soriano? Do they have what the Nationals are looking for? Discuss!

From Pro Sports Daily which is probaly the best rumor site around

Quote:

Newsday columnist Ken Davidoff: "The Nationals have received six serious inquiries about Soriano, according to an official familiar with the talks, and are hoping for one or two more suitors. The list of six likely includes the Yankees, Angels, Cardinals, Tigers and Astros, although Houston now might wait to see how much Aubrey Huff helps. The Dodgers could also enter the bidding, as could the Red Sox."

Why would they replace Kearns for Soriano...

The Nationals are in a rebuilding stage. They can probably keep Kearns for 3 million per year, whereas Soriano will demand 12+ per year. If you're going to be losing more than half of your games anyways, you want to save as much money as possible.

I think they'll keep Soriano, he has expressed wanting to stay.

GFX Team
Honestly, I think he is going to go to Oakland or Anaheim or stay in Washington. Both of those two teams have good minor league prospects and A LOT of them.
