This is a topic on the MLB.com forums right now and I think it's really interesting so i'm bringing it here.

These days, smoking is being more looked down on than in the past. Everybody now knows about all the dangers and health-related issues that come along with smoking. In the fifties, sixties, and seventies, there were many MLB players who were regular smokers. But now, since the ninties, smokers in MLB have become more rare. It's almost as if it's a performance un-enhancing drug, the opposite of steroids, and players have realized this and that is one of the reasons for the decrease in smokers. Let's make a list of current MLB smokers, and feel free to add any comments you'd like.

One name that has already come up on the MLB discussion is Nick Swisher, feel free to add your own.

idk bout you guys but isn't this a good thing?

THe players get to play more years due to the fact they don't need an iron lung and they're not causing second-hand smoke to other players.

So In my eyes HIP HIP HOORAY for non-smokers.

yeah... its like what i said, its a performance un-enhancing drug, like the opposite of steroids. it is a good thing, and i didnt know there were ANY smokers left in baseball until this was brought up on another board. so far we've got Mark Grace, Nick Swisher, Jim leyland on the smoker's list.

Players you've seen w/ tobacco?
