What qualifies as a rookie?

In order to qualify for the award a player must have accumulated, prior to the season under consideration:

    * Fewer than 130 at bats and 50 innings pitched in the major leagues or
    * Fewer than 45 days on the active rosters of major league clubs (excluding time on the disabled list or any time after rosters are expanded on September 1)

he may have played a "year" according to the card, but he still qualifies for the ROY, so he is a rookie...

If you played in any games last year your not a rookie.  To be aconsidered a "rookie" this has to be the first time ever youre playing in the MLB not your first full season.  If it was that then like 1/3 of the Tigers roster would be rookies.

I know for a fact that you are wrong. How would Papelbon be in the ROY race even though he pitched in 17 games last year, huh?

It proves that ESPN player infoprmation doesnt consider him a rookie.

but whatever i have my opinion and you have yours there iis no reason to argue over it.

Wow, most of you guys have Milledge for LF instead of Andre Ethier. Too much ESPN.

Padres' all-time win-loss racord and pct. (not including '06):
2693-3174 .459

You gotta reach .500 first before talking shit about the Dodgers. Oh, is that why their fans hate L.A.?

Hell, Matt Kemp has better numbers than Milledge, though he cooled down a bit/lot.

Ooops, forgot about him. I'll switch it on my team. ;) Also thanks for helping prove JJ's a rookie guys.

Hanley Ramirez doesn't make errors--the ball is just afraid of him.
Shadez was the first man to walk on the moon... with sunglasses on.
In rookie ball, he drove a ball to deep centerfield, only to be informed he had been traded on his way to first base. So, he sprinted to the wall and robbed himself of a homerun.
He can turn a man to stone just by looking at him without his shades.
Was pointed at when Babe Ruth supposedly called his shot.
The June 24th game between the Marlins and Yankees was not, in fact, called by rain as was previously reported. Hanley had plans. And by plans we mean a date. With a girl. A babe if you will.
