I think one will win the Cy Young and the OTHER wins the rookie of the year. Verlander is tied with the league lead in wins with Schilling and Halladay with 13 and has the lowest road ERA with 2.04 in the majors. Liriano has a really low ERA no doubt and is 12-2 and has given the Twins hope for a playoff push. He has a home ERA of 1.61 but Verlander has a home ERA of over 3.00. Verlander has a CG and a shutout and Liriano doesn't have any of them. I say Liriano wins the Cy Young award but Justin Verlander wins the ROY. Thoughts? |

Well, first of all Liriano is going to win ROY and Cy. And second of all, stop being a homer, Papelbon is having a better season than Verlander and you know it. |

Both have had equally good seasons. I think it's possible My 2nd option is Liriano wins Cy and Verlander and Papelbon tie for ROY |

And yet you blatantly ignore the season Jon Papelbon is having. |

I'll say... Liriano wins Cy and Papelbon wins ROY. |

Ok, Papelbon has a .53 ERA, 29 saves, and has given up three runs the entire season. THREE. All on one of the biggest stages in baseball. Verlander is having a great season but it just doesn't measure up to what Papelbon is doing. |

Wait, is there some kind of rule I dont know that someone can't win Cy and ROY in the same year? Cause if Liriano won Cy than he would automatically win Roy as well.... |

It's different for relievers. Papelbon hasn't been appearing of late and when he does he does not convert the save. Verlander and Liriano are having excellent seasons starting wise and have a combined 25-6 record. If you add in Jered Weaver to the mix the 3 are a combined 32-6 and all average up to about 11-2, but with the 2 combined, they average up to about 13-3 and even that is phenominal |

I don't think that's ever happened, but they would probably give it to the MVP because pitchers are eligible for that too. |

Well whichever one wins the one award they will also win the other. I think Liriano will win both awards. |

If Liriano wins Cy, he's going to win the ROY as well. I say Liriano will win both if he keeps going as he has been. If he doesn't win the Cy, I'm sure he'll pull through with the ROY. |
