The proof is in the numbers....what happens to attendance numbers when the Yanks blow into town for a 3-game series? Through the roof.

yeah you guys, big market team fans can be real selfish sometimes.. you know how much those places cover teams like the Devil Rays or The Brewers? none

Oh yes, i would love to know why ESPN doesn't cover the D-Rays more, its crazy.
I mean, i tuned into Baseball tonight the other day, and all they were talking about is the top three teams of the AL EAST and AL CENTRAL

What the Hells up with that!!?? :P

And also..I haven't seen a Yankees game being televised on ESPN in at least a year

I just wrote in to SI that i haven't seen that many Yankee stuff in their magazines and threaten to cancel my membership, so i don't know what your talking about that the Yankees get all the coverage. I listen to the Fan and they talk about the mets more than the Yankees sometimes

Mets are better than the Yankees...

Baseball wouldn't be better without the Yankees and Red Sox. But I do agree ESPN and FOX spend way too much time over them. But the reason is $$$$$. It's proven when the Red Sox or Yankees are in the WS the ratings go up. I personally love WS without either team, only real baseball fans will watch it, instead of general sports fans.

Baseball is RUINED every day by the Yankees and the Red Sox. Not directly, but because the national sports media reports everything about them, and leaves other teams behind. WE DON'T CARE. Maybe we were a little happy for the Red Sox in 2004 when they won it, but since then they've become arguably more obnoxious than Yankee fans. I'm not saying I dislike all of their fans but those from New York and Boston are often really bad. Then add to that the number of Sox fans who became fans in 2004 after they won the World Series. I have to believe that if it wasn't for ESPN and Fox's nightly lovefest for the Yanks and Sox, baseball would be so much more enjoyable. And everyone will say, "oh but it's the greatest rivalry of all-time!" No, it's not. It may have been before when some of the legendary greats of baseball were on the field and the whole Ruth thing was still a big story but now it's just a boring, overplayed, and often childish feud between fans.

No. It's the greatest rivalry of all-time.

No. It's the greatest rivalry of all-time.

It used to be..

ESPN has turned it into the most annoying rivalry of all time.

Quite frankly, even as a huge student of the history of the game, I couldn't care less if they ever played again.

I can think of 10 riveralys better then Red Sox vs Yankees.

Baeball is ruined by big market teams. And dont say this bullshit that ESPN only covers them because there good. Tell me how many times you see the Blue Jays or the Rangers. There good teams but virtually invisiable when it comes to ESPN.

Personally, I don't like ESPN covering The Yankees anyways, becuase when they do, the guys talking have no idea what their talking about. If they aren't talking about your team, you should be happy, becuase there aren't many respectable anaylisis at all, so idk why you guys want to be rained on with Bullshit opionions by Jim Rome and Skip Baylor.

Like Red said, you shouldn't be complaining. When I see ESPN talking about the Yankees, I just change the channel, because they know nothing at all.

As much as this "domination with a hiccup" makes me want to pull my hair out, that quote was pretty much amazing.

Unfortunetly, 75% of all baseball fans actually care about the Yankees and Red Sox, while maybe 2% care about your Brewers. I can't say I blame ESPN for covering the more popular franchise.

Well look at it like this most teams in the AL are trying to win something called a wild card. The Yankees and Red sox are usally in the race for it. So people want to see if their team gained any ground. Plus in most cities as in Cleveland a lot of citizens are Yankee or Red Sox fans. I live Cleveland and the city is 35 to 45% Yankees fans in all seriousiness.

I do have to agree with Blindsided.... though I don't disagree with ESPN for showing more Red Sox/Yankees.... I mean I live in California, and I can think of 3 Red Sox and 3 Yankee fans that are my friends.... I've never met a Brewers fan.... ESPN would want to show the most popular teams, what do you think most people would want to watch, Yankees-Tigers or Orioles-Tigers?

You had to say Orioles, didn't you. Couldn't you say Royals? We are atleast better than them.

But I have to agree with Blindsighted here. I absolutely hate how ESPN runs their shows. And it's not just the Yankees/Red Sox either. I hated it how they turned Big Ben's accident into some kind of National Tradegy. Sure we all felt bad for him, but we really didn't need updates every hour about how he was doing. Especially for an accident that wouldn't have been as severe if he was wearing a helmet.
